Division IV Region 14
-
thePITmanThe old Division IV Region 14 thread hadn't been posted on since May. What are your thoughts on this year's playoff picture? What can we expect to see? Any new teams that will emerge as playoff contenders? Any teams from last year's playoffs that will drop off?
Division IV Region 14 Teams:
Black River
Brookside
Bucyrus
Chippewa
Clear Fork
Clearview
Eastwood
Edison
Elyria Catholic
Evergreen
Fostoria
Galion
Genoa Area
Huron
Keystone
Lake
Ontario
Orrville
Otsego
Ottawa-Glandorf
Paulding
Port Clinton
Rossford
Swanton
Triway
Upper Sandusky
Van Wert
Wauseon
Wellington -
thePITmanThis Friday Triway takes on Orrville. Both got wins in week 1, Triway blowing out a weak opponent, and Orrville squeaking by a good opponent. Both still have unanswered questions and hope to survive the big test this week, which could play a BIG role in the final regional standings.
In the next week or two, RedRider1 and I will be putting together our spreadsheet like I did last year so around week 7 or 8 we can get some projections and scenarios out. Good luck to all the teams! -
RocketsfanGenoa almost a lock.
Huron has a better than average chance I'd say.
Eastwood - same as above
Port Clinton is much improved and is my dark horse pick. They have to survive the SBC which is going to be tough from 3rd place on down. -
oldschoolreddevI saw clearview vs ec. Ec is probably the favorite. Good offense, ok defense, kicker is good. Hc is cocky. I see them in the regional final. Clearview needs a little work. If they can beat Wellington, Columbia, & buckeye they will make it this year. They aren't as bad as the final score indicated.
-
karen lotzEastwood's loss to Clyde hurts them. A win over Genoa or Patrick Henry would most likely get them in, but without one of those W's, it will be tough.
-
CCRollyMy opinion on Orrville is that it's better to catch them early. Come playoff time, they should be clicking on call cylinders.
-
THE4RINGZMy Iron Lock pick for this region..........Chippewa does not make the play offs. Other than that, the region is up for grabs.
But I agree with Rolly, Orrville finds a way to put it all together come Week 11 + -
riders16 of the top 13 from last year lost their first game, including #1 Galion, #6 Clear Fork, #8 Eastwood, # 9 Clearview, #12 Black River, and #13 Wellington, This would seem to open it up for teams like Elyria Cath. and Bucyrus who were 10 and 11 last year to make moves into the top 8 this year.
-
Classyposter58I think Genoa looks better than they did last year and I am going to take them and Ottawa Glandorf in the Region Championship
-
CCRollyIf History proves true, Genoa shouldn't have to play their Varsity roster until the State Final Four again...
-
riders1Genoa beat Rossford ( 0-10 ) 60 to 0 last year and beat them in game 1 , 57 to 6, so how does that compute to looking better than last year after only 1 game? They only gave up 7 in the 1st 4 games last year , and already have allowed 6 in 1 game!

Maybe they got new uniforms? -
adogLook for Ottawa-Glandorf to be making noise in this region this year
-
SonofanumpMy guess:
Genoa Area
Elyria Catholic
Orrville
Ottawa-Glandorf
Huron -
RedRider1Full Week 1 results for R14.

Ely Catholic, Triway, OG, Genoa, Orrville, Huron are my early picks for 6 of the 8 spots. -
bwcomet89I like OG to win this region again. I'd love to be a homer and say Genoa, but Ottawa Glandorf looks stacked. Of any year this one could be their year to win it all. I hope I don't lay a jynx on them, I'd be happy to see them win. They have a lot of big names coming back and they're always good in the trenches. It's a good recipe.
-
thePITmanWho does O-G have coming back from last year? I was hoping they graduated some, just in case we have to play them again.
-
RedRider1Brandon Kuhlman - RB
Kahle - QB
Reiman - RB
Peck - TE -
5knotsPretty early to tell for the whole region on favorites....should not take long to get a good feel.
How about Division I offers out there in the region? I know Orrville has Max Pirman (DE) going to Indiana but there are probable some other Seniors and maybe even some Juniors who have entertained some DI offers...let's here about them. -
riders1So after week 2 it looks like 10 to 12 undefeated teams still left. Any surprises so far, or teams loosing unexpectedly?
-
5knotsEarly favorite Triway takes one on the chin from Region 14 Orrville. A little shake up at the top....still real early but the loss for Triway and a predominantly DIV schedule remaining means the Titans shouldn't panic but have a narrower margin for error for sure.
-
birddog23Genoa may not be as tough as the Comet faithful is making them out to be...
-
karen lotzmaybe not but they are still good and will be in the playoffs.
-
riders110 teams left at 2-0, only 2 made it to 10-0 last year, 4 were 8-2 and 2 were 7-3. One each at 8-2 and 7-3 didn't make it in, so we have alot of teams still running for 8 spots and 2 more losses will probably knock out most teams as I see 8-2 being in , but 7-3 will probably kill the chances of most teams, so 8-2 with a good schedule will be required, 7-3 had better have a strong schedule this year as Orrville and Clear Fork did last year with their mostly DI, DII, or DIII opponents on their schedules.
-
RedRider1Orrville with 2 big wins over quality teams so far. We're a team that doesn't need to go 9-1 or 10-0 to make the top 8. 6 or 7 usually does the trick.
No teams in the region play tougher schedules than Elyria Catholic and Orrville.
