May not be around for as long as the doom and gloomers think. Someone from the White House predicted 4 days from the peak and the virus mostly gone by mid-May.
So there’s two sides: 12-18 month doom and gloom crowd. And another month, overly optimistic crowd. I’m rooting for the latter

My comment in the previous thread to the 12-18 doom and gloomers: "Yeah, 100% fuck that and why I keep asking what the end game is here.  If everyone thinks bringing people back to society is just going to make it spike again, then why are we even doing this?"

I think mid may is a little optimistic if you look at the trajectory of other countries, but maybe not because the US got a jump start on those countries.   Plus, the US is huge.

The problem is you have a lot of people who are so frightened that they legitimately believe nobody should be able to go back to their daily lives until this shit is completely wiped out.  I hope we don't coddle these idiots either. There is going to be a point where expecting everyone to stay in just so you can feel safe is just as selfish as people who are currently disregarding any social distancing measures.

I saw that Wuhan lifted their lockdown. Chances it comes back there? I’d say 99.9%.

Voted for 100% and can’t wait for it to happen so all the people here like_that just referred to can say “see it’s coming back we need to shut everything down for six more months at the earliest!!”

I'm seeing screenshots all over social media of people asking who they can call to report people for various reasons.

How will people feel about being in large crowds, events, etc right after this is all over?

Kentucky came out with a snitch, i mean, tip line a week or two ago.

Someone locally took a picture and sent it to the local paper, who published it with a tagline about how people werent practicing SD.

It was a picture of about 15-20 fisherman at the lake, all about 10-15' apart from eachother.   Fishing by its nature is social distancing!

You’d have to be such a fuck to snitch on someone.

Inevitable.  Such a waste of time.  Social distancing is never going to be practiced 100%.  And people who don't believe coronavirus is a legitimate threat are not going to change their minds.  So the spirit of social distancing is you get as many people to do it as possible.  Reporting on people you judge to be in violation is a waste of authorities' time. Keyboard warriors at work.

I believe most will be fine but if when someone coughs/sneezes some will get concerned.

I already dislike large crowds, but I deal with them for certain events. That won't change after this is over.

Packed restaurants, bars, clubs?

I'm dying for this to be over and to get back out there, especially since the weather has turned. But I'm not so sure I'll dive right into to a huge party or sporting event.

100% chance this happens too.  Also is it me, or do these people also not understand how to fucking look at the data and track progress?

Because I want to. Why do you ask so many questions? Does it matter? What is the meaning of life? Will it affect your day at all?

A big reason is for SEO purposes. The new thread would have a covid-19 specific title.

Why are you so against questions?  I thought you were libertarian?  Are you a communist?

Sorry if I got your panties in a bunch.  I'm only questioning to learn, not to bitch.  I like to learn about the behind the scenes (code) of things.  Communist away...

Fuuuuuuuuuck those people.  I haven't seen one yet, but I'm sure I will, and it's going to sincerely piss me off.

I thought the tone of my post would've been clear by the meaning of life question. I was giving you a hard time. Which is why I gave the serious answer at the end. Comrade.

When things are “back to normal”,  which I still think will be in June, I doubt we see large gatherings. Sports without fans, concerts will still be banned, etc. Our back to normal will be offices re-opening, restaurants open for dine-in (probably a limited capacity) — stuff like that.

My guess is large crowds won’t be permitted for most states until the fall, if not later.

It be a gradual reversal of how things were shut down.

All retailers, license bureau, etc, will be limited in capacity.

Anyone read this article?

“[W]hat people are trying to do is flatten the curve. I don’t really know why. But, what happens is if you flatten the curve, you also prolong, to widen it, and it takes more time. And I don’t see a good reason for a respiratory disease to stay in the population longer than necessary,” [Knut Wittkowski] said.

I read a similar article on the Federalist. Seems like he would just prefer to let nature run it’s course and rip through the senior population.

I’ll stick with the current method.

My favorite conspiracy I have seen is that the government has noticed a dip in reproduction among the younger generations. So they are forcing the lock downs in order to get young people to have more sex and therefore have more babies.
