Sean King is a tool. Yeah, these idiots that are taking down other monuments are missing the whole point. These are complicated issues and people are just being stupid and rash.

The Teddy statue was on the docket to take down for years. Apparently, the statue has some other elements that are pretty racist.

NASCAR did something really cool

Yeah that was awesome. Waking up to the news that they found a noose was not good. Way to go Alabama. I don't know which state is worst right now, them or Mississippi.

Not many allowed to the area it was found. Could’ve been a 3rd party cleaning crew but if not it was someone with access to facility or a crew member of one of the teams.

What racist elements?  The white guy is on the horse?

I doubt the people demanding the statue be taken down have any idea who sculpted it.  James Frasier was a man who through personal experience saw the strife of native Americans first hand and expressed it like many artists do through their talent.  Don't you think his "End of the Trail" sculpture was empathetic and a reflection of his personal beliefs?  Do you think he would subject himself to sculpting the Teddy statue to depict white supremacy?

He also designed the Indian nickel.  Nations don't put symbols or people on their currency for the purpose of their inferiority or to mock them but to honor them.  You yourself thought Harriet Tubman should be on the 20 which would be pretty cool.

This is getting ridiculous, the media needs to stop ignoring these people, Twitter and facebook needs to let the FBI track down their social media and shut it down if they are using it to coordinate breaking the law and violence.

To turn on the TV and see people openly breaking federal laws and nothing is being done pisses me off.  Regular people can do this.

From my understanding the museum has been debating on whether to move the statue for years. It was because of the Native American and African American portions of the statue beside Teddy, not Teddy itself. The statue is open for interpretation, and I think that is what made it a difficult debate for the museum.

I can't say what James Frasier would think about it, but a member of Teddy's family said the statue should be moved. I don't think this is a knock on Frasier's entire collection or his views or any of the other work, just the composition of this statue and the perceived take on it.

I also have the view that symbols and the view of history and aspects of history change through time as generations and cultures change. What may seem normal or relevant at the time is looked back as wrong by future generations. Sometimes we look back at items and think whoa, that was wrong or we were shortsighted when we did that. History is full of those examples. This statue may be one of those. It is not a cut and dry debate, it is complicated, messy and full of nuance, like history itself.

Sean King, the white BLM activist who was a keynote speaker for Bernie Sanders, is now advocating for getting rid of white looking Jesus statues and stained glass, bc it is “white supremacy”. This is why no one should give an inch on old words or confederate statues, it will never end there.
Teddy Roosevelt is the latest historic statue that is going to be removed.

So, the Roosevelt who didn't throw minorities into internment camps?  Got it.

That's the problem with activists, especially professional activists, when they get what they want.  Because then what do they do?  Go back to a normal life - activism IS their life.

That's why nobody should cave into stupid shit like condemning Drew Brees for his comments.  Nothing will ever be enough.

On FDR, I have joked, what are they going to do, take down the the entire monument, his wheelchair and all?  But, yeah your point is right. We celebrate FDR, yet he did an awful thing as we look back on it.

I agree with a lot on here that the mob is losing sight of the issue and just like to take everything down. The nuance and the complexities of the issues are getting lost.

Brees also got knocked because he didn't get the issue. He kept confusing that kneeling was about the flag and not black lives. Once he realized that, he corrected himself, rightly.

Sure, that's definitely who is responsible for all of this. Kudos to the DC cops though for finally doing something about these idiots. They tried to pull down the Andrew Jackson statue and the mayor/ police chief/ whoever finally let the police do their job and knock those idiots around.

I haven't paid much attention to the NASCAR situation around Bubba Wallace. But this is interesting. The garage door pulls are, or were in 2019, very noose-like. The right image is Bubba's bay, and the loop is missing from the pull.

A wider view of two bay doors. Notice how much longer the door pull for door 5 is.

Grain of salt, and all that.

Well, except for this guy who throws a firework on a homeless guy.

Agreed, but it surely raised my conspiracy theory hackles. What better way to raise ratings than to stage something like this to get everyone talking about NASCAR?

I find it odd that there has been no video released. No chance they don't have security cameras running 100% of the time while the track is in use with the amount of money in tools and cars.

Did you watch the interview?  It wasn't even close to being as bad as people made it out to be.  He did "correct" himself, but he had to do it three times.  Just another example of nothing will ever be enough.
