My niece runs cross country and someone on the team tested positive (asymptotic and was fine) so they canceled practice today. Whoever was in that particular running group may be held out of practice for a week or two.

If the response is to cancel or close down whenever there’s a positive case, then nothing is going to happen until there’s a vaccine. I’m not saying it’s necessarily wrong to do that, but I don’t know why they are attempting to reopen anything, or have school or sports, if the immediate reaction is to stop it for days or weeks whenever someone is positive. Why would positive cases do anything but continually grow and grow at this point?

I have to take every kid’s temperature before they get into practice and then they sign in and circle a bunch of choices (yes/no) on their health that day....if someone tests positive I’m sure my practices will be done for 2 weeks, possibly all our fall sports.

If someone at Kroger or Walmart test positive I don’t see Them shutting down for 2 weeks

Kentucky will be mandatory masks in public starting 5pm today (7/10). They made the announcement yesterday, I believe. See Ohio people, it doesn't take 6+ days to institute something -- like justin mentioned previously, I have never understood that timeline.

I am extremely curious how pro soccer (USL) is playing this weekend. Indianapolis and Louisville are both having home games. There's been nothing, to my knowledge, stating how that's allowed. Anyone have an idea how? I know Columbus hosted TBT last weekend, apparently ESPN paid a good deal to get an approval from the DOH for it to be permitted.

I was in Kentucky last night for golf league (Covington). Not a single mask on the premise, including the employees. They were wearing gloves, which I find weird.

They're still hosting it throughout this week and into next (ends the 14th). In what I'm SURE is a total coincidence, the Governor's office had an order through the DOH that put contact sports in a trial run sort of thing through July 15. People associated with high school sports seem to be most definitely reading between the lines on that one in the "big business willing to pay money? NO PROBLEM; the rest of us...probably not..." sort of way.

That is it. I didn't know all the specifics (and didn't care to look it up), but now it makes sense that "trial run" ends on July 15. Just so convenient for this.

The crazy thing that happened was the Dewine Twitter announcement permitting "contact sports to resume..." came on Tuesday 7/7 but the actual permission started on Friday 7/3. No one knew. Extremely dirty. These types of things help no one understand or follow what government officials are doing.

Also, Kentucky HS made their announcement today that mandatory practices will resume on August 3. Originally, KHSAA has always had the date at/around July 15 (unless it was on a Sunday) as the start date for mandatory practices.

The ACC made an announcement that 9/1 is the earliest start date for them. Probably conference-only there will happen too (can't remember if that statement has been made yet or not).

I don't envy all of you parents who have to deal with this shit right now.   This is a good time to say fuck China, and remember this is China's fault.

Now it looks like the JUCO athletic scene will change drastically too. They will vote on Monday 7/13, but the advisory committee is recommending a vote to move all sports to the spring.

Wtf. Lol inside your own home?

Just got to the beach (outside of Myrtle, Garden City), it is fucking slammed. Can distance on the beach but I’m sure all of these people are going into restaurants and bars. We won’t be doing so. Then they’re going to all go drive back to wherever they came from  and take whatever they get with them.

Did you read it or just the headline?

It’s pretty obvious most of the spread comes from contact outside of the house then spreading it to family members inside your house. Now I realize for you and your wife that doesn’t matter since you don’t socially distance. But this isn’t really geared towards you .... more for the people who are taking precautions and don’t want to give it to their family.

What do you mean we don't socially distance? We certainly do when we're out and about and have the ability to.

Or do you mean people socially distancing within the same household? Because holy shit that sounds exhausting and damn near impossible.

This seems like a huge waste of time. If a sizable portion of people give up on the social distancing/mask stuff (like they are), the overall population is gonna expose them to it sooner or later.

The precautions you're taking are destined to fail and arguably might not prevent the spread anyway.

At this point they should just relax all restrictions and let people do what they're gonna do. Mask/no mask, social distance, etc.

Let darwinism sort itself out.

Meanwhile, one of my wife's co-workers, who has basically not left her house and has done everything "right" just tested positive. My wife thinks she's annoyed at her because she got it and my wife hasn't.
