I give him credit for one thing: Most people wouldn't publicly admit to being (or wanting to be) that stereotypical Karen-type who routinely gets roasted online for making a scene whenever something doesn't go their way.

I have a buddy that lives there, from the UK. He leans on the conservative side and is fine with it for several reasons. 1. The vaccination rates are still pretty low there. I think it is less than 20% of the population is fully vaccination. 2. Their level of risk tolerance there is low. He says, they look at us and think we are insane for the amount of deaths we have had and that we are failing given the number of vaccines available and our rates. 

He agrees it sucks, but then he says, looking at the alternative, like here, and the deaths, he is fine with it.  

Like nearly all things...it is a matter of perspective.

It absolutely doesn't bother me to wear a mask in a store for 5-10 minutes.  And people forget while their own exposure might be very low risk, that person serving you is serving hundreds of others that day and has way more exposure.

Extended mask wearing is a different story - work and air travel really sucks.  I have a really tough time wearing a mask for hours on end.

Anyway, you'd think QO would support someone who perhaps chose not to be vaccinated and instead rely on masks and distancing.

Yes and we had over 600 die yesterday and have a higher vaccination rate. 

They would look at us and think we are insane for not doing more.

At least maybe they're relaxing requirement inside the airport.  I made a WC trip a while back, something like 12 hours total counting layovers and connections and all that.  SUCKED

Yeah, that's generally been my perspective on masks. Wearing one into a store, whether it be a 5-minute stop or 30-45 minutes for full grocery shopping might be a bit of an annoyance, but it's never actually bothered me to anything resembling a "MUH RITES!!!!!" degree. Wearing one for hours at an event is a different story. I've had to do that before and it eventually sucks. Especially if you're outdoors and it's a bit cool. Condensation gets to the area in front of your nose and mouth and you have this clammy bit of cloth pressed over your face for however long. Not ideal!

Yes, get vaccinated. Because, what is it like 99% of the deaths are unvaccinated. Yeah, I know we won't get to great vaccination rates anytime soon because of people being stupid, but also people not having access or the ability to get it.

People that either cannot get off work, cannot find a location, or have access to them. 

We had people on the job site that said numerous times they could not make it to a place to get the first or the second shot during the hours offered for some clinics and facilities. 

I do think if you look at the unvaccinated rates in rural and urban areas, there is a lack of access. 

At least that is my looking at the data and stories the past few weeks. 

I also think not having a single shot one and done anymore has severely hurt the rates.  

Have you considered that a lot of rural and urban American's just don't want it?

That is the problem, making it political. Throughout US History, vaccinations were not political. It was only now that it is. 

Go back and look how we rolled out polio and smallpox vaccine. We had the blueprint and are failing at it now.

I suspect, when other countries catch-up to the US, you'll see similar "vaccine hesitation".  Except maybe in countries that require it.  There will always be a significant number of people who either think they don't need it (maybe because they're young & healthy), are too lazy to be bothered, etc..

If you want the vaccine in this country, you can get it.  Your point may have been true a few months or even a few weeks ago when demand > supply.  But that's just an excuse now.  If people can travel hours for a Trump or BLM rally, they can get their ass somewhere to get the dose if they really want to.  There's a lot of bullshit in this country that if you can't walk a block down your street to vote or get an abortion, then you're "denied" access.

I have flown multiple times this year for work. You are required to wear one at all times while on the plane, they are STRICT about even while eating/drinking (take a sip, mask up, take another sip, mask up, etc).

However, the airports themselves are rather lax on keeping the masks on. I walked all around CAK and CLT with it off only putting it on when I was in line to get on the plane.

First, compairing polio, smallpox, etc to this vaccine may indicate you don't understand the difference between every other vaccine we have ever created vs the COVID vaccine?

Manipulating your mRNA to do something it doesn't "naturally" do is WAY different than injecting a dead virus so your natural immune system can create antibodies.

I am not even saying those against the vaccine are scientifically correct, I am just saying that comparing this to smallpox, polio, etc is either intellectually dishonest or intellectually lazy, you choose. 

Call them dumb or whatever for not getting vaccinated but not buying any part of the lack of availability or access.
