Next year's dual seeds go as follow:

Therefore seeding for next year's city dual tournament goes as such:

    1. Walnut Ridge
    2. West
3/4 Whetstone/Centennial - decided by their year end dual.
    5. Mifflin
    6. Eastmoor
    7. Independence
    8. Africentric
    9. Marion Franklin
    10. Linden McKinley
    11. Northland
    12. Briggs
    13. South

If any schools pick up teams they will add in at the bottom, if any schools drop teams everyone moves up one, again remember HOST SITES ARE ENTIRELY TO THE DISCRETION OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES. We can discuss with student activities at our seeding meeting the thought of moving our duals up past the end of the grading period. BTW anyone from student activities show up last night?
Even pushing the Championship a couple of weeks later.
  • It is what it is
I think the 1st rd of duals should be the Wed or Thurs when we return off winter break. The championship could be two weeks later. This would allow for teams to better prepare their lineups, not interfere with state duals and allow coaches to schedule accordingly.

I didn't see anyone from SA, not a surprise though , although I could be wrong!

I was wondering about that myself and there wasn't any trophy presented to WR for winning the Championship or W fro being runner-ups. Maybe all of us coaches will have to pitch in and buy since SA isn't getting involved. I got $20 on the purchase of the team awards for this year and we can give it our at our during our League meet prior to the finals. So what do you guys think about that? My team finished at the bottom of the list but I'm willing to support our league.
  • Tjones85
There will be a trophy. Presented at the city meet mark my words.with up dated dual results. 80baby I'll take that 20. ;)
  • Tjones85
Centennial and whetstone didn't wrestle due to the fact centennial will wrestle weds Thursday Friday Saturday, sothe coaches agreed the winner of their dual the following week will also be the winner of the duals.

I'll see you on Sunday if we have our drawing meeting and if not I'll catch you at some point.

YOU MAD BRO!;1701841 wrote:152 Jenkns lost to Fort thsi past weekend.
That's good to know which makes this weight class crazy. Our ranking of this weight class was based on head to head which is: Jenkins has a win over Ramierz and Ramiez has a win over Rogers and Rogers has a win over Fort and now Fort has a win over Jenkins. So now everyone in this weight has a victory over someone else ranked. The seeding for this weight class is going to be exciting unless some of these kids wrestle each other again or some of them get moved around. Only time will tell and our next rankings will reflect that.
  • It is what it is
I actually think Fort is the favorite at 160, but he was nursing an injury and got stuck by Rogers earlier in the season. As a DQ, I look for him to win at city.

We will post tournament projections Friday night after the seeding meeting (never know who is moving where! ;))!! : thumbup:
  • It is what it is
On a side note.....what did MF bring to Utica? Who and at what weight; King, Ivey, Wellborn????
  • It is what it is
How did everyone's sectional draw go? Think we did ok....a few guys have a shot at Darby! : thumbup:

Can someone who knows more than me comment on South being placed in the Licking Valley Sectional? I was under the impression (mistakenly I hope) that their team was terminated without opportunity for the students to participate. I hope that I received bogus info and that South wrestlers get the opportunity to end their season well at the City League and Sectional tourneys.

Heard a teacher stepped in to keep program going. Not sure if they're practicing at South or at West.

Teacher stepped in, golf coach from Teas Valley who teaches government at South (friend of mine) supposed to start practicing tomorrow at West and/or Marion Franklin (alternate days) They only have 3-5 kids still wrestling. Their 120, Silverthorn (138), and McGlown (220) are wrestling.

First of all I have to say "Thank You" to the teacher that stepped up and did this for the kids. I'm not sure how many kids are wrestling but we'll soon find out. From my understanding the teacher has no wrestling experience and for some reason their prior coach isn't going to be running practice at the school. I hope that changes because he was working on building the program up but until then they can go to West, MF or somewhere else. I'm just happy to know that these kids will get the chance to complete their season.

    ^^^ This.

Totally agree. May huge amounts of good karma come raining down on that teacher. That is awesome.

    Coaches,

Mark your calenders now. I reserved the Steelwood facility for a joint Columbus City League wrestling practice Tuesday March 3rd from 6PM - 8PM. Bring all District Qualifiers and District Alternates, and any other kids you think that would benefit from the experience. Schedule your buses now, or carpool. Let me know the Monday before app. how many you will be bringing, I estimate that we will have 30-40 kids between DQ and kids that just want to get better, but space is limited. Due to insurance reasons, this is open only to Columbus City School Wrestlers.

I think the top seed should host, like the state duals, and the next round should be held at the highest remaining seed.
