Congrats coach Ayers, nice to see you get another title....nice job coach Jones and and the Braves, not Many gave you guys a chance at 2nd !

i said very early in the year, that it would be hard for anyone in the city to beat WR. Just very surprised that Whetstone beat West and South, way to go Braves.

Great stuff also congrats to Coach Ayers he is a great guy and a true ambassador of wrestling in central Ohio.
This is truly a case of taking a terrible situation of a coaches high school closing and losing one team to then taking his new team turning it into the inspiring store of a wrestling program that had not won a city title since 1973 and turning it into a championship program in his first season! Congrats hard work and buying in do payoff.

This is a good idea. However, next year, coaches, can we please make sure that all of the athletes are wearing at least their team's warm up top so we can easily recognize which school each champ is from? It may be hard to remember in a couple of years.

Taken with a phone camera, so apologize for the low quality.

Along with this type of district support, it would be great to form a CPS spring/summer wrestling club so that our kids get as much mat time and experience as possible. I know some animosity may exist among a few coaches, but this is about "our" kids getting better and being able to compete against anybody, anywhere! Although I coach track and football as well, I would be willing to help as much as possible (wife's permission, lol:RpS_lol:).

We (WEST) will be hosting open mats Sundays at 3PM starting in May. We will also be taking a squad to the Ashland University Summer Duals and all wrestlers that participate in our open mats are eligible to participate.

Congrats to all the wrestlers that qualified for districts! That is a major accomplishment, especially for those coming out of the city facing all the obstacles that we do!!

    Well said:

Centennial qualified 160, 170, 285, and they have an alternate at 195.

West qualified 106, and have an alternate at 132.

Walnut Ridge had 5 Qualifiers and 2 Alternates (BALLER!) but I do not remember the weights.

Marion Franklin had qualifiers at 160, 182, and 220.

Whetstone had qualifiers at 106, 170, and 182.

Briggs qualified their 285 and 220.

South qualified their 160, 138 is an alternate.

Overall 18 Qualifiers and 3 alternates, if I missed any please add.

I hope to see all 21 wrestlers and coaches at steelwood Tuesday. Check in at 545, Practice 6 to 8. Please email me if you are coming or not.
