CCS 2014-2015 wrestling

  • It is what it is
Took some lumps yesterday at Clearfork, without 5 starters, but the young kids show a lot of promise! : thumbup:

New Albany coming up this week, so hopefully we get close to full strength in order to truly evaluate where we are as a team.
  • It is what it is
I know some teams have tri meets coming up.....would be great to see some results! : thumbup:

Even with the number of forfeits the dual still came down to one match 4 wins for EA to 3 wins for L on the mat not bad. One would hope that the kids start to understand how important it is to fight off your back in a dual. If some of these kids don't get pinned then the score would have been different. Good job EA and L your dual came down to kids wrestling on the mat.

Any update on the Northland tri from last night?

Forfeits really bother me! The decision isn't decided on the mat!! One of the biggest issues I see in the city, kids don't understand (or care) about the importance of the greatest ABILITY.....AVAILABILITY!

IMO, winning the league championship STARTS with having a full lineup!

good luck to all the city teams this weekend and over the break!! : thumbup:

Very true, the team with a full lineup will have better results. You have to work the hall ways a recruit kids year round to get them Interested in this sport. Coaching in the city league is an entire different ball game that a lot of people don't get or understand.

That's the key right there, problem is when schools won't hire their coaches to work in the building to recruit kids. My superintendent complained to my AD when I sent an email to the teachers to help me out in getting kids, telling me no other program does that, I sent him a nice email stating that all the other programs have a coach in the building where wrestling is the only one without so until that issue is resolved I will recruit how I choose to recruit. But yeah, when I used to be a sub I was able to build our numbers up because I could hit almost every class to recruit kids, but then came time to get a real job and my numbers got stagnant, we haven't decreased but we haven't increased either.
  • 80baby
I feel the pain when it comes to getting kids on the mats. I can only speak for my building but it seems like these kids are afraid of the work that you have to put in to have success in wrestling. I have a few kids that talk trash about what the can and will do on the mat and after a few days they don't come back. Right now it looks like only 5 or 6 teams can fill all 14 weight classes I hope that changes next month and our number across the league increase.
  • It is what it is
We are close to a full lineup, although we may be shedding some dead senior weight if they don't right their ship , but the HC has to work the halls WAY to much imo!

On a bright note, Makyin Tate took 2nd at New Albany today! Our 195, Khalief Dent was 1 win away from winning his pool! We only have 3 upperclassmen in the lineup and the youngsters are looking better and better!! : thumbup:

Names to go with the results? :)
  • It is what it is
With the individual rankings about to be unveiled on ITC, I thought I'd give it a try for CCS. These are educated (maybe?) guesses since I haven't seen every team and results for the city are few and far between. Feel free to comment on projections (top 4) and/or correct names/weight classes. That being said.....away we go!

Originally ranked 5, but since ITC did 4 (well, for most of the weight classes! lol), I went down to 4. Had Poeschel ranked 5th.

Looks good, once Ayers from WR gets in wrestling shape look out. Also once McGowen and Edwards figure it out they will be a force that will be heard from. WR has a sold team...

Ill try to remember to when I get back in town. Only glaring changes, Rodriguez is clear #1 @ 106, and pascal is #1 heavy IMO.
  • Westie101
Agreed Rodriguez is a clear #1, however I thought i read on trackwrestling that his alpha was 113, though I could be mistaken.

The championship duals should shed some light on several weight classes.

    Is Pascal the West 285?

Heard the same thing, but haven't seen Whetstone or any of their results, so it is what it is. : thumbup: :RpS_lol:

Also, please correct any spelling of names. I got them off last year's city brackets, but that doesn't mean they're accurate! LOL!!
