  • coachchuck
you guys know me i always got something going that makes no sense but this is one of those things i got to do and i will be seen this season just in a different role best of luck to all of you i know my guys at the I are working hard as i have never seen a group of guys go almost a full line with a bunch of young talented kids. Sectionals could be the city round 2 version. See you guys around this year.

Dan Gable once told his team to run as hard as they could in practice one of the captions asked for how long he replied " i don't know just go."

Crazy Brave or the Phony Tough give that choice to your young men

We had a good day at Circleville today, Walnut Ridge was at Mt. Vernon and Northland had kids at Groveport. Where did the rest of the league compete?

    Duals start Wednesday! : thumbup:
  • cruiser_96
    WR was at Olentangy.

I was impressed with a few of Northland's kids. Good kids, good coaching.
  • It is what it is
    And now....I'm....inside the circle! LOL!!

Did they have some JV kids at Groveport?

We practiced and then had wrestle offs. South and Briggs came over and practiced with us. Great workout. Silverthorn should have a good year, also Briggs heavyweight Paschal should have a good year as well. Duals Wednesday and then headed to Teas Valley this coming Saturday.
  • It is what it is
See ya Wednesday! Got Clearfork duals on Saturday.

Curious to know how the city teams lineups are looking? I know we're still dealing with a few injuries, guys dropping to a preferred weight, grades, etc... Some teams have transfers, no coach, etc...

Could we possibly hold the 1st duals immediately after we come back from Christmas break then the championships two weeks later (still done by end of January!)?? Teams would be more prepared (more practice/mat time, close to or full lineups, etc..) and the outcome would be more legitimate. JMO
  • YOU MAD BRO!
So true its way to early.... Still trying to sucker kids into wrestling.:RpS_flapper:

    Tonight's short results from West

    West over Briggs
    Mifflin over Linden McKinley

In the finals West 35 Mifflin 30
I think Linden beat Briggs? Herman?'

West advances in the city dual tournament.

Thanks to everyone who came out, great job by all teams.
  • 80baby
Yes sir that's true Linden beat Briggs and the score will reflect that. Head to head we beat them on the mat but I didn't have enough kids in the line-up to overcome the forfeits. Its early in the season and we have some more kids that will be in the line-up soon. Like I always tell my kids its not how you start in this sport but how you finish. I wish everybody all the best this weekend I'm traveling down to Logan.

Wow, so many forfeits! That just strengthens my belief that we need to move the duals to January (semis after Christmas break and championships the 3rd or 4th Wednesday).

That being said, CONGRATS to West for winning our semi duals. They came to wrestle and competed very hard (I was especially impressed by the young lady at 113! : thumbup:).

Hopefully, we get our full lineup together and come together as a TEAM that is focused and ready to compete. Clearfork duals next up on Saturday!

I feel you on all the forfeits I know we talked about this earlier but "where are the kids". At first I was thinking that I was doing something wrong until I started talking to other coaches and it seems that everyone is having the same problems. I had a few kids that said they were going to wrestle if they didn't make the bb team. Well most of them are on jv'b and hide from me when they see me coming. This just proves that we need wrestling in the middle schools. We need to push hard to get that started and be persistent and showing how it will help improve the overall school spirit. The other thing is to push for them to change our eligibility from 2.0 to 1.77 since they changed the grading system. The sad thing about the GPA change is when schools start loosing bb players then someone will stand up and start fighting for all of us.

I went back and looked at the results from last night and the kid in question wrestled at 152 in the first match. So that was a good lesson learned we have to declare what weight a kid is wrestling in at weigh-ins and make sure your pre-match weight report reflects the same. If anyone needs help let me know and I'll direct you in the right direction.

Good job hosting last night West I really liked the band doing their thing. That might help get more student involvement in our sport. I wish everyone the best this weekend.

The Mifflin kid weighed kid in question weighed in at 144.6 and the Mifflin weigh in sheet had him listed at 145. That is why we challenged it.

No, he wrestled at 160, pinned the kid from Linden. The pre-match weight sheet was a problem, but he still needed to weigh 145.1 or more in order to bump to 160. Lesson learned and moving on to bigger and better things! : thumbup:

Good luck this weekend to all the city teams.....our young lineup is in for a rude awakening at Clearfork on Saturday (and we will be without Tate & Chatman... ACT & work).
