Am I allowed to think he shouldn’t have killed the guy, but also not care that the guy died?

I really want to call you a name, but don’t want justin to be mad at me.

The man was murdered by someone who was immediately fired, and soon to be going to prison for felony murder, and you have zero sympathy for the man dying. It’s just..fucked up.

Word on Reddit is there’s a big protest planned for that shithole Bethel on Friday. Just reading the comments and seeing some of the footage of previous protests, this seems to be a formula for something bad happening.

Got a link? I know someone who lives there

Anyway, they threw the whole library at that Atlanta cop.

Audio & video didn't do him any favors.  He shouted "I got him!" and then kicked him.  Pretty much he completely lost it because the guy hit him a few times and stole his taser.

Oh, and one of his 3 shots ended-up in the fender of one of the cars in line.  So pretty much on top of everything else he fired his weapon when bystanders were at risk of catching a stray bullet.

Anyone still want to defend this guy?

Where did the video show him kick him?

I guess these mayors and big cities can get a whiff of whats its like to not have police on the streets.  Saw that Atlanta had over 500 police calls in without anyone to respond to them.

Well that would only happen if they all quit, since no city wants or is proposing that at all.

Did you miss where Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously to defund the police? Even if the mayor vetos their resolution unanimous is a veto proof number for them.

Albuquerque has already started creating a non-police group of unarmed social workers to go to 911 calls for things like drunks, addiction, and mental health. Well, in many of those cases if a person is calling 911 the person that is having the problem (drunk, on drugs, or mental health) is already escalated to the point that someone is scared for their's or someone else's safety. But yeah, lets bring in someone who has no ability to subdue the person with the problem to get them to the hospital where they need to go.

I have been in a situation where we had to call the police on a family member due to mental health and drug problem. The person had to/needed to go to the hospital/psych ward and the person did not want to go (was close to manic). There was NO WAY an unarmed social worker was getting this person to the hospital where they needed to be.

The person is doing REALLY well now, and "hated us" at the time for "doing that to them" but now they are in a great place and have no problem with what we had to do.

Again, no unarmed social worker was getting this person, who was dealing with drugs and mental health, into a car to go to the hospital.

Question...what does being armed have to do with that? lol. Did they end up shooting your family member into the car?

One could also say that if a segment of police is so upset about actually being policed themselves on their conduct that the concept of one of their own facing consequences for using deadly force causes them to walk out, those guys probably aren't deserving of a position where they have actual control over other people.

1. Grappling (wrestling and submission holds) to subdue to family member. Police are trained in this extensively, Social Workers are not.

2. You are being obtuse and it isn't funny. If you don't believe that a mentally unstable person who is on drugs can turn violent then you don't understand and have never had to deal with it. Once it is violent, what in the hell is a social worker going to be able to do?

3. There was nearly a taser used, the officer had it out and warned if they didn't comply that the taser would be used to force them to comply. So yes, the armed police is the only reason they ended up at the hospital where they needed to be.

That was kind of my thoughts too. Like the even whiff of any actual oversight, the police get all upset and go to the extremes.

Also, man, the DA announcing the charges yesterday for the Cop in Atlanta was pretty damning. The fact they have a photo of the officer kicking Brooks after he was shot and not administering first aid is pretty damning.

Police should be held to a higher standard and suddenly they are getting all outraged when we as a society want them to be held to that standard.

The place for evidence is a court of law. This press conference smacks of the DA getting ready to run for something higher.

He's actually in a run off election and facing investigation for stealing from his non-profit, as well as sexual harassment allegations. He also charged the officers before the GBI finished their investigation, which is unusual. Ironically, two weeks ago he said that under Georgia law a taser is a deadly weapon.
