Reddit is an absolute cesspool of liberal garbage. I used to love that site. Everything is so political and left-wing, really ruined it for me.

Can confirm.

I feel like it's already been this way for weeks. People on Reddit have been fucking insufferable about it.

DeWine: Gonna open up restaurants next week
Redditor: (with 196 upvotes) Well here comes the second wave of death good luck to hospitals keeping up!!

I used to enjoy reddit for for some of the humorous or cool stuff I'd find there.  But I had to delete it for stuff like this.  It was after the "Florida Morons" movement - when they reopened the beaches in FLA and redditers by the thousands claimed that those who went to the beaches had signed their own death certificates.  I think so far, the number of early beachgoers who've died of COVID is hovering right around zero.

The lockdown was shown to be a complete overreaction by week 2.  There was nothing to justify it beyond that, except that the people who enacted it had too much ego involved to reverse course.

..but over 100k Ohioans had it in March, and by April there was going to be 10k new cases PER DAY in Ohio.

Anyone see this news?

The study, by researchers from Harvard medical school, Boston University of Public Health and Boston children’s hospital, looked at images captured between January 2018 and April 2020 and found a “steep increase” in vehicle counts starting in August 2019 and peaking in December 2019. Between September and October, five of the six hospitals observed had their highest daily volume of cars in the period analysed.

They gave themselves the ultimate out - "if we're accused of oveerreacting, then we know we did our job successfully".  Instead, they could have said, "Imperfect information led us to error on the side of caution and shut things down for a couple of weeks.  Once we realized hospitals weren't going to be overwhelmed (not even close), we decided to adjust our strategy."  In reality, all they've done is keep doubling down.  Crazy.

Ohio still shut down the state for .03% of the population.  Doesnt seem quite right.

Did I read right that Cedar Point and Kings Island are opening and requiring masks to be worn?

Yes.

I have no problem wearing a mask at a store that requires it.

I love roller coasters and Cedar Point.

That being said; wearing a mask all day long out in the blazing sun is not happening and would be incredibly uncomfortable and maybe impossible.

I won’t be attending CP until this crap is over. Not boycotting, they can do as they please. But I just couldn’t do it.

All those HS aged kids that work there arent going to enforce that.  90% of people will be walking around with them hanging on their necks

I had previously brought up the casinos....Mountaineer is not requiring masks be worn while the Meadows, Rivers and Wheeling are. I can't believe all of the bitching on these FB sites about "I'm not coming since you're making me wear a mask...it's a FREE country !!!" These people are idiots. It's all about THEM and not the person they could pass it to. Is it uncomfortable? Sure, but I'd wear one if I was going.

I do love that argument thrown around by dingdongs. Yes, it's a free country. And the business is free to set its own rules. You're free to choose to patronize them accordingly.

Exactly. I think this Covid thing has been WAY overblown but I have a girlfriend who babysits 2 sets of grand kids. She's going to 2 different houses of people who have 4 different work locations then coming home. I have no idea what she may get exposed to and bring home. I'd feel like total shit if I was a carrier and someone died because of it. I know this is rehashing a lot of what's been posted on here but it's just freaking selfish of people that think it "inconveniences" them.

I think there’s a time and place for masks. Grocery store, restaurants, visiting relatives? Sure. At an outdoor theme park that will already be on guests restrictions seems a bit overkill.
Kings Island is opening beginning of July and first 7-10 days will be pass holders then they’ll open it up daily ticket guests. But it’s also going to be reservations only. I haven’t bothered to look but I wonder how booked up it already is.

Just wait until there's a second wave (I'm no longer convinced, hopefully it doesn't happen) and some of these governors/mayors try to lock things back down again.

I would think I would not bother with CP or KI this summer just in case the mask police are out in full force.
I believe it would just be too uncomfortable to wear all day and how it makes it that just more difficult to understand someone talking, Nah, Ill pass until next year.

It's really not that hard of a concept to grasp, yet here we are.  Same with the bake the cake crowd.

second wave?  Where?  You do realize that 90% of all coronavirus cases in the US came from 10% of the counties in this country.

LOL, "second wave" triggered an immediate hot take.

Yeah, the cases are rising, but the deaths are largely staying between 500-1000 a day. Cases go up as testing goes up...duh.

I do think if states or local places start to shit things down again, the public will resist. We are already tired of this shit. We have a short attention span and just want to move on to summer.

True, but you have to remember deaths are going to lag an increase in cases by about 4-6 weeks.  So we won't really have a great view until sometime in July.

Almost nothing we've learned about the virus supports mass shutdowns.

Spikes in deaths, or positive cases, or hospitalizations?
