Serious question for you, how do you know Trump and his family are not making millions selling influence paid by you and me?

My guess is Trump isnt going to do anything stupid or illegal with his businesses knowing that him and his family will be returning to them after his 2nd term is up.

And we as taxpayers have what to verify that?

So the American people just have to believe the word of Trump and his family even though most Americans currently don't? Cool.

You expect the same of Biden then? Just faith?

Trump hasn't revealed shit.  His giving jobs to his family and friends shows he's just more of the same.

Hunter Biden isn't his son-in-law. Jared is. Jared gets the important nepotistic gigs in this admin.

Jared Kushner is a sharp guy and is proving his worth daily; Hunter Biden is a complete failure.  Not sure why you want to go there.

Well you do remember that Pelosi likes to pass billions of dollars of spending that we have to read after it passes...just have to have faith in her

If there was anything remotely true about that the radical left-wing ‘MSM’ would be running with it non-stop.  But there is no there there.

So he must be the first POTUS to ever do this huh?

Obviously not. But railing against Hunter Biden's benefitting without acknowledging that Trump does the same stuff is incomplete.

So let me get this straight. You are saying if there was anything nefarious about Trump's finances and his business dealings the press would be running with it nonstop? But, since they are not, there is no there there. Ok, given your track record, that makes no sense. If the press was doing that, you would be screaming fake news and decrying it as false and misleading.

If the press was making it up and the enemy of the people, why are they not making up stories then?  You cannot have it both ways.

So, again, what actual measure, other than the word of Donald Trump do we as taxpayers have to verify that he and his family are not making deals or doing things to benefit him and his family while in office?

Nice deflection. I wasn't asking about a member of Congress, just the sitting President.

If ANYONE in the Trump family was making deals with their family interest in mind...the CNN/MSNBC news outlets would be losing their mind.

You really are a special little snowflake.

"All those guys do this bad thing!!!!!"

"Uh, your guy seems to do the same thing..."

"YOU HAVE TEH TDS!!!!!!!!!!!!"

But I guess that's the only sort of debate you can muster up when your tiny collection of brain cells is being forced into over-the-top propaganda mode and is given no time or ability to actually use logic.

I’m saying the press has hounded this guy like no one in history.  If there was anything remotely close to nefarious dealings benefiting his family personally we would know about it.  Not sure how you’re missing the point.

That's really not true.  He is 50% responsable for the perceived negative relationship with parts of the media.  Here's an example: yesterday a reporter asks him why he always talks about US coronavirus testing in terms of where the US ranks among other countries.  Even if her angle is to question his emphasis on "US first" vs. "all of world in this together", it is still a typical question that presidents have gotten since the office was invented.  Rather than explain himself, he throws a fit and walks off.  Then people like you point to it and say, "see, he's treated worse than anyone ever".  The reality is he doesn't like explaining himself for whatever reason and he doesn't like being questioned.  Even Obama - who you hate with a passion - had probing questions from reporters.  It comes with the territory.  Being scared off and leaving because he's mad is the same as his followers calling "TDS" whenever someone challlenges them.

FFS

Why would you posit that it's warranted to trust a politician based on "faith" before shitting all over it by pointing to a case where that doesn't work well?

Yeah, the point is you are saying the press should report yet you claim the press is the enemy of the people and you would not believe any of the stories they would report. You are trying to have it both ways.

What are your thoughts on the stream of stories the last 4 years about Trump's and Jared's business dealings in China, Russia, and the Middle East? Just google and you can find the stories. I guarantee it, you don't believe them.

My ultimate point though is a larger one. As taxpayers, we should get sight into all of the President's finances, holdings, and potential conflict of interest. Tax returns will help, but also a full divestiture of all holdings by a sitting President.  Trump has done neither of those things nor feels he has to. As a result, we are relying on the press but also "faith" to make sure the President is not fucking us.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. You want to say that the media hasn't treated Trump fairly on everything and that a number of them are looking for "gotcha" points more than anything else, I'd have no argument. But when you try to use that as a be-all, end-all argument to ward off any criticism of how he acts, you're showing you have no goal other than to be one of those core "useful idiot" supporters.

When Trump makes some vague "OBAMAGATE" comment and his response to being asked about it is to first give another vague "you know what it is" line and then abruptly end his conference because he apparently can't handle being pressed to actually explain what he's hinting at, that's not on the media.

When Trump brags about how great his COVID response has been and gets pressed on the times he downplayed it as insignificant before it spread in our country and his response is to fume about the "nasty question", that's not on the media.

The media has done their share of things wrongly as pertains to Trump. Trump also does his fair share of things wrongly, as well, with how he acts like he should be able to say anything at any time about anything and simply have it taken as fact AND anything to the contrary is a personal insult or unfair treatment. Both of those things are true. To pretend one is 100% of the problem and the other doesn't exist is delusional.

The issue at the end of yesterday’s briefing involved a reporter for a Chinese media outlet (which is really not a media outlet) asking another of her gotcha questions, to which he properly replied, ‘you should ask China that question’.  He was right.  Then she and another reporter would not let it go, so he ended it.  To think he has to answer to communist Chinese advocates is insane.  They started the fire.

No, the point is the press WOULD report if he was involved in nefarious business dealings.

If it is bad for Trump, or can be made to just look bad for Trump, you bet your ass it is going to be reported.

Can’t make it any clearer.
