DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL Speedway will host a two-day NASCAR Nationwide Series test on May 18-19. This will be an interesting test because it's the first look at the Nationwide's "Car of Tomorrow'' design.

The test is an important prep for this new design, which will make its competition debut in the July 2 Subway Jalapeno 250 Powered By Coca-Cola, part of the Coke Zero 400 Weekend Powered By Coca-Cola.

Among the drivers expected to participate in the test include 2007 Daytona 500 champion Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Justin Allgaier, Steve Wallace, Brendan Gaughan, Paul Menard, Colin Braun, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Brian Scott, Michael Annett, Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson, Trevor Bayne, Joe Nemechek, Landon Cassell, Steve Arpin and James Buescher.

"Red Bull Racing's Jay Frye said that Vickers had discomfort in his chest during his visit to Washington, DC on Wednesday and Dr. Jerry Petty suggested he go to an emergency room. There are several blood clots in his veins which were found during a CT Scan. Vickers is on medication to dissolve the clots. Frye says there's no timetable for Vickers' return, but he's been given a clean bill of health and clots are being dissolved."

I almost turned off the truck race because Busch dominated, leading 172 of the 204 laps., then a caution waved and all hell broke loose the last 8 laps.
    http://www.delawareonline.com/article/20100515/SPORTS06/5150318/1026/Busch-dominates--but-Almirola-first-when-it-counts
The crazy finish was set up on a restart with two laps remaining when Busch spun his tires while leading and Johnny Benson didn't come up to speed. Further back, Auston Dillon blew his engine coming down the front straightaway, and the race was headed to overtime.
Almirola pulled away from runner-up James Buescher and Justin Lofton during the two-lap overtime shootout -- as Busch ran out of fuel and was forced to pit. Ricky Carmichael finished fourth to ensure the top four finishers all earned their best career Truck Series finishes.

    I love the truck series.

10 laps to go, and Jimmie is a lap down due to a pit road speeding penalty.

It's about time for NASCAR to ask someone to plow into the wall so he gets the wave around and can salvage a top 5-10 (there's only 13 on the lead lap, Johnson is in 16th)

Holy shit, a race that ended on a green flag run!

    Kyle Busch takes it

Mayfields lawsuit against NASCAR was dismissed. Shocking!

"CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A U.S. District Judge has dismissed suspended driver Jeremy Mayfield's lawsuit against NASCAR.

Mayfield was suspended indefinitely last year for failing a random drug test. NASCAR has said he tested positive for methamphetamines. Mayfield sued in an attempt to be reinstated.

Judge Graham Mullen threw out the case Tuesday in Charlotte, saying that Mayfield had waived his right to pursue claims as part of becoming a NASCAR driver."

Nationwide Series Mustangs are on the track.

The next-generation cars look nothing like the Nationwide Series cars now campaigned. Many think the new car, which will be run in four events this season before going full-time next year, have more eye-candy appeal.

The Cup and Nationwide cars have always been different. Starting with the next-generation Nationwide Series car, they will use nearly identical chassis setups.
"This is the same chassis, center section of the car used in the Cup Series," Balash said. "We've all seen the on-track testaments how safe that car is."

"It's the same type of feel you get in a Sprint Cup car," Harvick said. "It's a 180 from the (old-style Nationwide car). What we've been driving has been around a long time.
"The big thing is you have room inside the car. It's drastically better. You have room to move around. Your head is not rubbing the roof like the current cars. From the safety aspect, there's no comparison."
