Why would you want such a thing? If Jimmie wins it this year again NASCAR will lose alot of its fame and fans.

I would love to see Harvick win it.

I dont think NASCAR will decline just because JJ wins another.

I will have to disagree with you there. I know many fans who have left just b/c he has won 4. More will leave if he wins 5. Do you not see the ratings and attendance lately? Is JJ winning responsible for all of that? No, of course not, but I'd bet the house he's responsible for a bit of that. A large bit even.

Question: Why do you think television ratings for NASCAR Sprint Cup races keep going down?

Helton's Answer: I don't know the answer to that. I think it's important for us to figure it out the best we can.

    Dear Mr. Helton,

    I figured it out.
    1) It's the new car, because the racing just isn't as good as it was before
    2) One driver winning all the time
    3) Your favoritism towards some drivers
    4) Changing the rules in the middle of the season,
    5) The boring ass commentators you have,
    6) The politics
    7) The Length of some races (Let's face it, 4 hours at California, Michigan, Pocono, etc is just WAY too much)
    8) You have become WAY too fucking corporate and have forgotten about your roots (Don't get me wrong, I know you have to expand to other markets, but for example, dropping Rockingham to travel to California? Really? Expansion is great, but expand to good tracks!)
    9) The current drivers don't have personalities like they once did (Blame that on you NASCAR for being too over reactive with fines/suspensions whenever a driver would let their true personalities show)
    10) The Chase format

I'm sure I've missed some but you're welcome.

    Sincerely,
A lifelong fan no matter what.

wonder if it will make Daytona as boring to watch and race as the repaving at Talladega and Bristol did.

I still blame 'Dega on the new car. Bristol? Yeah, that's the repaving that fucked it up. You don't go 2 or 3 wide at Bristol. Completely ruined that race for me.
  • Speedofsand
I was at the first COT race at Bristol and a couple after that. I thought it was just as good side by side. Progressive banking gives less bumping and banging. Wings are off, splitter is coming off, COT is gone. I think Nascar will have the cars how they want them next year. They are trying to make the action better to stop decreasing numbers. I wonder how much change fuel injection might bring in a year or two.

The last time Daytona was repaved was before the '79 500 - the best ever. That was my first one - got out of 9th grade for a week in Ohio winter and saw Petty, Waltrip, and Foyt race by Cale & Donnie. I watched that fight thru my dad's 10x50 binoculars. I'm looking forward to new pavement.

Now that I got that out of the way! LOL

What a final race it's going to be at Homestead. Anybody but Jimmie. I don't want to see a Toyota win it, but whatever. As long as it's not Jimmie Johnson! Hamlin has the lead by 15 points, but after this week, I think his confidence is a little shot. Where as, as you could tell from the post race interview, Jimmie Johnson is fired up, confident, and ready to do whatever it takes to put that 5th Championship trophy in his case. Harvick is still looming in the hunt being only 46 points back, so if Johnson and Hamlin have some issues, it could be Harvick who is able to steal the trophy away from both of them!

i might skip a football game on sunday (luckily Miami plays on Thursday) to watch the finale. going to be good, even if fuckhead johnson wins.
  • Tiger2003
Denny Hamlin will be alright. The Championship is still his to lose.
  • coyotes22
Harvick will win it, as Hamlin and Johnson fight it out, and wreck each other.

Kurt's 2011 ride. And no, the 'Sheli' on the side was not a mistake. They can't 'technically' put the name on the car yet b/c they are still under contract with RCR until the end of the season.
