SpeedofsandDaytona repaving job is so far so good. The first layer is on the tri oval. http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com/Articles/2010/07/Week-4-Update-Daytona-Repave.aspx
lol, they are promoting if you buy tickets this week they will give you a piece of the old asphalt. -
GoChiefsMother fucking Jimmie Johnson gets in the back of Kurt, spins him out. Elliot hits HARD into the wall, he's pretty banged up. Brings out the red flag.
-
JugheadNot sure what happened to cause Elliot Sadler to spin down, but his engine is no longer in his car and he came out writhing in pain.
Who wants to bet absolutely nothing happens to Jimmie? -

Eh, I'm pissed about it, but it was still just a racing deal. Nothing should happen to Jimmie. -
JugheadTherein lies the problem, there are several other just racing deals that get penalized while the golden boy gets off scott free with the same.
You also know that is part of the reason why they haven't called this race, yet. Nobody of significance in the bigger picture is at the front. -
SpeedofsandDamn, I just saw the wreck. I hope Sadler is ok.
I woke up and they were restarting w/ 22 laps left.
About time Ford wins a race
New sticker tomorrow will say 'Stay away from the track, Jack' -

Nah, they don't get involved much with 'racing' incidents. It's pretty much when you know that driver did something intentional is when NASCAR stepped in. What happened today happens every single weekend. He just got into him while drafting him, no biggie. -
GoChiefsDale Jr. to be on Shaq vs tonight at 9pm on ABC...
"The season premiere of ABC's primetime television series Shaq Vs. will feature Dale Earnhardt Jr. NASCAR's most popular driver and winner of more than 40 NASCAR-sanctioned races in a one-on-one stock car race against 7-foot-1, 325-pound Shaquille O'Neal. The program will air this Tuesday, Aug. 3, at 9:00 pm/et on ABC. (Check local listings for further details.) In the television series, O'Neal matches his skill and athletic ability against the best athletes, entertainers, and pop culture stars in the country by competing in their respective realms. Tuesday night's premiere will pit O'Neal against Earnhardt Jr. in a stock car race as well as champion speller Kavya Shivashankar in a spelling bee."
Finally...a race he might be able to win -
GoChiefsLooks as though Kentucky will indeed get a race next season.

SpeedofsandSadler is on Nascar now, said he was told that was the biggest impact recorded since they began using the black boxes. He has no headaches or neck pain, the HANS device is amazing. Still able to celebrate the truck win and go home with his wife and son from Pocono. When it happened, Biffle's wife immediately came to his bus to babysit so Sadler's wife could be with him at the care center. Pretty cool how it worked out they came back okay and Biffle's wife ended up going to victory lane. He is working with a phys. therapist this week, doing water aerobics, etc. to get back to normal. Dr. Jerry Punch said its a tribute to the car construction and astonishing that Elliott is not in intensive care, or worse. A long time ago Dr. Punch used to be in charge of the E.R. at the hospital in Bunnell, where Mardy Gilyard and former USA soccer player Eddie Johnson are from.
I'm betting the farm on Marcos Ambrose at Watkins Glen this week. Oy! Oy! Oy!
Just showed a preview of Shaq vs. , at Jr's place Shaq was impressed with the crib and property. I remember the race was at Concord, will be a cool show.
Kentucky going from 65k to 100k seats. My friend in Cbus went to a (truck?) race there a couple years ago, and it was 95 degrees. Other than that he had a good time. -

the problem with the other incidents is carl edwards is a fuckhead and can't let anything go. keselowski wrecked him in a move to win a race last year, and this year edwards wrecked himself when he tried to force himself into a hole that wasn't there in front of BK at atlanta. Then all hell broke loose from there.
Kurt will badmouth Jimmy and openly hate on him, but at the end of the day Kurt will go out there and do what he does with class (unlike 5 years ago). He's not going to wreck jimmy, but he won't coddle him either. -
SpeedofsandWatkins Glen
http://www.theglen.com/Tickets-Events/Events/2010/Heluva-Good-Sour-Cream-Dips-at-The-Glen.aspx
next year's schedule comes out Aug. 18th. Chicago will cut in front of NH to start the chase. Kentucky in July, Atlanta and Fontana losing 1 each. Phoenix to follow Daytona. -
GoChiefsLooks like Harvick is the front runner for the Bud sponsorship next year. Sounds like it's all but a done deal.
"Sources tell [ESPN's Marty Smith] Kevin Harvick will have a split sponsorship on the #29 in 2011, and Budweiser will be on the car in the majority of points races, as well as the two exhibition events. There are still some hurdles to jump to get the Bud deal done. RCR had no comment when [Marty] asked them about it. Budweiser, either. Budweiser and Harvick are a good match. His edgy personality fits the brand well. He meshes with the no-nonsense good ol' boy, red label demographic. I'm told Harvick did himself a huge favor with the way he conducted himself in Victory Lane at the Shootout in February -- beer in hand while saying and doing the right things in front of the company's new management." -

Glad to see Kentucky getting a race. But that absolutely blows about Atlanta. Why the hell they keep taking dates away from the better tracks is beyond me. Wake up NASCAR, whatever track you give that date to isn't going to sell out either. Also glad to be getting a second date away from boring ass Fontana. That's up there in my top 3 of bad tracks. That race is just absolutely horrible.
Don't get putting Chicagoland in the Chase either...they getting rid of New Hampshire in the Chase speed? I haven't heard. Why the hell put another mile and a half track in the Chase and take out a mile track? The Chase will then consist of 5 1.5 mile tracks and only 2 1 mile tracks, with 'Dega, Martinsville, & Fontana being the tracks that don't fit either criteria. I personally would love to see a road course in the Chases. Quit catering to Jimmie Johnson with the 1.5 mile tracks and mix it up a little bit! -
SpeedofsandNH will be the 2nd week in the Chase, after Chicago instead of right after Richmond. NH will probably lose their first race, Bruton taking it to Kentucky.
edit, Bruton losing Atlanta for Kentucky, but several weeks are switching. Fontana could be March or April, losing the 4th Chase race. I'm sure Kansas will add a 2nd race, taking a Fontana event. I'm hoping Martinsville will keep 2 and move from March to April. Lots of switching and shuffling for next year's schedule. -
GoChiefsYeah, I heard Kansas and Vegas will both have 2nd dates next year.

gerb131Robby Gordon for the win.

This is NASCAR..not off road racing. -
GoChiefsAnd just as I say that..his transmission breaks. Lol

Or not. I'm a Robby fan and he has had good results at the Glen but not this time. -
ts1227Looks like the drivers did a good job pissing one another off... Boris Said cut Stewart off so Tony wrecked him. Hamlin and Jimmie got into one another and Hamlin was pissed at him (and others) for driving stupid.
-
GoChiefsEh..that was all Boris's fault...he just ran Tony out of room...not much Tony could do but hold his line.

Was great to see JJ and Denny get in it together! That kinda made my day! Kurt with a solid 2nd place finish..moves up 3 spots to 4th in the points standings behind Harvick, Gordon, & Burton. Got 4 races to go before the Chase starts, and they are all tracks he is typically good at, so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a 3rd win of the year before the Chase. Of course, Jr. with another solid performance. Came away with a Top 30 finish! Falls 2 more spots back in the Chase standings to 16th, sittin' 121 points out of that 12th spot. He's in real danger to miss the Chase again too. Bowyer drops out of that ever important 12th spot and Mark Martin sneaks in. -
j_crazykurt needed a big week after last week's fiasco.

GoChiefsIt's official..Kahne will surprisingly be driving a Toyota in 2011 for Red Bull Racing. Enjoy your last few months Scott Speed.
"Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick has completed a deal to put Kasey Kahne in a Red Bull Racing Toyota in 2011, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. An announcement could come as early as Tuesday. Which Red Bull car Kahne will drive is still to be determined. Neither of Red Bull's current drivers are guaranteed to drive for the team in 2011. Team general manager Jay Frye has said a decision should be announced on Scott Speed's status by the end of August. Brian Vickers, who has been sidelined since May for the treatment for blood clots, won't know until November if the treatments worked well enough for him to return next season, although the team is optimistic. Hendrick had originally said that he expected to be able to place Kahne in a Chevy for 2011, but it appears it will be a Toyota, which signed a contract extension with Red Bull last year."
