I like the way this guy thinks!
I'm not a fan of him at all, but he seems like he is capable of winning it anytime now.

I'm not too sure about this year. Will take him and his new Crew Chief some time to click I'd imagine. If they get on the same page from the get go. They could be dangerous. I'm loving the addition of Steve Addington as the Chief. He won't take Kurt's shit like the other Chiefs did. As evident with Kyle's success...he definitely knows what he's doing too.

Everyone at JGR has had success with Kyle, I'm not sure it was mostly Addington.

Addington was responsible for at least 2 or 3 of Kyle's wins in 2008 b/c of some of the gutsy calls he made.

With the current economy I believe the larger established team will have a big advantage this year.
So for the chase I pick.
3 Hendrick teams- Gordon, Johnson, Martin
    3 Roush teams-Biffle, Edwards, Kenseth
    2 Gibbs teams- Busch, Hamlin
2 RCR teams- Harvick, Burton, Boyer (Take your pick)
    1 Stewart Haus team- Stewart

That leaves 1 spot IMO for:
    Jr
    Newman
    Kurt Busch
    Ruetimann
    Kayne
    McMurray
    Vickers
    Montoya
    1 RCR Team

My 3 contenders- Stewat, Johnson, Kyle Busch(love his win or wreck style)
    My sleeper- Biffle
    My Heart- Martin

I'm a Gordon fan but he lost his Kyle Busch attitude.

I really don't see a whole lot of changes happening in the chase between last year and this year.

    My chase picks are:
    Kurt Busch
    Jimmie Johnson
    Mark Martin
    Kyle Busch
    Carl Edwards
    Tony Stewart
    Kevin Harvick
    Jeff Gordon
    Denny Hamlin
    Kasey Kahne
    Ryan Newman
and I think the 12th spot will go to either:
Juan Pablo Montoya (Think he's out to prove last year wasn't a fluke) or..believe it or not..Dale Earnhardt Jr (Everyone gets lucky every now and then)

So he's going to improve on last year? If this indeed happens, looks like Mikey is back to being the worst driver in NASCAR. :p
  • pkebker
Isn't Waltrip retiring? and having Truex drive for him.
  • GoChiefs
He's still running part time in 2010. Truex did indeed join his team...he will be running the #56 Napa Toyota full time.
  • Darkon
New Rules. What is your thoughts?
    Restricter plate change.
The bump draft is back.(was it really gone?)
    Encouraging drivers to police themselves.

Lets get the personality's back in the sport. Get away from the scripted interview and say what you feel. Hopefully this gets the old style rivalry back. Payback on the track etc.. I like it.
  • pkebker
Restrictor plate races are almost always the most exciting races of the year. Nascar needs to try to make all the races more exciting, not put lame rules in place to ruin them. I'm glad they are going back to the old way. Now if only they addressed the COT issue. Some minor tweaks can make the cars drive much better...
  • 2quik4u
Jeff doesn't have many years left, so he needs to win it this year
  • Speedofsand
prkebke, they have addressed the COT, in April at Texas the wing will be gone and rear spoilers back on. http://jayski.com/

I'm ready for the Rolex 24 next week. I love those cars. http://www.grand-am.com/
then its out to see the sprints on dirt (see my avatar)
then the big races and maybe a couple nites at New Smyrna
    favorite driver: Mark Martin
prediction : 2010 Daytona 500 Champ Tony Stewart
and Tim McGraw will do a few songs before the race
  • Darkon
    Another rule change.
The rear wing will go back to the spoiler.
This should give teams some more room to adjust the car.
I personally thought the COT was a glorified IROC series.
  • slide22
No room on adjustment on the spoiler. Set at 70 degrees and no changes.
  • Speedofsand
Man those were the good old days when they would hammer the spoiler down until the car was fast.

Bobby! My all time favorite. I got to ride in his car when I was 8 years old at Midvale Motor Speedway. He and my grandfather were friends.
