I've seen guys pay the ultimate price at Daytona, Charlotte, and Indy. Daytona has seen more good times than I can remember, but a few times I'd like to forget. The best was '79, I saw the Cale and Donnie crash and fight through a big pair of binoculars. Petty had to hold off Darrell Waltrip and A.J. Foyt racing back to the finish. I thought the stands were going to collapse from the whole crowd cheering and jumping around. When Sterling Marlin won the 500 it was the first time all the other teams formed a greeting line for a popular win. I saw Dale Jr. win the July race after his dad crashed, the fireworks had 3's made into red bursts. If it was backwards, it was a big E. The fireworks are great at the July races. The new fanzone is a great place to watch the races. On top of the garage. Last year they expanded the rooftop patio, its nice to be able to move around so easily. You can see alot more of the track than you would think. Since 9-11 the rules of safety changed to take away grandstand comfort, the infield is the place to go at Daytona. -
Speedofsand(01-31-2010) On Jan. 21, Toyota recalled 2.3 million U.S. cars and trucks and halted production of eight models this week following reports of an accelerator pedal defect. Shares of Toyota stock have fallen 17 percent since the recall, according to a report on Bloomberg.com. And one industry insider familiar with inner workings of the manufacturer said Toyota was losing $500 million for every week assembly lines remain idle.
Toyota accelerator pedal defect...there's a Mike Waltrip joke waiting to be told. -

tigerfan82brace yourself for the disappointment chiefs it will happen this year!!!
-
GoChiefsWhat disappointment would that be? I do think Jr. will make the Chase this year. And I even believe he will finish ahead of Kurt. Lol. Kyle will finish Top 5...Kurt will finish Top 10...and Jr. will finish somewhere between the two. I'm not expecting to win a Championship this year with it being Kurt's first year with a new Crew Chief.

pkebkerSo what happens in the nationwide this season? Predictions?

SpeedofsandDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is getting ready to become a father for the second time.
He made the announcement on his Web site Thursday, then confirmed it at Daytona 500 media day. Gordon says his wife, Ingrid, is 12 weeks pregnant. Their first child, Ella, will be 3 in June.
Gordon joins a growing list of NASCAR drivers expecting children this season. Four-time defending Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and his wife are expecting their first child in July.
Carl Edwards and Elliott Sadler could become first-time fathers any day. Both their wives are due early this month. And Juan Pablo Montoya and his wife are expecting their third child in July. -

Craig 'The Crowd Pleaser' Dollansky won the sprint car race at Volusia last night in All-Star at the DIRTcar Nationals By University of Northwestern Ohio.
In the UMP Modified main event, Dave Hess won over the likes of Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace, Clint Bowyer, Ty and Austin Dillon, and more.
42 sprint cars and 74 modifieds were on hand.
Jac 'Wild Child' Haudenschild missed the race because he flew back to Ohio to be with his dad, who had heart surgery. Jac is one of my all time favorite drivers. I hope his dad gets well soon. -

SpeedofsandUNOH has sponsored this week at Volusia for about 5 years now.
huge crash in Bud Shootout practice. Hamlin, Martin, MacMurray, and a few more with minor damage. No one hurt at all. Mark was in the middle, drifted up, Hamlin had a run with 3 or 4 lined up behind him on the outside. Mark decided to give room, but Denny went to get behind Mark at the same time. Denny clipped Martin in the right rear, turned him into the wall and it was ON ! -
Speedofsandha, 2 laps into the next practice, Kurt Busch writes off his car after getting hooked by Montoya in the tri oval. Hard lick into the outside wall.
I'm outta here, going to see some REAL drivers tonite. -

-
SpeedofsandJac was charging to the front last night until the right rear Goodyear failed. Joey Saldana won in the Kasey Kahne Bud car. World of Outlaws would run tonite, but its gonna storm like a sumbitch this afternoon. Looks like a Friday night in the bars during Speedweek.
A few interesting names in the ARCA race tomorrow before the shootout. Nelson Piquet Jr. , Ricky Carmichael, Danica Patrick. Local girl Alli Owens was 6th in practice, 6 women are entered, but I expect a few not to qualify. One Ohio driver, Greg Sarff of Powell.
