The fucking thing isn't tied, why is it going to OT?GoChiefs wrote:
As for the GWC..it's part of the racing they are gonna have to get used to. It alters the strategy needed to win the race. If you are short on fuel..your ass better get in the pits just in case. If you don't, and you run out of fuel, it's nobody's fault but your own. It's just OT. Nothing wrong with it, just gives the fans a chance to see a green flag ending. Fans bitch when the race ends under caution, then they bitch when they get what they want. Can't please everyone.
I understood one for the sake of keeping it interesting, but 3 times creates a demolition derby for one (amusing the first couple times it happened this year, now it's just annoying), and it's impossible for crews to develop strategy when the ending of the race is now essentially open ended (could be anything from 2-15 laps extra including caution laps). How does anyone make a plan for that?
There is one plan to try now that makes sense, at restrictor plate tracks, if you have anything that even may be in question regarding tires or fuel, pit with 10 laps left because you'll have about 20 laps on fresh stuff to make it back up! -
GoChiefsWILD finish to the Nationwide race yesterday. McMurray tried to hook up with Harvick again..but there just wasn't enough room. Setzer HARD into the catch fence. Yet again, catch fence does it's job and holds the car in!

B/c the fans don't want to see a race end under caution. That's why it goes into overtime. I don't agree with the call at all, as a matter of fact, I hate the rule. But I certainly understand why they did it.ts1227 wrote: The fucking thing isn't tied, why is it going to OT?
Unfortunately, that's what the fans wanted, and that's what the fans will get. Most like to see the wrecks happen. Again, another part of the sport. Fans want to see it end under green, not a caution.ts1227 wrote: I understood one for the sake of keeping it interesting, but 3 times creates a demolition derby for one (amusing the first couple times it happened this year, now it's just annoying)
No, it's not. It's just another aspect to the race. Now, with 5 laps to go, you know it could still run another 10 laps. So, you ask yourself, do you gamble or do you pit for fuel? Do you take 2 or 4 tires? It's not any different than it was before, there is just another obstacle you have to take into consideration.ts1227 wrote: it's impossible for crews to develop strategy when the ending of the race is now essentially open ended (could be anything from 2-15 laps extra including caution laps). GoChiefsNewman bitching again I see. Saying 'Dega & Daytona shouldn't be points races. Junior talking about how those 2 races are nothing but a lottery as well. I find that kind of funny considering most of his wins have come at those two tracks.

It was good PR by NASCAR to listen to them, but in my opinion they made a bad situation worse by going to the 3 attempts. People (often not big NASCAR fans) have always made the comment that there is no point in watching any more than the last 10 laps. Doing this GWC over and over just multiplies this critique by about 50, especially at the larger tracks.
If I wanted to watch a 10 lap wreckfest where everyone has a chance, deserved or not, I'd go watch heat races at a local dirt track. -

I agree completely.ts1227 wrote: The fans were wrong, unfortunately
I'd recommend it! Much better than NASCAR!ts1227 wrote: I'd go watch heat races at a local dirt track. -
ts1227I enjoy both, my friend begs me to go to the dirt races with him but my lazy ass sticks with the occasional replay on Speed Channel
Those races are short shootouts by design though, NASCAR now runs 190 parade laps and ends up in the same place... which seems to defeat the purpose of running 400-500 mile races. -

u serious? Gordon was going so much faster then Jimmie and Jimmie wants to try and jump it front of him like a dumbass. That is not racing that is being a fucking retard.GoChiefs wrote: Can't blame Johnson for racing..I hate him as much as the next guy. But come on..this is NASCAR. It IS racing. I'm sick of watching them just hang around for 75% of the race. I liked the fact he was racing Gordon so early. Gordon's just doing what he does best...whining like always. If he doesn't want to race...stay the hell home.

Speedofsandts1227, you should go to the dirt track. Is Skyline still there ? I usually went to Atomic ( K-C ) at Chilli every week when I was at Logan. Jeff Gordon's first winged 410 win was there. I still have friends that run Muskingum now. If I lived in Ohio I'd be at Eldora 5 times a year, camping drinking eating and spectating.

Skyline is still there, running 410's weekly now. Still think the best track in Ohio is KC, but JMO.Speedofsand wrote: ts1227, you should go to the dirt track. Is Skyline still there ? ts1227My friend usually heads to Midway in Crooksville from Athens, he has a lot of friends who head there.
If there's bigger races elsewhere they will head there (they have no problem traveling for a good race), but when in doubt Midway seems to be the choice. -

Gordon had a run, and Johnson blocked him...that's called RACING. Gordon was by himself, so to think he was that much faster would be kinda ridiculous. You're not going to be much faster than another car at 'Dega without being hooked up with another car. Plus, it's not like there was 100 laps to go. It was the end of the race, there was only like 7 laps to go. If he wanted to bitch to someone, he should have been bitching at Burton. If Burton wouldn't have cut Bliss off, the whole wreck wouldn't have even happened.2quik4u wrote: u serious? Big Red MonsterI hope Gordon chokes out Johnson.
He is pretty pissed off with Double J right now. -

if gordon wasnt faster there would have been no reason for johnson to block him. johnson himself said he was trying to slide in front of Gordon late in Sunday's race so the two Hendrick Motorsports drivers could draft together toward the front. But, he said Gordon was coming too fast. Johnson's move instead had the effect of a block, and Gordon was forced off the apron in a defensive move. "Certainly, that was my fault. I made the mistake there."GoChiefs wrote:

Well of course it was his fault. I didn't say it wasn't. I said it was RACING. It's part of the game. Quit whining and crying about the 48 and move on to Richmond.KnightRyder wrote: if gordon wasnt faster there would have been no reason for johnson to block him. johnson himself said he was trying to slide in front of Gordon late in Sunday's race so the two Hendrick Motorsports drivers could draft together toward the front. ts1227It was racing, but it was stupid racing.
Gordon obviously already had a run, so he didn't need Jimmie. Jimmie just wanted Gordon to push him to the front.
If Gordon was THAT much faster, Jimmie wasn't going to help anything, and Gordon would have just gone around him in the next turn anyway. -
SpeedofsandRichmond has an impressive new scoring tower in the infield.

GoChiefsHendricks is in talks with Budweiser about a sponsorship deal starting next year. Sounds more and more like Martin will be out of Hendricks next year and Kahne will be in a year sooner than anticipated as well.
"Hendrick Motorsports general manager Marshall Carlson has talked with Anheuser Busch officials about the possibility of Budweiser becoming a team sponsor after this season, team owner Rick Hendrick said Sunday. Budweiser is looking for a new partner after its contract expires with #9-Kasey Kahne and Richard Petty Motorsports after this season. Kahne, who recently signed a contract with HMS to replace Mark Martin in the #5 in 2012 and a car to be determined in 2011, has said he would like to continue his relationship with Budweiser if possible. There were reports that HMS could not bring in Budweiser because of the team's relationship with longtime sponsor Pepsi, but Hendrick said that "depends on which car it's on." "In our deals we have rights of first refusal," Hendrick said. "We've got to go through that, but we're talking to anybody." Hendrick would be willing to supply Martin with engines and chassis if Martin decides to go into ownership. Martin recently said he would consider becoming an owner if he could find a deal like the one Tony Stewart got with Gene Haas. "I'd be open to anything Mark wants to do," Hendrick said. "He talked about a long time ago about wanting to own a truck [team]. I never heard him say anything about a car until [now]." -
GoChiefsPrelude to the Dream info has been announced as well:
