2016 Browns Season Thread

Lovejoy1984Manziel to start for the rest of the year, barring an attack from Petty Pettine.
-
Ironman92Haven't witnessed them but 49ers seem to be playing better the last few weeks
-
Lovejoy1984Browns are getting Blown out.

BR1986FBHeard Pettine's postgame presser and he had the nerve to say he was "pleased with the effort" or some shit like that. Said "you can go in that locker room and ask every man if they 'gave their all' and see what they say." Yeah, "gave their all" when AJ Green is open 10 yards for a TD.
It would be nice if some of these veterans would sack the fuck up and say "we suck....this ISN'T going to do it!" I think Hartline's about ready to explode and we may see that before the end of the year. What disappoints me is Joe Thomas. Not necessarily his play, although I think he's declining, but he's the ONE "staple" of this organization whose voice would hold some clout. Does he ever say anything? Nope. Just once I'd like to see JT lose it. Tramon Williams has already hinted that O'Neil needs to go and Dansby has grumbled a little. I think Haden's voice could fall on deaf ears as I'm skeptical as to whether he may be done.
I don't know who the Hell would be fit to be the interim coach for the last 4 games but, as a businessman, Haslam is making a poor call by keeping Pat Shurmur Jr (Pettine) in charge. The fan base looks about as apathetic as it gets. -

What about JT regressing again?
Haden has what? 3 more years on his contract? He isn't done. I do think Jt could say something, but it's not his personality and it will never happen. Too much of a classy professional.
Also, I think Pettine was speaking about their tanking effort, because if that is the case they did well. I haven't seen legitimate effort from this team (especially the defense) since week 2. -
IggyPride00When Mike Pettine comes out of whatever fog he's been living in he is going to be sick to his stomach at the opportunity he threw away in this town the past 2 years. I don't see how he becomes much more than a position coach moving forward given how poor his defenses have been since he left Rex.
Jim O'Neil may have trouble getting another job in the league period at this point. His real calling is being a gym teacher coaching JV football. It seems more his speed. -

Please don't quote PFF again. They're a joke. The same site who gave Aaron Rodgers a negative grade for a 5 TD performance and Josh McCown negative grades for his 457 yard performance, in a WIN, against the Ravens. The same site with some clown based in either Ireland or England, with NO football experience who became "enamored with the American game" (so he started critiquing it) who claimed the Browns had a "top 3 O-Line" and a "top 10 roster." You can pretty much wipe your ass with ProFootballFocus' opinion.like_that;1767969 wrote:

I agree that JT is not a voice that is normally heard but it needs to be.
I made the Haden comments because of his health, not because of what's left on his contract. -

I'm happy with the play of JT, but he is not a leader. It's just not his personality. This team needs players who will act as leaders. Johnny should have had his ass kicked by someone. A good team would have had a leader step and take care of things and make it clear that hurting the team will not be tolerated.like_that;1767969 wrote:

Agreed about JT not being a leader. Thomas is just "along for the ride" but it would be nice if he'd speak up because he's the only one in that locker room they'd have to respect. Manziel should've had his punk ass kicked by someone to set his straight..Al Bundy;1767975 wrote:I'm happy with the play of JT, but he is not a leader. It's just not his personality. Oh my bad do your prefer Cleveland radio, dawgs by nature, chat sports, or bleacher report? LMAO. PFF has football guys going thru the film to grade them, but yeah the guy who has never been to a Browns game and plays slots every Sunday somehow knows more about evaluating players than the guys who actually watch the film. Excuse me while I LOL, especially when JT secures another all pro season. I know you played football, but not sure if your coaches graded you guys out, but they did for us and I definitely recall there were a few times where my stat sheet looked impressive but I still received a mediocre grade. Or I received a good grade even though the stat sheet said otherwise. 22 NFL teams use the same grading system as PFF, just stop, JT is still an elite level and the beats tackle in the NFL.BR1986FB;1767974 wrote:Please don't quote PFF again. We probably don't hear from JT because he isn't dramatic and not the type to be passive aggressive and bitch to the media. He is a pretty honest guy from what I have seen, so it would be no surprise to me if he has let the FO know how he feels off camera.
Haden will be fine, just shut him down for the season. -
SportsAndLadyYeah BR let's have players speak up against coaches and management. Because that's totally their job. And why not, in a season from hell, throw in a little locker room tirade from our franchise Tackle. That'll really help out the Browns.

BR1986FB
Yeah, I played. Don't need "Cleveland radio, Dawgs by Nature, blah, blah, blah) as I've also COACHED it and have graded it out myself. You can SEE on the field when these guys are falling down, performance-wise.like_that;1767977 wrote:Oh my bad do your prefer Cleveland radio, dawgs by nature, chat sports, or bleacher report? LMAO. I don't need the "flavor of the month" PFF saying the Browns have a "top 3 O-Line", when they suck, "Aaron Rodgers was below par" when he lights up a defense for 5 TD's and "Josh McCown was below average in that Ravens game" when he played at a very HIGH level when you can SEE it with your own eyes. You can have your "metrics." I'll take the end results. That guy in Ireland/England is no more qualified to say who's good/bad than you or me.
And exactly what do "never having been to a Browns game" and "playing slots" have to do with being able to evaluate play on the field? Nice attempt at a pot shot, Pint Size. If this mindset holds true, I guess we should take what your scrawny ass has to say on the "Health/Weight Lifting" thread with a grain of salt too, correct? -

Who said anything about JT bitching about the coaches & management? A perennial All-Pro is going to carry more weight with his peers than these coaches.SportsAndLady;1767979 wrote:Yeah BR let's have players speak up against coaches and management. Lol this is rich. The guy who cried about FW calling him fat is now trying to call somebody scrawny without knowing what he looks like. Way to play into your roid rage meathead personality that you get shit for.BR1986FB;1767980 wrote:Yeah, I played. If you are busy playing slots how can you legitimately evaluate a left tackle? GTFO. You are playing the "I KNOW FOOTBALL!!" card to justify your evaluation of the best tackle in the league and it brings the lulz. Why don't you actually read up on why Rodgers was given an average grade that game instead of making a knee jerk reaction? Also keep in mine evaluating an offensive lineman is much easier than evaluating a QB.
Keep bringing up two performances to make your point, but the fact remains that the NFL teams use the same grading system as PFF. Also Aaron Rodgers is graded very highly overall on PFF, which is something I'm sure you would agree with. I guess PFF doesn't have enough drama for your liking. -
Commander of AwesomeInterim coaches always work well. See robiskie.
We have the #1 overall pick. I aim to keep it. -

First, you're the one who lead with the pot shot. Always the "go to" of the feeble minded so they can have good "feelz" about themselves. I just respond in kind.like_that;1767984 wrote:Lol this is rich. The guy who cried about FW calling him fat is now trying to call somebody scrawny without knowing what he looks like. Second, I don't go to the casino on Sunday.
As I said, enjoy your PFF metrics. Seems like more times than not, their evaluations are the opposite of the play on the field. I'll trust watching with my own eyes. In the same breath, I'll just smirk whenever you post something on the Health/Weight Lifting thread because, unless you have various certifications/education, your "opinion", just like what I posted here, is "opinion." -

Agreed. The only game I could see them possibly "lucking" into a win would be this week and I think these guys have already packed it in.Commander of Awesome;1767986 wrote:Interim coaches always work well. See robiskie.

Did you see Rodger's 5 td game you keep bringing up? Ir did you listen to sports radio fake outrage over it? Same sports radio that's acting like there is a debate between hasslebeck and luck? The same radio that is acting like Meyer is actively in negotiations to become browns hc.BR1986FB;1767987 wrote:First, you're the one who lead with the pot shot. The only person who would debate Hasselbeck vs Luck would be Mantooth. And Meyer squashed any rumors over the weekend. -

What pot shot? You told me to wipe my ass with PFF and I brought up Cleveland radio. Then your feelz got hurt and brought up the health thread which I found funny because you were literally crying on the suggestions thread about how FW called you fat. Nice reach there.BR1986FB;1767987 wrote:First, you're the one who lead with the pot shot. Always the "go to" of the feeble minded so they can have good "feelz" about themselves. There have been times you posted about being at the casino on a Sunday, not going to dig in and find those posts but you definitely did.
Your basing the legitimacy of PFF off two performances on QBs. When has there been any controversy on the other positions? None, because it's much easier to grade out linemen. You can go ahead smirk at my health posts, but 99% of the shit I post is from other sources and typically they all agree with what your preach. Nice fail. -

Sorry you interpreted the "you" to mean you specifically. It was meant as more of a general statement like "you, the masses" not "you, like_that." I'll need to be more specific next time.like_that;1767996 wrote:What pot shot? You told me to wipe my ass with PFF and I brought up Cleveland radio. -

With the fact he hasn't been canned yet, I'm getting the impression that the Browns brass doesn't think there's anyone beneath him qualified to even run this thing for 4 weeks as an interim.HighRoller74;1768013 wrote:What will it take for Pettine to not finish the season?
I'm no Pettine fan but just once I'd like to see him explode about the "talent" on this roster. Pettine is a shitty coach but Farmer has done him no favors with this roster.
