2016 Browns Season Thread

Luck was the consensus sure fire "no brainer." Newton, I believe, was also very highly ranked. Carr was a second rounder (doesn't count). Rodgers was a high value/luxury pick for a team who was very good and had a franchise QB in Favre. Manning & Rivers were also highly rated that year. I'm skeptical that Goof or Lynch will be as good as any of the guys you mentioned.
Again, I don't get why you keep saying you don't want to take a QB just to take one. NEITHER DOES ANYONE ELSE.

Do your job, evaluate the QB talent, pick the right guy. There will be one who is a franchise QB. Maybe not an Andrew luck. But someone who can QB our team for the next 10 years.

That person is there, they just have to find out who it is.

The panthers needed a QB they took Newton.
The raiders needed a QB they took Carr.
The packers needed a QB they took Rodgers.
The Giants needed a QB, they took (kinda) manning.

I'm not saying throw a dart at a QB and draft him #1 overall.

Do your fucking job, evaluate the prospects, find who is going to be successful (at least one will) and draft that QB #1.

We've been QB-less for 20 years. We finally have the top pick (assuming we do), and you want to take a D-Lineman lol classic Browns fan logic
    .
Regarding the Bolded, plenty of teams have passed on QB's to take other positions, and it's worked out pretty well.

Houston needed a QB, took Mario Williams, instead of a home town boy in Vince Young, or "Star" Reggie Bush

Raiders needed a QB, took Jamarcus Russell, and passed on two hall of famers directly behind him.

I agree that one of the QB's, probably Lynch, will emerge as a clear cut QB choice, but if none of them do, I hope the team just doesn't grab one just because.

Look at 2013 for example, none of the QB's in that draft ever separated, would've you taken Geno Smith #1 overall, strictly because we "need" a QB?

    Not necessarily.

2007, 2010, 2013 all failed to produce a QB remotely close to franchise QB, hell, barely qualify for NFL Starters.

My Hope, is that someone separates from the field, and ends up being a consensus top 5 player, and the Browns end up selecting them, but if they never do, I'm ok with selecting a different position.

I assume the Browns are still selling out every game (at least the tickets were bought).....is there any kind of rebellion within the stadium about the overall product? Saw on FB yesterday a couple Browns fans was asking if anyone had some 49ers apparel they could borrow for the game.

    Just thought that was odd.

You and your clan need to understand that Manziel is your quarterback here for the next 10 years or so. The sooner you accept that fact the more enjoyable your life will be. This team needs a lot of help be thankful that quarterback is not a problem here. Just bought my tix for Sunday.

Tickets for the Bengals game (online) were going for as low as $6. Heard you could get a box for under $20. The last game of the year is going to be a sea of Piss & Black, especially if there are playoff implications.

Same here. Have no issue with a QB if it's a clear cut no brainer and the guy looks the part but no more light in the pants midget QB's.

The stadium was half empty the past 2 weeks. This week there will be about 10,000 more seats filled because there actually ARE some fans that want to see some good quarterback play.

Signed..Drew Breez, Russell Wilson, Don Meredith. Bart Starr, Fran Tarkenton, Brian Sipe, Don Meredith.

Let's just talk about the first two since most of the posters on here are too young to really have experienced the last bunch.

Brees is successful because at his release, he's throwing like a 6'5" QB. He has a freakish wingspan. Wilson has proven to be able to shuffle and find throwing lanes from the pocket. Manziel just panics and takes off in a jailbreak when he even thinks someone is near him.

He's getting better but he still sucks.

Yeah literally none of the top QB prospects are this, so you can stop bringing this up every post. Thanks.

    Lynch - 6'7"
    Geoff - 6'4"
    Cook - 6'4"

Also last QB we took was Weeden, 6'4" with a big arm. Size ain't everything, its what is between the ears. None of past QBs we've taken had that.

Stop listening to Cleveland radio, boxes weren't going for under $20.

Can't stand when Browns fan say they want to stay away from a QB in the first round because they could be a bust. Seems like everyone else we pick is a bust, might as well take the chance on a QB.
About half of NFL starters were actually drafted in the 1st round. It's the decision makers up stairs which doom the Browns.

While Gabbert had a sweet pass to win SF's game last week, I think enough people remember the entirety of his career well enough that they aren't calling him "good" yet.

He also had 75 yards rushing including a 44 yard td run. I haven't seen anyone like him since Fran Tarkenton.

And there was this ditty from noted Johnny hater Mary Kay Cabot in the PD this morning. "Johnny was handed the staring quarterback job for the second time in 3 weeks". All this from the same dumb b*tch that said the Browns should cut Manziel 2 days befoer he blistered the Steelers for 372 yards, going 34 for 46 with 3 dropped touchdown passes.

No Mary Kay, Johnny wasn't handed anything. You Johnny haters are really quite the hoot.

And then there's Cueballs' gem saying Johnny has 4 games to show everyone whether he can cut it. No Cueball, 4 games without your 3 top receivers (the 3 dwarfsmen) and your best offensive lineman (Bitonio) is hardly a fair chance. Quarterbacks need a full season for evaluation you blooming moron. You benched Manziel after a scintillating performance against the Titans that electrified the crowd. A job well done. Had it not been for broken ribs to the starter, Manziel would never have seen the field this year.

Gonna be in the dog pound and if security allows me to, will be flashing my "Can Cueball" sign.

Dandy Don must have been out drinking with Johnny when he signed the midget qb note twice because Dandy Don was 6'3.

They have handed him the job several times, and he always does something stupid to lose it.

They like putting the elf back on the shelf.

And Manziel hasn't "earned" anything. The only reason Half Pint is starting is because he was a 1st round pick and they at least have to see if he has anything before getting rid of him. If he was a 4th round pick he would've been released weeks ago for his bullshit.
