Nope. And Ellington signing with Dallas might be the best think that can happen for the Cavs. Gives Dallas, who IMO, is the biggest threat besides the Cavs to get Bynum, even less cap space.

Good luck to him.

So what is going on with Bynum? I thought the Cavs said they want a quick answer or else they'll move on?

How long are they going to give him to make up his mind?

Didn't they use the MLE?

Yeah, the Ellington signing for the Mavs did not effect cap space. Even if it did, they wouldn't do it where it would effect their ability to sign Bynum.

The FA will now be a pretty bad signing

lol'd

I'll add that Atl fans will bitch next year that he didn't do enough to keep Horford. Should have traded for Carmelo or LBJ.

If they get Bynum....and he, Kyrie and AV are healthy most of the year....are they a bottom tier playoff team...or not quite? Seemed like every time I watched the Cavs last year (10-12 games) they had about 7-8 guys at or near double digit scoring, that would be tough to maintain if those 3 are healthy.

I think they can make the playoffs without a healthy Bynum.

Is AV full go from last season's injury? He was having a hell of a season but probably only played around 1/3 of the games and him not needing to score to be a big contributor seems very important with number of players that get decent minutes.

Can Bynum get them past a #5 seed?
• Commander of Awesome
Don't need to be 4 seed or better to make the playoffs.

As for your question, depends on factors Ironman. Can Kyrie stay healthy? Why type of improvement jump does Waiters/TT make? Etc...
• SportsAndLady
Cavs are definitely a playoff team this year, with or without Bynum. With Bynum they're probably a top 5 seed..without 4-8 range. IMO

I think they are a 6-9 range without bynum, and a top 5 with a healthy bynum.

I'd have to think health is the #1 key to the season for the Cavs, as Bynum (assuming he is there), Andy and Kyrie all have less-than-great histories of staying healthy. I mean, no one could win with some of the guys they've had to give big minutes to in the past couple years when their key guys go down for a bit or longer period of time.

I'd say the key is that when those guys miss games, it's only for the "bit" and not the "longer period of time". To go with the other young guys improving, as the more quality play you get from them, the easier it is to survive and not fall off when a key guy misses a week because he's banged up.

From RCF:
Windy was on WKNR, here is a recap:

-There is a contract on the table, it is very complex. There are a lot of games played, performance and getting to training camp incentives.

-Bynum is evaluating all of his options right now by visiting other teams.

-It makes sense for the Cavs to do this as if you look last year combine guys like Harangody, Walton and others combined $12M, signing Bynum for one year makes sense. Bynum doesn't guarantee success and he has very very bad knees and health problems. He supports going after him.

-Bynum is a very smart guy and could have been successful in other parts of life had he not been 7 foot. The reason he gets criticized is because he is smarter than people think and he sometimes doesn't see the whole field. He is an expert in knees and has really studied it and knows whats going on. Its frustrating that he does things that would hurt his knee when he knows better.

-Bynum was not interesting in signing long term is the vibe they received last year during the Dwight Howard trade talks. This is why they shied away from the trade. He has communicated that he doesn't see himself in Cleveland long term. The Cavs are offering more than what the Hawks and Mavs can offer. Its quite obvious Cleveland is an option but if he was in love with the situation, he would already have had the press conference.

-His trainer lives in Atlanta and he has lived there. Dallas is an attractive place to live. The Cavs have a good roster situation and they will have a 5-6 big man rotation, he wouldn't have to play a lot. MB and Bynum didn't have a great relationship but they had a good "working" relationship as Bynum had one of his best years with MB as his coach. There are a lot of attractive qualities the Cavs have for Bynum.

-He doesn't know of a relationship between Bynum and LBJ.

-He thinks the Cavs will go after AK47 if they strike out on Bynum. He had a solid year last year and he can play the 3 and the 4. Good defender and while he is 32, the market for him has dried up. The Cavs just drafted a young Russian in Karasev who knows AK47 and he could help

-If Bynum is meeting with other teams and you have the highest $ amount offered, then you probably aren't the favorite. If the Mavs get more cap space (trade Marion), things could change. The waters in Atlanta are very muddy now and it will probably come down to Dallas and Cleveland.

They talked about Windy's thoughts on the 3 year anniversary of the "Decision'. I figured I would publish the info on Bynum.
Cavs could be the 6th seed if everyone stays healthy.

I was reading last night that the Thunder might be the 4th or 5th best team in the West now. Clippers, Warriors, and Houston made some big improvements, the Spurs kept their two key free agents, and the Thunder didn't do a whole lot, while losing Kevin Martin.

Agreed. Top five probably goes 1) Miami 2) Indiana then 3-5) is a toss-up of New York, Brooklyn, and Chicago if Rose ever fucking plays again. Boston is probably out this year. Even without Bynum, the Cavs have to beat out Milwaukee and Atlanta.

dont agree that the warriors improved. Also still think Thunder are a top team in the West. As for the clippers I'll believe it when I see it. I feel I'm on this train every year, but Spurs could be on a decline.

Brooklyn could fall off a cliff with all of their aging vets. Not a bliever in NYK I see them as pretenders. Chicago will be tough. I see top 3 being Chi, Miami and Indiana. 4-8 is up in the air IMO.
