Oh that's a shame. The Perdomo Grand Cru is a very underrated cigar.Curly J;1392778 wrote:Well The Wife went to bed and now is my time to have one. A Perdomo Grand Cru. It's kinda dry but I'm liking it, as always.
Good news is I only have 5 more dried out ones left. Everything else is in my Humidors which are working good...finally.
Not sure what I'm going to have tonight. Might break out my Perdomo Edicion de Silvio. It's been a rough week already. -

Luckily they all weren't the Grand Cru. Still have 5 more left that are dried. A couple of Sancho Panza's, RP Fusion MM, and a couple of Hoya De Monterrey.
Tonight it was My UZI Weighs a ton. It was, well what it is. Good, but common. The other was a CAO La Traviata Maduro. Loved this one.
Might have to have another stick once The Wife hits the Sack....and I did have a few Woodford Reserves, but now it's back to beer. -

They should call this one the RP Kickintheteeth. Tasty, but it's burly.Curly J;1393920 wrote:RP Fusion MM -

Well The Wife went to bed and I'm halfway through the dried RP MM. Just walked to take a leak and damn is the smell through the Condo. Just hoping I can convince her in the morning that it is just my clothes.O-Trap;1393964 wrote:They should call this one the RP Kickintheteeth. Tasty, but it's burly.
The MM is smoking good even though it's dry. My mouth is still watering while smoking it. Love the kickintheteeth I'm feeling. Wish it was a little 'moister' because I'm liking it. -
Curly JAnyone ever try a Perla Del Mar. It was one of the featured cigars an the tasting I went to Thursday. Connecticut Wrapper. Great draw, kinda soft when pinched. Tastes of leather and cream. The Wife loves it as do I. A friend of mine announced after having one, "Hey! I just smoked a Football!"
-
O-TrapJC Newman. Never had it, but I've seen it. I'll have to try it sometime.
Just had an Opus X last night. T'was delicious. -
Curly JI'll just say I had this after a dark stick and it stood up well. Well enough I can't even remember the name of the prior cigar. After the tasting I went down and bought 4 more of them in different sizes. I'm close to buying a box of them. Kinda weird because I've been on a kick me in the teeth blow my lung out kick lately.
It's just freakin smooth. One that you can chain smoke.
I still have some Opus X. Need to smoke them one of these years. -
Curly JPicked up a Box Pressed Brazilia Carnivale last Thursday at the tasting.
I also bought 2 La Gloria Cubana's. These suckers are at least 9 inches long. I wonder how long these will smoke. -
O-TrapJust grabbed a box of Gurkha Vulcans. I think I'll test one out tonight. I'll let you know if it's any good.
-
Curly JHaving my first ever Opus X. Might just smoke 2 of them tonight. They are selling them at the Cigar Tasting. Very nice stick.

Buy them as you can. Tasty stick.Curly J;1428442 wrote:Having my first ever Opus X. Might just smoke 2 of them tonight. They are selling them at the Cigar Tasting. Very nice stick. -

It was great. Bought some more even.
I did have a Xen tonight by Nish Patel. Wasn't too bad being a lighter cigar and all. Felt like I could smoke another or 5 of them. Nice break from the dark sticks I've been having...Oh and The Wife was having an Acid Blondie. -

Honestly, every now and then, a cigar lighter on the palate is nice. Especially if you don't start smoking it until later in the evening or night. That way, you don't taste it all the next day.Curly J;1431620 wrote:I did have a Xen tonight by Nish Patel. Wasn't too bad being a lighter cigar and all. Felt like I could smoke another or 5 of them. My go-to is still the Man 'O War Virtue for that kind of stick, but the Xen is solid stick in a Connecticut wrapper.

O-TrapAlso, don't put too much into what Jonathan Drew told you. I remember CurlyJ said you guys talked to him, and Acid is one of his own brands.
It's marketed incredibly well (the Acid brand), though, so I certainly give him credit for that.
If you like something light and smooth, try the RP Vintage 1999 Connecticut. You won't be disappointed. Light enough that you could smoke it in the morning before a cup of coffee. -
gutSo excited for the weather getting warmer. I'm going to try to make a point of trying every cigar mentioned in this thread.
And I'll review them, but I'll feel like a wine idiot that has no clue what he's talking about. -

I know enough to know that's a fantastic insight. I still only have a dozen or two brands to my name, but it wasn't until I ventured into darker and bolder smokes that I really started to enjoy the taste.O-Trap;1431645 wrote:Honestly, every now and then, a cigar lighter on the palate is nice.
Anyway, I think the accompanying drink is critical. It's like wine and cheese in that regard (much more so, actually, because one can enjoy wine without the cheese). -

I believe her Rep comment was tongue in cheek.
Funny you mentioned the RP 1999. That's what I recommend as a transition cigar. Seems like I always have one on hand to give away to those wanting to transition over to the real things.
The Wife had the RP 1999 at Beer Fest last year and didn't like it. She ended up stealing my Tobak Especial Negro and smoking that instead. I was happy finishing the 1999.

Side note: I have this ash tray, and I know where you got it. LOL!Curly J;1428442 wrote:Having my first ever Opus X. Might just smoke 2 of them tonight. They are selling them at the Cigar Tasting. Very nice stick. -

Actually that is a ash tray at Jungle Jim's. I have an Oliva ash tray. I'll post pics one day along with my already full humidor. I really need to get a travel one too.O-Trap;1432194 wrote:Side note: I have this ash tray, and I know where you got it. LOL! -

Ah, then I retract the latter statement, but this is the kind that CI usually sends as a complimentary gift with certain purchases. Got one from them with a gift bundle awhile back.Curly J;1432332 wrote:Actually that is a ash tray at Jungle Jim's. I have an Oliva ash tray. Curly JFunny you should mention ash trays. I won a Camacho 3 stick travel container. I already had a decent leather travel container that my boss got me. Some Dude wanted to buy it from me that night, but I gave it to my cigar smoking buddy My cousin. He ended up trading it for a nice Room 101 ash tray from another one of our Cigar smoking buddies. The conversation was kinda funny when I reminded my cousin that I gave him that case and the ash tray should be mine. He offered it and I laughed it all off.
It was a cool ash tray though still in the box. -
Curly JStarting off with a RP.
-
Curly JMy next one was a C&C Corojo. I ended up letting that one go out own it's own very early in. Just too light. No flavor. Luckily I had an Undercrown to bring me back to life. Love that one.
Finished the night with a Camacho Triple Maduro stuby which was very nice.
Made it home so I might not be done as I'm craving another stick. We'll see. -
O-TrapHad a Perdomo Gran Cru tonight. Forgot how good those were.
Perdomo is, in my opinion, probably the single most underrated cigar brand (with Don Pepin Garcia probably in that mix as well).
