Nice! Never had the first ones, but the Cabinets and Gs are very good.

What kind of lighter did they get you? Torch, I assume. Brand?
Curly J;1560431 wrote:Looks and sounds like you both scored. My 2 lighters are in sad shape. I'll be buying a cheaper lighter tomorrow at the tasting. Both were free with the purchase of cigars. One lasted about 4 years. Not bad for it being free with a 3 pack of Cohiba's.
    Nice!

If you ever get the okay from the missus, get yourself a Xikar. Lifetime warranty, good customer service, and their lighters are badass. Not cheap, though, but it's nice to know you can just have it replaced if it doesn't work (which hasn't happened to mine in the last three years).

Had a Tarazona 305 tonight. It lasted from 5:15 until about 6:45...when I left from it being too cold. Nice smoke. The more it burned the better it got.

Trying a Rogue Ruthless for the first time. Not bad. It's a Cuban press so It feels weird in the draw.

Next up is the Gurkha Ghost.

I recommend going elsewhere. The Ghost was a disappointment to me.

However, perhaps you'll like it. We all have our own tastes.

I didn't even get to the Ghost as the Ruthless burned longer than I expected. I was going to have it since it was in the 3 pack of sticks that I bought last night. A friend of mine was having the Ghost and he said it was awfully light. Then we noticed a crack in the wrapper. A few minutes later the wrapper started to come apart. He was given a different one and he enjoyed it.

I never met a Gurkha that I didn't like. But then again, I am the kind of guy that will buy a box of Fuentes for an every other day smoke.

Fair enough. Yeah, it wasn't a lightness issue. Just didn't get much flavor out of the smoke, sans just smoke.

Maybe I should give it another go.

    Same here on Gurkhas.

Just got an Acid 1400CC and a Fuente something. Never had that one before and actually got it for free because it didn't have a price on it. Nice way to start the night!

I've had a few Acids before, mainly the Blondie. My husband used to smoke the 1400cc years ago which is just a larger Blondie. The 1400cc is just too much cigar for me as I enjoy smaller cigars. I had a CAO Bella Vanilla the other night. If you like flavored cigars check out CAO's line. I also love their Cherry Bomb. Also try a Tabak Especial if you like espresso/cocoa flavors. If I'm not wanting a flavored one I'll have a Drew Estates Natural. It's has a sweet tip on it, but not overly infused with a false flavor.

I've never had a Fuente, but my husband has quite a few of them in his humidor.

Tonight it's a Gurkha Royal Challenge. Started off kinda light at first, but some good flavor kicked in the last third. Not sure what will be next. Maybe Camacho since they are here tonight. No Camacho Girls this time though.
  • Curly J
Tonight's event was cigars chosen by one of Jungle Jim's employees that works in the Cigar Dept. Nothing special which I haven't had before...So I fired up a Sam Leccia Black. So much flavor. I was looking for a toothpick to stick it on so I could get every bit of it smoked. Finished the night with a Macanudo Cru Royal. It was alright. It was so cold tonight that they started the raffle a half hour early. Didn't really mind that I didn't totally finish the Macanudo.

Next week is Rocky Patel. Doubt HE will be there though...I'll be bringing my own anyway.

    Gurkha Warlord ... hell yeah.
  • Zombaypirate
having a Romeo y Julieta right now the Romeo.

Medium flavor but strong so far. Very easy to smoke and not hot at all. So far enjoying this one very much especially for the price. Around $7.00

    That's a damn good deal.

I'm contemplating having a night cap and a cigar out on my porch. I just have to decide if 30 degrees is too cold.

Understandable. I was at the cigar event last night. Rocky was the featured cigar, but I had a Cain instead. Bumped into my ex-wife's ex-husband...her third ex as they were divorced back in 2010. He was there for the first time an won a box of Rocky's. Go figure. Nice talking to him and finding out she hasn't changed since I was married to her back in the 80's...she's a cheating whore still.

Seems like the kind of conversation that needed to happen over cigars.

    and hopefully beer/whiskey
  • Curly J
Actually he was having a beer. I was having Woodford. I did mix in a Black Butte when The Wife went downstairs to have a pint with an old friend, so I drank hers.

I've always liked Husband #3 and we get along great. They spent close to 20 years together before he divorced her. My Ex didn't even have the nerve to tell our Daughter that her and Husband #3 divorced, so he broke the news to her. I've told him I was lucky that my Daughter had such a great Step Dad. He pretty much raised her as his own.
  • Curly J
I did give him shit because he won a box of Rocky's and he only smokes cigars when he golfs. Hell there were 2 boxes won from the table he was sitting at. Both of them were there for the first time. We call them virgins.

More ironic was the guy sitting behind me. His friend brought him a humidor and I'd be damned if he didn't win the exact humidor in the raffle. Dude left with 2 humidors...and a box of sticks. The box was autographed by Rocky Patel.
  • Curly J
Starting off with an Asylum Straight Jacket. Pretty nice smoke. The Wife is having a Java.

Tonight's feature Cigar is the E-Stunner. They also have an Element-Carbon and a LA Gloria Cubans Retro in the 3 pack.

Not sure whether to have the CAO Flathead or an Undercrown next. Hell I might have a Leccia White. Decisions decisions...
  • Curly J
Ended up having the E-Stunner. Decent stick. Keeps getting better as it goes.

Since I'm on a roll and 'Darbying' this thread...

Tonight's event is Montecristo. Might still buy my 3 pack. Maybe just for the raffle.

Currently having a CAO Flathead 642. Kinda a long stick but thin. Its a Cuban Press. Not to BSD. My Cousin won a box of these a while back so I'm enjoying his spoils.

They are having a Cigar For Warriors currently at The Jungle where you can donate cigars to the troops overseas. I went through my stash and brought in about 20 sticks to donate. They deserve them.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Curly J again.

    Someone help me out here.

    I'll rep for you. #modprivilege

Since it's warm enough, I may go out for a midnight stick here in a few. Will Darby about it if so.
  • Curly J
OTrap you were right about the Gurkha Ghost. Finally had it and was under impressed. For a stick that dark it should have more flavor.

Tonight is Drew Estates night. Might have to have me an Undercrown or Liga Privada No. 9 to make up for it.
