Tonight is Drew Estates night. Might have to have me an Undercrown or Liga Privada No. 9 to make up for it.
The Ghost is probably the most underwhelming Gurkha I've ever had.

Undercrown is a solid pick. Never had the LP#9. If you had that, let us know your thoughts.

I had a couple sticks yesterday. First, a Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne Reserve. Followed with a Punch Champion. Both are in the 'go-to' list. Champions were the first box I ever bought, but I've yet to get sick of them. The Champagne is probably my second favorite stick to match up with my Scotch (behind the Man 'O War Virtue).

Ended up having the Undercrown last week as a finishing stick. Never disappoints.

Starting off tonight with a Dunnhill Aged Connecticut. Nice flavor from this one. It's been years since I had one of these. Not sure what's on deck.

They have a Xikar Rep here tonight with a shit load of lighters and cutters...so damn tempting...

Well The Wife decided my cigar for me. A Rocky Patel Royale. She lit it and it was a bit too strong for her so I ended up with it. It's pretty damn good for a RP.

I'm a fan of RP. Particularly the Edge, the 15th Anniversary, and the Fusion Double Maduro (it will rape your lungs if you inhale).

I meant more about how it feels. You're not supposed to inhale a cigar, but it happens sometimes.

And the RP Fusion MM is really dark and really strong, so it would make you feel worse than most.

Awesome event tonight. It was the kickoff of my friend's Cigar company. They go by Tre J and their line is Vicarias. I ended up buying 2 boxes of their Blue label. A torpedo with a Corojo wrapper. It only cost me The Wife's car payment...lol...but worth it !!! Love that stick.

What was really cool was Sam Leccia showed up for it. He took a back seat yet chatted with people. Got my picture taken with him. He even gave me his raffle tickets since he had to leave, but they didn't win. :banghead:

How does one start a cigar company?

Manufacturer or shop? I don't know the answer to either, but I'm curious.

I really wish I knew. I say it takes LOTS of money and a lot of traveling. With Tre J there are 3 guys, Jay - the Money, John - The Prez, and Jerry - The Traveler. From what I understand Sam Leccia helped them out quite a bit and that was why he was there last night. Tre J started in 2011 and 3 years later they finally have their Vicarias brand out, so it takes some time. During this time was the same time Sam was in a non compete with Studio Tobac/Oliva, who he used to work for as a sales rep and a brand/line developer. I know that Vicarias is producted in the same factory that the Leccia Black is made.

I do think that the Cigar Industry is much like the Craft Beer Industry in which there is a lot assisting/support for each other, especially smaller brands. I have yet to hear a rep bad wrap another brand. In fact I've been to events and they all get along like many brewers I've met. Some reps have worked with other brands too so you never want to 'burn' any bridges. (see what I did there)

Maybe you can do it like one Man in the industry did...or rumored to have done. Turned lemons into lemonade...

Story/Myth/Legend goes a guy went to Nicaragua to buy a truckload of some type of 'not so legal tobacco'. (well it's now legal in some states). He paid for it and was duped as it was actually not that type of tobacco, but tobacco for cigars. So he started his cigar company that is now Huge !!! (Otrap has probably heard this before and knows who I'm talking about).

I should add I don't know if it this was real, but it's one story I've heard among cigar folks, so I won't mention his name. Heck it could have been made up by the person himself.

Yep, I know who you're talking about, and I've heard the story, too. Also heard that the tobacco he bought wasn't particularly flavorful, so he began "cheating," and he's become known for his cheat, which he still uses to this day.

How many DFH 90s have you had so far?

Haven't checked in from my Thursday Night events lately. Found out last week that my Cousin, who is part of the group I smoke with, is giving up the sticks. He sold his 40 cigars and his new stand up humidor for $150.00. He kept his nice lighter and cutter in case he wants to relapse.

Went to a Master's party tonight called the 'Shmasters'. A cigar friend of mine was hosting it. Great cigar lounge. Even has a nice built in gas heater.

Started with a Leccia White. Just love this one. It way up there in my list.
Then a Vicarias Blue Label. Bought 2 boxes of these a few weeks back as it's a friend of mines company and I love this cigar.
CAO Flathead 450 Spark Plug. Brand new in the market. I will get more of these to have every now and then.
Alec Bradley Filthy Hooligan. This is a candela that smoked very nice.

A cigar bar, sounds cool. Not any around here that I'm aware of. Why your cousin give up the sticks?

Well he has a lounge area. It's an outside patio that has been enclosed. It's got a couple leather couches and leather chairs. Mounted TV and gas heater for the cold nights. Pretty cool set up. He also has a nice collection of craft beers, Scotch, and Whisky. The guy runs the Cincinnati Scotch Club.

Not totally sure why the complete quit for my Cousin. I mentioned to him 'trying to get healthy'. He lol'd and said something like that. I know between work and restoring a Jeep he doesn't have the time to hang out anymore so maybe he's making a clean break and getting what he can for what he had. He was also into MMA when he lived in NY and has been talking about getting back into it. Oh well he knows where we'll be on Thursday nights.

Had a Padron 1926 the other night.

So good. One of my favorite cigars as of about 60 hours ago.
  • Curly J
I had a Padron 1964 and an Opus X in my hand to take to the party. Had second thoughts so I put them back in the humidor to smoke another day.
  • Curly J
Had a Vicarias Blue label. This has become my go to stick. I still have a box of these left.

Second one was a Liga Privada No 9. Damn fine cigar.

Saved the Herrera Esteli and Undercrown, that was in the pack, for another day now that it's getting nicer outside.
  • Curly J
Won a sampler box last Thursday. Had a couple of Opus X in it. I gave both of them away to my buddies. I have A few too many as you can see from my pic...never mind as this New Tapatalk won't let me add a picture. SHITTY App.
