Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

HereticStormcloak. Ulfric gives good speeches, so that was the high point of that whole thing. Well that and killing those bastard Imperials who don't want us racist Nords running everything!
-
gorocks99I did Stormcloak as well on my first go through, eventually I'll do Imperial during my second campaign. I do hear the sides are pretty similar in terms of tasks, but I was pretty pissed during Stormcloak that I had to [SP]remove Jarl Balgruff in Whiterun, 'cause he's a good character[/SP]

Commander of AwesomeI think I've encountered a quest glitch that I can't fucking get past. On the main quest line "The Fallen", you have to alk to the Jarl of Whiterun to let you trap a dragon in his castle (no clue). He says he won't unless you get the civil war mess settled and must speak to 2 other Jarls. Go see the Jarls, no option, nothing to progress the story. Anyone else encounter this?

whenever I had a glitch I went to the Skyrim wiki and they list the common bugs at the bottom:Commander of Awesome;1091667 wrote:I think I've encountered a quest glitch that I can't fucking get past. Tiny285JoeyIt happened to me too. I forget exactly what I did...it may have just been fast traveling between where the jarls were, as well as making sure you talk to the Greybeards. They have to approve to have the council at High Hrothgar first
-
Commander of AwesomeFinally beat the main story line this afternoon. Took me since Novemeber when it came out lol. Now I'm on the hunt for the last Dragon Priest masks, Daedric Artificats, Theives Guild completion, and I think I have 2 dragon shouts left to get. Other than that I think I've done everything.
-
gorocks99I started a new character and exploited the oghma infinium glitch to get to lvl 81 (from lvl 15). It's fun to dick around with that kind of power
-
Commander of AwesomeI'm at lvl 56 the old fashion way.
-
hasbeenI haven't played in a month. Need to start again.

Been around 2 months for me --- beat Uncharted 3 and Rayman Origins in the meantime, and now I'm playing SSX.pnhasbeen;1111647 wrote:I haven't played in a month. Need to start again.
Still waiting on DLC to bring me back to skryim... -
sjmvsfscs08I just discovered this game. I don't know what the fuck I was doing with my life before this. Holy fucking hell.
-
Commander of AwesomeHoly fuck indeed! I'm still playing, 3 hours a week or so at this point. Still find new quests to do, almost finished with thieves guild. Not sure where the DLC is, I would have thought some would be out by now.
-
sjmvsfscs08If I enchant something and the enchant is pretty weak (i.e. 6% burn damage)....does that increase as I level up my enchanting skill?
I have some slick ebony shit that I want to enchant, but my enchanting is still pretty weak. -
gorocks99
It does not. You'll have to enchant a new weapon once your enchanting skill increases, to get the benefits of the increased enchanting skill.sjmvsfscs08;1128823 wrote:If I enchant something and the enchant is pretty weak (i.e. 6% burn damage)....does that increase as I level up my enchanting skill?

Commander of Awesomegorocks is right, which is why its a good idea to hold off enchanting rare items like daedric weapons until you have enchantment skills maxed.

I know its a lot but id read this whole thread if i were you. Lots of good info.sjmvsfscs08;1128802 wrote:I just discovered this game. I don't know what the fuck I was doing with my life before this. Holy fucking hell. -
OneBuckeyeI need to get back into this. I still haven't finished the main quest. I was putting it off. Last I can remember I was going for 100 alchemy and 100 enchanting.
-
Commander of AwesomeI put off the main quest for a long time as well. It was actually pretty solid. Thieves guild is taking me a long time to complete. After that I'm going to knock out the civil war stuff which I've been avoiding because I didn't want to choose sides.
I was planning on starting a second character, but I'm starting to think that's not going to happen. I don't really feel the need/desire anymore as I'm leveling up the character in every area as is right now. Anyone else do a second playthrough? -
HereticI'm thinking about doing one after all the DLC gets released. Just because my current guy is so overpowered that he'd kill everything with no trouble and it's hard to justify paying $10-$25-whatever when I'd just run through it in a few hours without breaking a sweat.

I started my second character after getting to lvl 54 the old-fashioned way on my first and finding it damn near impossible to level up from there. I had completed everything and found nearly all locations (I think I was around 340 or 341 on that character). So I started my second and immediately did the College quest, followed by getting the oghma infinium and utilizing that glitch to get to lvl 81. It's fun seeing all the top-level spells, that's for sure. Fucking around in Skyrim and seeing what you can and can't do is fun.Commander of Awesome;1128934 wrote:I put off the main quest for a long time as well. It was actually pretty solid. Commander of AwesomeI've been upping the difficulty as I go along. I might change it to max it out today see if that changes anything. I've been trying to do sneak kills (my sneak skill isn't that high) so that's where I've been getting a bit of a challenge.

gorocks99
That's one thing that doing a second go-round allows; you can focus your skills to be basically opposite of what you did first time. My first time I basically LIVED for archery and sneak, creeping through all the dungeons and sniping off enemies. Second time, I'm all magic. It's a different experience, that's for sure.Commander of Awesome;1129119 wrote:I've been upping the difficulty as I go along. I might change it to max it out today see if that changes anything. Commander of AwesomeThat's what I did in Ovlivion. In Skyrim though, since you can level up any area, I've just been maxing certain things as I go along. For example I started out as a one hand, destruction spell. Now I'm on bow and arrow, occansional two handed weapon. I don't really feel the need outside of redoing quests to start over again.
If I were to do another character I think I would do a pure sneak/illusion guy. I think Illusion is the category I've given the least amount of attention. Followed by conjure. -
sjmvsfscs08I'm on a quest with a talking dog. A dog. WTF.
This game = GOAT. Nothing really comes close. My mother is worried about my Architecture Calc class this quarter because of this game.....with good reason haha -

Bad move picking it up during school....It's worth it, though.
I did the same thing with Oblivion when I was in college, and I turned out OK.
