If I were you, I'd look up the UESPWiki for Skyrim. They do have ways to get around a lot of bugs. Don't know if they can help you with that problem, but they have ways to get around some of the potential things that can happen with that quests (which is one of the buggier ones in the game).gorocks99;1025392 wrote:Ugh ... first major bug for me. After breaking Madanach out of jail the Markarth guards won't stop attacking me. They actually ask if I want to go to jail, I say yes, and they just attack me anyway. City is closed for me I guess. -
RotinajGettin this for xmas tom. My wireless router hasnt been working so i havent been able to connect 2 xbox live. Are the bugs bad enough that i should try like hell 2 find a way 2 download the updates before playing?

There are a few I've noticed that are a little game breaking for certain quests, but it's not unplayable or anything without patches....I'd try to get it wired up for some patching when possible.Rotinaj;1025644 wrote:Gettin this for xmas tom. This is a common problem, and exactly why I haven't finished this quest. Hopefully the 1.4 patch will fix this, but I still haven't installed the 1.3 patch because it can just ruin games from what I understand with removing all resistances.gorocks99;1025392 wrote:Ugh ... first major bug for me. Try doing the drinking contest quest if u haven't already. It can fix that bug.gorocks99;1025392 wrote:Ugh ... first major bug for me. Thanks - did that quest yesterday, went back to Markarth and it's just the Forsworn in there now, no random attacks or buggy arrest attempts. Back to trying to jump over mountains!OneBuckeye;1028791 wrote:Try doing the drinking contest quest if u haven't already. It can fix that bug. -
hasbeenGot the game last night and put a solid four hours in. lots of shit I don't know. Will have to read this entire thread. Boooooo

HereticOne flaw with doing a million minor quests before starting the major guilds and stuff: dungeon repetition. For a couple of the more randomized quests with the Companions that serve as "busywork" between the major ones, I got sent to a pair of places to fight Silver Hand members. You can tell that Silver Hand guys are basically just Bandits with a different name (they even have the same randomized dialogue), so I think that for the most part, they just take all the bandits in a dungeon and rename them "Silver Hand".
And so, last night, I did two dungeons that I'd done for quests before. I'm guessing they narrowed down the possibilities to "LARGE BANDIT FORTS", so as not to give you a quest taking you to a cave with only 5 guys in it to fight, and I'd been to the two they gave me before. -

I felt the same way with Oblivion --- it's just a huge game with a ton of stuff to do and a ton of possiblities.pnhasbeen;1028914 wrote:Got the game last night and put a solid four hours in. lots of shit I don't know. Will have to read this entire thread. Boooooo
Post up any specific questions you have here and I'm sure we can help. -

The abandoned house quest in Markarth is some creepy stuff...Some daedric dude named Molag Bal is scary.

He was my favorite Daedric personality thus far in the game. I found him hilarious. And the mace you get from him is pretty sweet.McFly1955;1029997 wrote::spoliers:

hoops23Well, just got my new PS3 so I can get back to the game. Only thing that sucks is I have to start ALL THE WAY AT THE FUCKING BEGINNING.
My original playthrough I was a Nord two handed specialist.... Think I'm going to do some kind of sneak/thief character this time though... Probably more of an evil character. -
Commander of AwesomeI'm mainly a warrior with one handed weapon and destruction spells on this play through. I will be be doing a sneak archery character next. That might not be until March though lol, I've put in 100 hours into this game and I have barely touched the main quest line nor have I finished a single guild completely.

I am the same and will also be doing the same. Although I am only 70-80 hours in and at level 30. I have the mages and theives guild done and am on the last dark brotherhood quest.Commander of Awesome;1031065 wrote:I'm mainly a warrior with one handed weapon and destruction spells on this play through. I have so much apparel in this game its annoying. So many items with different enchanments from alchemy to smithing to lockingpicking and my main combat armor. There needs to be a better way to manage all this crap. -
Commander of Awesome
I don't change my apparel, just keep on my same dragon armor. I wish they would release a patch that would help organize your chests better, its annoying to not have it broken down into sections the way it is in our inventory.OneBuckeye;1031068 wrote: I have so much apparel in this game its annoying. I stay in the Whiterun house and I have 1 cabinet full of smithing crap (ingots, jewels, leather, etc.).
One chest is stock full of weapons and armor I don't use much but didn't want to sell.
Another chest is full of potions.
It's time consuming organizing it all, and very frustrating when you accidentally select 'take all' in a chest and add like 600# pounds of crap you didn't want to take, then have to individually put it all back...Made this mistake once. -

Oh thats a good idea, never thought about doing that.McFly1955;1031090 wrote:This.

I've done that too, I just restarted from my last auto save, still annoying. -
HereticI just have one chest (in Whiterun), but I only really ever save unique weapons and armor. Wait...I might have some dragon scales in the dorm room in Winterhold. I'll have to check that place some day.
I never really keep other stuff around long enough to need to save it. Anytime I get ore or ingots, I'm immediately smithing things just to raise smithing. And as powerful as I am now, I don't really need any potions other than a few healing and magic recharging ones. I keep a couple pickpocketing and element resisting ones around for emergencies, also, but haven't really had to use them. Around when I got to L35 or so, things started getting easy and now, at L43, I'm rarely even needing to use any strategy. It used to be that I'd exploit enemy AI with archery just to survive. Now I do it to toy with the enemy.
So I'm thinking about raising the difficulty, as I am doing the main plots of the game now. Nearly done with the Companions and a decent bit into Dark Brotherhood. -
OneBuckeyeSo are u an archer? I just did the black star quest and it was on of the toughest ones combat wise I have done in a long time. I am level 30 dual maces and destruction type.
-
hoops23Started a new game as a Dark Elf. Having fun with the thief/mage style of play.... Dual welding is something I missed while playing my two handed Nord specialist.
Also going to put a lot into arching -
RotinajPretty awesome game. Got it on Xmas and am lvl like 25. Picked dark elf and pretty much just dual wield destruction spells or a destro in 1 hand and healing in other. Seems to work pretty well. Don't really have many problems with anything aside from the toughest mages. Still get 1 hit killed from giants so I have to do a couple hit and the keep hittin while he chases. Azuras star quest was a bitch at the end. Had 2 run around healing myself and hiding behind things while getting shot at.
-
Hb31187Finally got the game, Im pretty amazed by it so far. Gonna have to go back and re read this thread now though.
I started off with a Wood Elf class though, gonna go with a stealthy type player, pickpocket, lockpicking ect -
Heretic
I use archery as my "easy way out" in conjunction with sneak. If there's a tough enemy, I use archery while in sneak to get the 2x damage and if you're good at sneak, the enemy probably won't find you and lose interest, allowing you to do that indefinitely.OneBuckeye;1032430 wrote:So are u an archer? With the Azura's Star quest, though, that doesn't work because the Dremora will just rape dat azz when you go into the star. I think I just chugged fire and shock resistance potions and sprinted past them to the wizard, killed him and evaded the Dremora until I got pulled out of the star. My main deal is two-handed beat downs, so he was easy to pound when I caught up to him, but getting there was a bitch because those exploding fireballs are rough to absorb. -
hoops23I'm going to try and play for an extended time period tonight... Hopefully I can get some things done and get close to where I was before my PS3 took a shit.
