How Much Trouble Is OSU and Tressel in Now?!

centralbucksfanthedynasty1998;708447 wrote:Can you quit pretending this was just another email he received. From the email you can tell he had a friendly relationship with the attorney. The attorney isn't going to go to him with a bunch of bullshit. And he stated facts regarding the case in the FIRST email.
So you want to assume Tressel looking into it, found nothing, yet emailed the guy back two months later asking for other names.
It's laughable you would call this "hearsay". It obviously wasn't and from Tressel's email replies you could see he had concerns.
You better believe the NCAA will be investigating what Tressel did back in April. If he really just chose to ignore them, after emailing back and forth with Cicero, then he really will be in trouble. That will be just as big of an issue as the lies to the NCAA were/are.
And you really believe, two of the most respected people in the country at their positions, Smith and Gee would stick their neck out for nothing? -

How can you continue to act like you were fucking there, and know all the in and out? Your SPECULATING, simple as that. YOu know no more than any other Joe Blow reading the papers. Yet you act like you fucking know it all!!thedynasty1998;708450 wrote:He said he thought they would be ruled ineligible.

It doesn't matter whether he looked into it or not, he thought they would be ruled ineligible.
I am NOT denying it could be worse, or as bad. What I am saying, is YOU nor anything don't know JACKSHIT so STOP acting like you do! Its not that simple...that I do know. -

I read the fucking report, which you obviously failed to do.
What exactly am I speculating about? Seriously. -

(iv) the "inevitable" would occur at some point if the student-athletes were involved in criminal and/or NCAA violations.
Can you read? "IF" the student -athletes were involved in criminal and/or NCAA violations. IF, IF, IF?? LOL its plain as the sky is BLUE. Its not and admittance of knowing they were. He knew they would IF they were involved he knew they would be. -

I'm not running my mouth about Tressel. I said IF he didn't know they would be ineligible he should be fired for incompetence. He has been a head coach for how long? And was an AD for how long? You think he doesn't know what are or aren't NCAA violations? He must have just forgot that too along with the emails right? -

That is pretty much lotz in a nutshell, and all he provides when it comes to him posting material related to Ohio sports. -

Again, you post nothing related to the topic at hand. -
centralbucksfanAnd lastly before I start to watch some more bball...let me make myself clear. I am NOT defending Tressel. He fucked up. What I am saying, is that this issue is not as simple as what we are reading in the paper, the emails, on the internet. I have NO quetion, good or bad, there is MORE to this. Tressel maybe a lot of things, but he is not a stupid man. He fucked up, made a mistake. But he isn't dumb enough to continue to compound a MAJOR issue by lying or continueing to lie. Not after he had been called in by his superiors. That I don't believe for one second.
I also believe this because Gene Smith and Gee are standing up for him. They wouldn't do this unless there was something to the story that we don't know. And may never know.
Maybe when this is all over, he deserves to be fired. But again, I have NO question there is more to this story. -

So I think I understand what you are trying to say, and tell me if I'm wrong:
You think Tressel didn't believe the email and/or the email-er? -

I didnt say anything about the emails. My point is that there are alot of OSU fans that are sticking by Tressel. Yet there are a few people on this thread, you're one of them that just isnt satisfied. In your opinion, what would be a good punishment for Tressel? -

You think because Gee and Smith were in the press room with him, that they are standing up for him? I don't.
And I don't think he is stupid, but he is assuming that WE ARE. -

LOL...because they were there? NO, Because of what they SAID...absolutely. I find hard to believe any AD or school prez, with the national respect these two have, would stick their neck out, as they did...if it was as bad as you and others are making it out to be. -

I don't know what a good punishment is at this time. It depends on what else comes out. All I'm saying is it doesn't make sense to say that he didn't know they would be ineligible when he has all of the experience he does in dealing with NCAA compliance. I don't know how people can believe that. Everyone says how smart he is (which I do agree with) but they think he didn't know who to talk to and didn't know it was a violation? That doesn't add up. -

It appeared that Gee had absolutely zero clue what was going on with the whole situation. I understand he is a respected university President, but even he has said he has no business discussing sports. -

That is my problem. He must think we are too stupid to question this. -

LOL...in case you don't know, Gee probably has double the IQ of this entire OC. He may come off goofy and not knowing...but don't kid yourself. The guy is one of the most powerful university presidents in the country. I'll gaurantee he knew what the fuck was going on, and then some. -

I don't doubt he is very intelligent, but I would willing to go out on a limb and say his IQ isn't double everyone on the OC. I acknowledged he is a respected university president. Athletics is not his domain though. -
centralbucksfanthedynasty1998;708499 wrote:That is my problem. He must think we are too stupid to question this.
I don't disagree about him saying what he did about not knowing who to go to. Not sure I would call that a lie as much as Tressel doing his usual Tressel talk bs, in circles. The big question is who did he forward the emails to. Because he obviously did. And I think thats where the major question is and why Smith stepped in and interupted saying they could not discuss certain things. -
pmoney25If this was posted already sorry, I m not reading 40 pages of this
But the Lawyer said that once he sent the email to Tressel, that Tressel replied that he would take care of it ASAP. He also said that when he meant confidential, he meant confidential from the Media/Public not the University/NCAA. And now this guy is actually receiving death threats and being labeled a "Judas" What an embarrassment. This is a freaking football team and coach we are talking about and people are going this crazy about it.
As an Ohio State fan, I am one who can think rationally and understand that Tressel F'd up big time and now has to pay the piper. A lot of these so called OSU fans are the same ones who laughed at USC or laughed at Michigan or any other school who got caught but now can't swallow the pill once our team gets busted as not being squeaky clean.
Tress got caught lying, plain and simple. yes we all make mistakes and no one is perfect but sometimes you have to take accountability instead of pleading ignorance. -

I agree, however, even if he did forward the emails, it's irrelevant. So, for the conspiracy theorists who think he sent them to Gene Smith, well he is apparently taking the fall so he looks bad regardless.
