How Much Trouble Is OSU and Tressel in Now?!

  • sherm03
    Uh oh Buckeye fans...

    http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news;_ylt=AihfcGP9AnZhesuIvzwwzio5nYcB?slug=ys-osuprobe030711

If true, it could mean some bad stuff for the OSU Program.
  • sleeper
    None.
  • Midstate01
If true, this is a bigtime violation. I don't see tress trying to hide something and I hope not. But we will see I guess.

Or a lot...if the accusations are true.

So far the story is that someone says that they told Tressel....
  • sleeper
    It's Yahoo.

    Anyone can post rumors.
  • Midstate01
I do think it's kinda funny that it's such a big deal. Yet that kid at Washington state gets a drug possession and gets one game. Seems backwards, but regardless if this is true it's a major violation.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what does that have to do with this yahoo story?

That I think it's funny these types of things are bigger then drug charges... That explain it for you. Or does someone have to die and cry all night for you to get it?
  • Scarlet_Fever
I just skimmed the article so hopefully I didn't miss something. From what I read probably no trouble. Unless there is proof that Tressel and the athletic dept. knew there will be nothing new added. This is stuff they have already went through an investigation on and punishment handed down. In my opinion, there would have to be some hard evidence and not just someone's word that Tressel and the athletic dept. knew.
  • charliehustle14
Yeah I'm not worried. I mean Cam Newton can claim he had no idea his dad was auctioning him off. There would have to be hard evidence vs Tressel here....like a tape recording, etc.
  • sherm03
I agree, they are going to need evidence. Somebody saying that Tressel knew beforehand won't be enough to cause any trouble for the Buckeyes. But if they do have something concrete, it could mean some serious sanctions.

But if there was something concrete, it'd be out by now in all probability. Not 3 months after the investigation was conducted and closed.

The OSU fans will believe Tress and other fans won't. Every body will get their panties in a bunch and nothing will come out of it IMO.
  • Midstate01
I agree. I don't have any reason not to believe tress until there is a real reason not too.

    Hahahahaha. I lol'd.

Sounds like hearsay to me, but I'm sure theres more to come.

If this is true Ohio State and Jim Tressel will be looking at multiple major violations and some serious sanctions. The problem more so than the actual cause of the violation's itself would be the fact that if true it would mean that Tressel and OSU lied to the NCAA.

If the NCAA can prove that you lied to them they will hammer you like no tomarrow.

    a) Go fuck yourself.

    b) You're retarded if you think a college kid smoking some weed is a bigger problem to the NCAA than a college football player accepting benefits as an amateur athlete.
  • ytownfootball
I would assume that anything new regarding a decision already passed down would come up during the appeal. So what would happen? Keep the 5 game and not go to 3/4? Frankly they're paying a pretty heavy toll for a relatively minor infraction in the grand scheme of things, I don't see anything else coming of this. You would have to show proof Tressel knew...proof, not some asshats saying so.

If it didn't make any sense the why'd you get so pissed?

Sorry but selling items from a game isn't as big as doing illegal drugs. Just shows how f'd up our society is.

This isn't a blog. Yahoo! Sports has actually probably broken more later-confirmed stories like this than anyone in the past few years. However, this story/investigation is based off of one anonymous source. Which means that unless there is evidence of communication about this issue between the source and Tressel (tape recorded phone conversations or saved emails) then nothing will come of this.

Seriously? As long as it is illegal breaking a law > breaking an arbitrary rule
