How Much Trouble Is OSU and Tressel in Now?!

Even if it's just to say "We've been informed about the Yahoo! story and we are looking into it, we have no further comment at this time, but we will be scheduling a press conference in the next few days." That would be enough. Complete and total silence doesn't seem good.
I agree with this. I feel like behind the scenes should have gone:
Article is published. Gene Smith contacts Tressel
GS: Jim, is there anything or anyone out there that could have proof of this claim?
JT: No. I found out about everything in December, just like you.
GS: OK, good.
Then a press release or a conference to address it to say that the report is unfounded or that they are looking into it further would have been enough to keep people at bay.
Not saying anything leads the general public to believe that there is something to this, and that OSU is scrambling right now to figure out what to do. -
bases_loadedColin Cowheard has tressels back. The fact he isn't using this opportunity to shit on us is a good sign to me.

I agree, how can you not have his back though. When you don't have proof and an anonymous source. Even if it was Lane Kiffen its still shady accusations at this point. That said we don't know what Yahoo! has or don't have. -
OneBuckeye@AdamJardyBSB OSU asking parents of players not to say anything until after university releases comment. Some sort of presser expected.

I just said by 5 so that the news programs could get a statement prior to airing. Now it's just a day of speculation for all the talk shows and radio hosts.
It really doesn't matter either way, but a 1:00 statement may have been beneficial. -
bases_loadedIf he's done. Meyer will be here by weeks end. Him stepping down paired with shaziers decommit and osu commit plus the retirement rumor all happened too close together. Almost like it was known. Plus you have gene Smith arguing over a timeline.

Probably not but in my predenial mode I'd like to think if JT messed up that bad he somewhat fixed the future of the program.
Cowherd and Rome seem taken aback. Basically if saying if its true and the vest can't be trusted. Who can? -

That can't be a good thing -

Odd but it would be worse if it was just Gee, or Gee and one of Smith or Tressel. I am hoping he is just providing backup and will be firing back at Y!, Gee doesn't hold back like Smith and Tressel might. -
bases_loadedWould feel better if it was Smith that's for sure.

Good or bad, it's obvious OSU isn't going to fuck around with this. They are either going to come out and crush this report, or it is really bad and there is going to be some sort of major announcement. They aren't having these 3 guys available for a presser to "no comment" through it. -
krambmanTressel's book signing tonight at Barnes and Noble on High Street (7:00-9:00pm) has been canceled, which isn't surprising since the press conference is happening at the same time.
The fact that Gordon Gee will be at the presser doesn't bode well. -

That's true, Gee isn't afraid to speak his mind even if it upsets people.
