Agreed on the optimism for this week and going forward. Hopefully the tired, played out phrase of "the Browns will lose because, Browns", which I've probably used myself, will soon be "Browns will win because, Baker."

And as far as this game goes, with 10 days to prepare I'm expecting Baker to do well against a WORSE defense (Raiders ranked 20th with 3 sacks and 1 turnover) than the Jets (ranked 8th). Raiders have no pass rush and unless Baker has an uncharacteristic brain fart I don't see him turning into a turnover machine in this game against an unopportunistic team like Oakland.

This is like nothing I've seen since Kosar or Sipe. The kid is electric and his teammates all gravitate to him.

It’s one half. Take it easy.

Its not a tired played out phase if it keeps happening lol (see: week1, week 2).

And if you want your most likely "because Browns" scenario, the Raiders kicker (Nugent) is out and they are auditioning kickers. In the past, my "because Browns" way of thinking would've had the Raiders signing Zane Gonzalez who would go on to kick a GW field goal on Sunday.

Doesn’t matter. Browns DID go Browns. Until I start seeing any different (not just one game), I refuse to believe we are going to Coast by a team on the road.

Well my prediction wasn't a "coast." It was a 4 point win. COA's predicting the blowout.

I think they will win but I'm not seeing a beatdown.

Unless Baker shits down his leg, which I just don't see, all signs point to him gashing this Oakland defense. They are giving up 6.9 yards per play, get no pass rush and don't force turnovers.

Oakland, through 3 games, has a very solid offense. I think 6th overall and 7th passing.

BUT...

Browns D has allowed 19 ppg so far. Their opponents have averaged 32 offensive ppg in 6 non Browns gms. Browns are 6th in the nfl on D allowing 5 yds/play so far. Their opponents have averaged 7 yds/play in 6 non Browns gms. That’s beyond ridiculous

Also don't want to get ahead with this, but so far the Steelers and Saints offenses have only been slowed down by one defense...

This is part of the reason (and I'm getting ahead of myself) why I think the Browns are going to beat Atlanta. They have a good offense but are soft as fuck as a team. If the term "finesse" were to be used to describe NFL teams, it would be Atlanta & New Orleans, to me. I think the Browns defense can bully Atlanta's O-Line....again, getting ahead of myself.

You predicted 3 tds by baker. If baker puts up 3 tds, with our defense, we will beat the opposing team by way more than 4 points.

Defense gives up 20, which is about their average, and a special teams botch accounts for the other 7.

Sorry, the Browns didn't "because Browns" yesterday. For as shitty as they may have played, they had the game taken from them on a crappy refs call. Oh, and the "they lost in week 1 & 2 because of the kicker" doesn't hold any water because Oakland's kicker missed two FG's yesterday and they didn't seem to have an issue winning.

On a side note, I think a lot of us overestimated this defense. They shut down two HOF QB's in week 1 & 2 and then get diced by middle of the road Derek Carr? And where was Denzel Ward yesterday? Didn't hear the dude's name called once.

Just hope after a crushing loss like this that they don't go into a funk/downward spiral even though I don't think Baker will allow that.

He didn't look great yesterday but his performance said enough to me that they have their guy at QB.

They definitely "because browns" yesterday.  They were in complete control of that game.  14 point lead, they had the ball, and then completely imploded.  Broken record here, but this is not shocking considering this is a Hue Jackson football team.  Name me one well coached team in the NFL or College that consistently finds ways to lose like the Browns do...  Hell, name me an average coached team.

I do agree with Br the defense was trash though.  I don't think any of us would disagree.  They let Jared Cook look like Gronk.  I wouldn't even consider Jared cook a top 15 TE in the league.

Him and Cooper were running wide open all day. Probably bc we blitz every down and the zone falls apart

Which would be great if the blitzers were actually getting to the QB.

I've been bullish on Myles Garrett as of late but was pretty disappointed in yesterday's output. Was expecting him to thoroughly dominate the rookie LT and just didn't see it. Then I thought "maybe they're chipping him with a RB or TE" but most times it looked like Kolton Miller was handling Garrett one on one. Garrett did have a few good plays but I expected a truly dominating game, which I didn't see.

And I'm not putting blame on him. The whole defense sucked. Was just expecting something big from #95.

The defense was trash. Which is why it was “Browns will be browns” game. The defense has looked great for 3 games and the offense not so much. Then we get 42 points out of the offense and the defense decides to suck? That is the textbook definition of “browns will be browns” and then for BR to say it wasn’t because the refs screwed them?! That is ALSO a “browns will be browns” thing.

No, not really. A 'because Browns" thing to me is a Dwayne Rudd helmet throw, a blocked FG against the Ravens that gets returned for a TD, etc. Not a crappy defensive or offensive performance. "Because Browns", to me, means that something so preposterous that couldn't be fathomed happens because of their own doing....something that almost no other team would ever do.

I will give you one "because Browns" moment from yesterday and that was when they took the 14 point lead, get the ball back and Baker fumbles deep in their own end, setting up an easy TD for Oakland. That was about the worst thing that could happen to screw their momentum.

He was the only one on the front 7 that seemed to be playing in the 4th quarter.  Also, let's not forget the refs stole a strip sack from him.
