Right? Just casually forgot to include an FCS team and a CUSA team.
posted by wildcats20Please never compare a mid level MAC program who HAS to schedule games like ND and KSU to keep its program running to Ohio State.
BG is getting paid a small fortune to play those games. No one pays OSU to play them.
While the truly important fact here is that Classy's argument is hilariously stupid at best, as when you compare a MAC program to that of a major, title-contending one as far as scheduling goes, you've already lost before you even put the period at the end of your sentence, I do need to say that calling BGSU a mid-level MAC program is an insult to the actual mid-level programs in the conference. Those fucks were 3-9 and gave up 40+ seven damn times last year!
posted by queencitybuckeyeWould high draft picks playing for a low seed against a powerhouse make a different decision because it's the playoff?
Guaranteed? No, but how many people on ND or Oklahoma skipped their semifinal games? If the games matter, players are more likely to treat them as important. If they're a glorified exhibition taking place a whole month after the season, they're more likely to be treated as a nuisance not worth their time.
Simple fact is that the FBS is about the only level of legitimate, organized football in the country that does not have a legit playoff like the NFL, other levels of college football or high school football does. The only reason they don't is because TEH BOWLS MATTER!!! And while playing in the 13th installment of "random 6-6 team vs random 7-5 team" in December might be cool if you're a MAC/Sun Belt team or a mid-to-low-level major conference team that wouldn't sniff the postseason if it was 32 teams, it doesn't have that allure when the teams are legit and have legit aspirations.
And when the best arguments against an expanded playoff are "instead of shitty bowl games, we might have shitty playoff games" and "but having more teams takes away from the regular season because it's so much more fun when one bad week kills your whole season!!!", there really is no argument.
posted by iclfan2Because you need 6-8 to figure out the top 4. Clearly they were wrong this year (and lots of people knew it).
You don't need to "figure out the top 4". You only need to figure out the top team and/or maybe the top 2 teams. The point is it doesn't take 6-8 teams in a playoff to do that.

According to you of course. And your opinion means jack shit.
Well MSU just embarrassed themselves. What a clusterfu k
Northwestern/Utah game is quite Jekyll and Hyde
NW a 6.5 point dog, and win by 11. Another B1G team wins when they aren’t favored.
Yet A&M wins as a 7 point favorite and everyone wants to jizz on the SEC.

That’s the point, it’s all about money and wins. So Miami Ohio and FAU get huge payouts to get their ass kicked and us fans get a shitty game.
The thing about college football that is so unique compared to other sports is how much a team changes and either improves or declines during the year. I think that’s why it is so difficult to judge who the top four teams should be when you have to reward a whole body of work. That’s what makes college football so special in my opinion and why I’m not for expansion.
Fact remains Ohio State looked amazing at the start, then looked like an unranked team for almost two months barely beating Maryland and Nebraska while getting crushed at Purdue before waking up and lighting the fuck out of Michigan and Notre Dame. Likewise Michigan was highly touted all year, handled most of the Big 10, and was thought of by many as the hands down favorite to win the league. Then they get skullfucked in Columbus and killed in the Peach Bowl.
Thats my problem with saying OSU and Georgia should make it, of course they’re part of the four best teams in the game. But you can’t just throw away that earlier part of the season when they hadn’t figured it out

^thinks osu played Notre Dame/tries to talk about college football like he knows what he’s talking about^
OSU vs. Notre Dame was probably best game of the year...

From a competitive standpoint, it wasn't. OSU LIT THEM UP

Apparently was so bad that the game didn’t count in the records or playoff considerations.
Tough luck for the Buckeyes
Burrow hosed, he got in and marked a yard back
LSU not getting any breaks....refs missed a clear holding on a 25 yd TD run
Burrow gets destroyed and announcers and replay guys aren’t getting the 2nd hit after the initial killing....after getting destroyed legally the guy hemet to helmets Joe and bounced his head hard off the turf.
I hope #44 Evans gets his
I don’t think LSU is getting hosed at all. They’re just not very good and UCF was whooping them.
UCF win has to happen to justify 20+ game win streak
They also missed the defensive holding or PI on the DB who got the pick 6 who pushed the receiver away so he could get room to make the interception.
Another blow to the helmet not called wth???

They hadnt even thrown or mentioned a flag 30 seconds after happening and onto commercial break.
Cold they take longer? They finally got it...90 second after I posted it
Orgeron calls a timeout with 3:25 while UCF is punting?
Coaches just can’t grasp the clock
I forgot how terrible Brian Griese was
