Masks are now mandatory in 7 counties across the state.

posted by justincredibleCincinnati announced a mask mandate last week, starting on the 9th. Why the huge delay? If they work, why let the "plague" continue to spread for a week until they are mandatory?
I assume it's to give people time to get a mask to be in compliance. Although I think you could have made it mandatory immediately but announced no fines for 7 days.
That seems to be the reasoning behind a lot of the reluctance to mandate social distancing and masks. OK, don't enforce it - but you don't have to tell people that.
I mean, it's not surprising but it is sad that you have to lie to people because the truth makes them ignore your recommendations.
Hamilton County's cumulative case count went from 5,901 on July 1 to 6,158 now and we're a public emergency county? Hospitalizations went up by 9 in that same period. Two deaths.

How big of a dickhead do you have to be to go into a store where everyone is wearing a mask except you.
Y'all seen the dude from Costco screaming at the elderly person? He's already been fired from his job.
someone should check on his wife and kids.. if he has any.. this just gives off "i beat my wife" vibes. to scream at a random person at costco.. i don't even want to imagine what his home is like pic.twitter.com/qir4cHcZSW

DeWine seems worried how the median age of infected is shifting younger and I don’t get why. Would he rather the median shift older and affect more people less likely to survive?

I saw a bunch of hospitals in FL and AR are at max ICU capacity, but nationally the deaths are still trending down slightly. About 5-7 more days and we can probably say a surge in deaths is not happening. I've been wondering if hospitals aren't admitting people they don't need to in order to keep the lights on because they're losing a lot of money with elective surgeries on hold.
Trump, maybe unintentionally, got something right for a change. Said only 1% of people get hit hard by Covid-19. Of course that drew the predictable outrage. But in this case, the math checks out.

Beaches and Backyard BBqs don't make sense to be with airplanes and above grocery stores/ offices/ and waiting rooms. Pools, Playgrounds, and Pontoon boats seem high too, assuming they aren't butts to nuts.
Before deactivating her facebook account, my wife was seeing a ton of facebook ads from local hospital networks basically begging people to come in for elective procedures. "Hey, we're open for anything you need! Please schedule an appointment! We're desperate!" was basically the tone.

What a shock that the entitled generation doesn't want to spend their summer sheltering in place.
Also, LOL at Cuomo stopping people from out-of-state when he cried for months that he couldn't stop people from driving to the next county or city.

The city has a ton of masks ready to hand out to those that don't have one. They don't want people calling the cops on people without masks, they're supposed to call the health department and a mask will be given to them.
No bars, restaurants, movie theaters, concerts or sporting events for us, and I'm not sure when we'll be ready. My husband goes to the gym very early in the morning and wears a mask. He also plays golf.
We've been to small gatherings in backyards and driveways, but that is the extent of our summer entertainment. I'm fine with it.

Jesus....WTF made this list? How can an hour church service be higher then 8 hour school day?
Grocery stores and golf are equal? Same with beaches and airplanes? A playground and a casino?
This is getting stupid.
I just saw a link a few minutes ago that the CDC is about to downgrade COVID-19 to not being an epidemic anymore (current time) as the definition of epidemic requires a rise or spike in death rates or deaths (can't remember) and the death rates are continuously dropping.

They’ll conjure up something else shortly
Cincinnati Police Department said they will not help in any way enforce the mask mandate and the idiots on twitter are freaking out because they don't understand the difference between a law and an order.

Surprising considering they know everything
Saw way less people wearing masks today then last week.
Why is everyone in Ohio so anti-mask?

Is it an Ohio thing? (And that’s not me being a smartass, I don’t really know how different it is elsewhere.) Its really disappointing how people argue and take sides on every fucking thing. Wearing a mask is (should be) harmless and insignificant for basically everyone.

And after all we’ve been through in the last months, what you said is so so true.

All of my Facebook friends who complain about “muhhh rights” with the masks are Ohio friends. I watched a sheriff in Ohio give a speech about how he won’t be enforcing the mask order (rightfully so) and in the comments section it was all “Thank you for upholding the constitution!”
I live in Chicago and everyone just wears a mask and it’s not a big deal at all.
