My wife works at UC, and has been remote since March. Found out today she’ll be remote the entire fall semester.

My wife works for one of the main medical distribution companies (they provide all the supplies and PPE to hospitals). She has been told she is working remote for the rest of the year. She has also been telling me PPE stock is still really, really, really low. Hospitals are still being allocated low ammounts and encouraged to save as much as possible.

Wonder if they’re super backlogged (and if so then why the demand for more testing if it’s taking up to a week to get results?) Even in the very beginning of all this it wasn’t taking more than a few days right?

This was at a Rite-Aid pharmacy drive thru. I'm assuming they have to ship it off somewhere for results but that is a bit long to wait.

Interesting........I saw a rack of about 1,000 masks for sale at the local speedway.

I'm talking like N95 level PPE, additional gowns and sterilization equipment....not just masks you can pick up at speedway.

Some N95 masks, and even some cloth masks, have one-way valves that make them easier to breathe through. But because the valve releases unfiltered air when the wearer breathes out, this type of mask doesn't prevent the wearer from spreading the virus. For this reason, some places have banned them.

WTF does that have to do with hospitals buying PPE from medical supply companies?

It's CC being CC. Best to just ignore him, since he probably doesn't even know what he's trying to say.

My uncle works at U of A as well and he says the same thing. No idea if he will still be employed come fall.

Sucks to see my alma mater go down in financial flames.

I personally feel like it’s something the president has wanted to do and now has an excuse to get rid of professors  by invoking force majeure to bypass their union.  it’s typically tough to get rid of professors bc of their union.

Dayton has 4pm press conference regarding mandatory masks. Let’s just get on with it and make it fucking mandatory already.

You mean governors/mayors have the power to do this?  /sarcasm

We really need to stop electing people who's only talent is campaigning.

We’re going to close the beaches and you shouldn’t hang out with your family on July 4th... also

In COVID COMEDY (at least it made me laugh), I read a tweet saying that in Knox County, Tennessee, they had a vote on making mask-wearing mandatory that passed 7-1. The only "no" vote was from mayor Glen Jacobs. Who became famous for being the masked pro wrestler Kane.

The entire "masked pro wrestler becomes mayor of decent-sized city and has anti-mask vote" deal is just awesome!

I'm a huge fan of Glen Jacobs, both as a person, and politically. He's the closest thing to a libertarian the Republican party has at this moment now that Amash has jumped ship.

Big happenings at the OHSAA yesterday.  Snodgrass was let go (fired) from his commissioner position.  I hear its because he would back or give the nod to some changes.

I hear the OHSAA is looking at moving some sports seasons around and he wasnt having it.

Discuss things that seem too high or low. Not sure if this figures everyone no masks or what.

We've been going to the bar up the street from us more frequently now since it's opened back up. We'll continue to do so. It was no worse than any restaurant we've dined in at since they've opened back up.

I would also attend a concert and a live sporting event today. My wife has been going to the gym, and I think I'm going to start back up today. We risky af.

Libraries were one of the last things to reopen but one of the least risky. But I don’t think there’s anything there that surprising.

Went to Kroger this morning and there were signs that masks were mandatory, and almost everyone complied.

How big of a dickhead do you have to be to go into a store where everyone is wearing a mask except you.

My favorite are the people wearing masks that constantly touch them, adjust them, and pull them down to actually talk to people. You might as well not be wearing one. It's just another thing used to keep us proles fighting amongst ourselves.

Cincinnati announced a mask mandate last week, starting on the 9th. Why the huge delay? If they work, why let the "plague" continue to spread for a week until they are mandatory?

Pretty big, imo.
