Seems like the virus news has fallen to almost zero......nothing about ICU/hospital crowding.  Nothing about vaccines or theraputics.

You forgot about the "pillow guy" and Oleandrin.

Is this true that "cases" include contract tracing numbers?  Or is this just with nursing homes?

Not that "cases" mean anything, why we don't look at the serious infections only is beyond me, guess gotta keep the fear going

The testing numbers are massively flawed and basically useless as we have come to find out.  I know a guy who had covid and was tested multipile times during that time period; he had five positive tests, and he was counted as five cases.  One guy - five cases; how totally absurd.

All that matters is how many people died in the last seven months that truly died from covid.  If we take the 160,000 deaths among a population of 330 million we get a rate of 0.0004, or less than 1/2 of one-tenth of one percent.  And that assumes that all 160k actually died of covid, which we also now know is false, so you can cut the 160k in about half - 80k, which translates to 0.0002.

You can draw your own conclusions about what is really going on in response to the virus, but it is pretty obvious what has occurred and continues.

How could you possibly know he was counted as 5 cases?

What a strange little world you live in to think that the 170k death toll is actually only half of that and that is perfectly fine.

You sound like Gen. Turgidson from Dr. Strangelove:

"Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks."

Every study that I have seen so far that separated died WITH COVID vs died FROM COVID (right now, all numbers reported are anyone that dies that also has COVID).

Every study has shown that when you separated out dying with vs dying from, it drops the number by about 25%. Meaning 75% of the 160k died FROM COVID-19, and 25% died from something else, but happened to have COVID-19 upon their death.

These are actual scientific studies, not QO's "throw a number against the wall and see if anyone believes it".

So, the 160k is more like 120k of actual people who died from COVID-19.

Yeah, well, I know a guy who was positive for the virus 5 times and they only counted him once, so that WASHES OUT Quaker’s anecdotal story and makes things even in this life.

There is nothing anecdotal about it.  There are also people who tested positive that NEVER had the test.

It is a cluster, admit it.

And thanks jmog, for the 'closer' number of 120k.  But hey, its BIG government, what's a 25% fuck up, just a rounding error.

No one is happy that the communist Chinese virus has resulted in deaths, but you don't make it worse by destroying the economy and with it our where-with-all to combat this virus and others that will come in the future.  The radical left thinking we can make everyone 100% safe is lunacy.

If your reasoning for something is because you know someone that had an experience of what you’re arguing, that is the textbook definition of anecdotal

My terrible anecdotal reply is equally terrible to prove to you how dumb you sound. They’re both probably made up, too.

I didn't realize the virus was a member of a political party.  That makes it really novel.  I heard the Spanish flu was Social Democrat.  H1N1 was libertarian.

Well, with reports of individuals being counted 3 or 4 times, it's most likely Democrat.

How is the college testing working anyways? UD announced they had 12 new cases today. Do students have to be tested? Is it just available to them in case they feel ill or were exposed and want to be tested just in case?

Anyone see the argument that the world is starting to build up “t-cell immunity?”

I won’t act like I fully comprehend it, but the argument is (my interpretation) we have been exposed to previous novel viruses including covid, which has resulted in us developing t-cells to fight off the virus. It’s not full immunity, but it’s enough to make the symptoms mild or asymptomatic, which might be why countries are seeing an increase in cases, but the death rate and severe critical cases remain at a very low level.

From what I've seen, "science" on this has been absolute crap.  Per the usual, what has been reported as "science" is the much bigger issue.

What floors me about your statement is the fact that "t-cell immunity" was an unknown mystery until recently.  We had a good month+ of "antibodies don't last".  T-cells were never mentioned until a few weeks ago.  Didn't fit into the pandemic porn story.

I’m not sure but the TikToks coming out of college quarantines are great

By "meltdown", you mean "mocking him en masse for saying something stupid. again." don't you?

And, yes, I do realize that since this is CC, the fact I used "en masse" means this post is going to go about 500 miles over his head.

I haven't looked at convalescent plasma in detail, but it sounds to me a lot like hydroxychloroquine - mixed studies/results and no clear cut demonstrable positive effect.

I think that's why the FDA hadn't approved it.  Unless there's a new study that they've previewed ahead of publishing, expect Trump to grossly exaggerate the impact and possibly order emergency authorization despite unproven efficacy.
