I just looked it up and he's gay. According to Wiki he came out in 2015: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jussie_Smollett

I wouldn't want to give my phone either, but if you're really trying to prove that your story is accurate and  your phone proves it then why not?

What is is that pro-authority people are fans of saying?

"If you didn't do anything wrong, you've got nothing to hide."

That's why i am conflicted.  I hate when people say that type of shit (i.e. how every liberal handled Kavanaugh), but on the other end this guy is the one making all of these claims.  Doesn't some of the burden of proof fall on the person making the accusations?

I thought I saw an article this morning that police were basically confirming his story, and released photos of two possible suspects.  Supposedly they wore masks - makes me think he was targeted for some reason.  No idea why.

The article was on my news feed, so not sure where it came from.  But the above seems to be a bit of fake news, or at least it was written in a manner that seems to validate, rather than question, his account.

Completely different situations.  In this case, the guy's cell phone contains potential evidence.  He filed a police report, but is unwilling to turn his phone over.  Why would a cell phone be different than your house, or perhaps a video camera you had on you porch?  If there's probable cause to believe there's evidence on your phone, police should be able to get a search warrant just like they would for your house, car, etc...

The challenge with a phone is how to limit the scope of the investigation, since some people have literally their entire life on there.  But all of this would seem to be beside the point - if he had evidence, why can't his lawyer just turn over the relevant data/records without turning over the whole phone?

In Kavanaugh's case, people were demanding the guy waive his due process and rights against unreasonable search in order to disprove an accusation with no evidence and a story with facts refuted by others.

That's more/less of what my post was saying.

The police in no way confirmed his story. He still had his sandwhich after the so called “fight”. He’s a loser.

So I realized it was an article from Jezebel, which I got from my #@%@ Lifehacker feed.

And the article also said the attackers said "this is MAGA land"....later edited to remove it.  So basically the article made it appear as though his story had been validated, complete with the Trump/racism link.  That's Jezebel for you.

Can't believe that crap, along with Root and a few other left-wing versions of Breitbart they regularly post....I don't know how an otherwise quality tech new site pushes that garbage.

They're all owned by the same company (formerly Gawker, but that site was scrapped due to lawsuits and all the other sites were bought by Univision) and all cross-pollinate, where if you're on one site, you get articles from all of them. They've also gone very left-wing over the past few years. Where the family of sites has always been left-leaning, but they've gone pure Breitbart with how skewed they've become. And because they're mainly writing for a certain sort of blind partisan dipshit, those stories that push those buttons the hardest are the ones that get promoted the most, so you are regularly exposed to them regardless of which of the sites you're actually visiting. I used to read a lot of Deadspin, but it's gotten really bad. You wouldn't expect a sports site geared towards humor with the occasional bit of good investigative work to turn into a bunch of people in direct competition to see who can sound like the most pearl-clutchingest, bitterest malcontent out there fighting the good fight against the Pubs, but they've found a way to manage that. Which means that I can, uh, read a bunch of lefties doing a great impersonation of the same whining on this place's "DISGUSTED with progressives" threads. Real thrilling, that.

You're not doing the bolded justice.  Hulk Hogan brought the elbow drop to Gawker, which his legal team was funded by Peter Thiel, because deadspin outted him as gay. You're not wrong though.  Deadspin has gone to trash.  I stopped giving them clicks years ago.

Come to California for a week and the temperature is ten degrees below average and I believe they have received February's avg rainfall for the month in just the last 4 days!

Better weather back home in Ohia.

How is Cali doing with their drought?  Have they caught back up?  I pay zero attention.

Apparently, there are vegans who are seriously angry about this.

As such, these vegans are outraging me today.

I am surprised vegans watch football. I presumed they were all watching WE TV or at the ballet instead of watching the game

Today, all the talk of the state of the union.

The thing is an over bloated pomp and circumstance that needs to die.

I usually just read the text after the hour plus long speech and save myself over 45 minutes.

I wish Presidents would go old school and deliver the address in writing and save us all time.

I am going out on a limb here and calling you out that if this was a Dem president you wouldnt have posted that.  Just like all the other lefties, you dont want the Pub president standing up and telling everyone in this county how good its actually going.

Nope. I rarely watched Obama's either.

I used to watch back when I was growing up, Clinton, Bush, and I think Obama's 1st one. But, over the past maybe 7-8 years, I just read them now. I have other shit to do.

I'll read the speech. I don't mind the speech or content. The whole clapping that doubles the time is what is annoying as shit to me.

Are you going to watch the over hour speech?
