I know you're actually intellectually honest, and probably watched some of the videos.  What are you referencing to that makes stupid punks?

A whole group of kids wearing MAGA hats in a location where there are other protests and activists is the sort of thing you do if you're looking for a fight.  It was thoughtless.

Also, their story about their response to the agitating Philips sounded like a made-up story.

They were starting shit.  They're allowed, and the response has been unwarranted, but they were.

I have taken 100's of kids to DC.  Those kids werent looking for shit.  They were just hanging out waiting for buses like thousands of kids do every day.

BTW....funny how you can buy that in 1,000 places in DC.  If it represents such hatred....sure is a a lot people making money off it

Thanks for explaining, but hard disagree here.  For starters, their story has matched up with the videos.  As for the hat, are people not allowed to wear it now, because we have unhinged crybabies that can't handle it?  I see people wear actual "offensive" shit all of the time and get 0 reaction. I have been living in DC for almost 7 years, and in the touristy spots (where all these wacko activists are) you will have Trump supporters wearing their trump hats and other clothing on a daily basis.  A 3ish year sample size (counting his campaigning) of people wearing Trump shit at these locations is large enough for people to know there will be Trump gear at the touristy spots.  We don't see these stories on a daily basis for a reason. Even though the media wants everyone to hate each other, it is actually incredible (based on the low bar set by the media) how people of all different types can coexist in these areas.   Also have to factor in this was the same day as the March for Life, where they had plenty of Trump supporters.  Are they looking for a fight too?  Maybe you can point out to a bunch of teenage boys acting like frat stars to drown out the Israelites as "trying to start shit," but saying that is punk behavior is a wild stretch.

Edit: As CC has mentioned, there are plenty of vendors and stores in the touristy areas, where you can buy all types of trump gear.  I can't believe you all are making me agree with CC.

Now, if they started walking in non touristy neighborhoods with their Trump gear and chanting for attention, I would agree they would be trying to start shit.

this is probably the best most accurate synopsis i have come accross of what happened.  I don't agree with some of his ideas of people being punished or what not.  I don't think its that serious.  If people can yell at them they certainly can yell back. but his synopsis of what happened fits with what i saw for the most part.

How does Nancy Pelosi have the power to cancel a state of the union address?

Technically, she doesn't. She does have the power to block access to the House chamber, though.

Trump can do a few things...he can call the senate into session for a state of the union Address.  He can call both houses in and do it in the house chamber

It takes a passage of bills from both chambers to host the SOTU. The House will not take it up, so it would not be a joint session. Also, the Senate chamber is simply too small to accommodate both chambers, and it would cause a shitstorm between both chambers, which is why it was never an option.

Pelosi is the head of one chamber of Congress that is one co-equal branch to the President. She is using that power to her benefit, something that it seems Paul Ryan never did.

I like the story because it is a great snapshot at how fucked up Washington has become over this shutdown. Part of me wanted to see Trump try and give his SOTU during the shutdown and see how screwed up it would have been. The other part of me just says screw the modern tradition and for Trump to just go old school and give his remarks in writing like most Presidents did before the late 20th century.  But, Trump craves ratings and attention, so of course he backed out. He wants to be there in the House chamber.

My outrage today is just how stupid this all has become now. I kind of miss the old days of 2012-2013 shutdown.

Spock has the odd penchant for sometimes being correct when all indicators would normally prove him wrong. For example, he predicted Trump would be President.

I'm not sure if that is more of a condemnation of him or the people that will disagree with him at every level and on every topic no matter what.

Eh... at the end of the day, I suppose, there are worse things than agreeing with Spock on certain things.

You realize that was the point o-trap was making and I was countering it, right?  He made it seem that wearing Trump hats at the touristy spots in DC is looking for trouble.  If you live in DC, or been there several times, you would know this is not the case.  To answer your question, yes it does matter and you're smart enough to know that. It is no different than some schmuck wearing a Miami Heat Lebron jersey (when Lebron left the first time) at the Q when Miami isn't even in town.

You give me a break.  You don't need to go out of your way to be accepted as an impartial conservative.  Quit trying to convince yourself that you're going to be accepted. Many times the left are dead wrong, and this is one of those cases.

I have a 14 year old son.  Last year his class went on the standard 8th grade field trip to DC.  They all bought MAGA hats because they were dumb kids with pocket money and street vendors sell them on every corner for like $5.  There were several times where they had to congregate and wait for buses.

At one stop, they were confronted by a Hispanic lady who started telling at them about white privilege.  Thankfully their chaperones stepped in and controlled the situation.  Also, thankful that she was just your run off the mill crazy and not a crazy activist that was around with video cameras looking to start shit.

So in summary fuck Chief Stolen Valor.

The guy on YouTube that outs fake Seals has posted a video on him. In addition to not serving in Vietnam as implied, he's claimed to be a "recon ranger" which I don't believe is synonym for electrician, which was actually his job.

The part of their story that I don't believe isn't that they didn't start it.  That's accurate.  They didn't.  It sounds like the BHI folks were the instigators of the whole thing, which isn't surprising.  They're really belligerent.  I'm not a fan.

The part I don't buy, and it's only based on their reactions from the video I've seen, is that they thought Philips was joining in with them.  From the video, that looked like a pretty apparent (and more awkward than worrisome) standoff.  Engaging in a standoff in which they had numbers was "punkish," even if they weren't instigating (which everything seems to indicate is true -- they weren't).

As for the hats, it's more the orchestration of all of them coordinating their hats.  Anytime you coordinate, it's intentional.  I'm not saying they can't or shouldn't be allowed to.  It's not their responsibility to keep from offending, so long as they're not infringing on any rights, and wearing a hat certainly isn't infringing on anything, but because of how people perceive it, it will almost certainly incite a response if there are other political displays that aren't also Trump-supporting.

I suppose I can see where some of this might not have been intentional.  If that's the case, I'd still argue it was a lack of foresight and probably an unwise choice.  It's their right to make it, so I'm not speaking to what they can or cannot do, but what they probably should or shouldn't do if they genuinely wish to keep the peace outside the march they attended.

Yep.  And they're insatiable recruiters, always looking to pull stragglers in schools.

My church works with a local high school to do a class for young men to learn basic life skills (how to interview, how to tie a tie, how to change a tire, how to cook, etc), and the BHI are like vultures with those same kids.  Last year, I created a class outline on how to understand the BHI movement, just so these kids weren't unprepared the next time they were approached, but it's still a struggle.

This......these kids go on their trips and buy the hats.  Its vogue to do there.  Kids dont wear them there for the political statement.  They are kids.....mostly dumb and politically ignorant.

As for the activist adults that lurch around that city......like Supermans example, or the BHI or Chief drum beater......they on the other hand are calculated and malicious about it.  They are seeking out their 15 minutes of fame because they know that every day there are kids in those hats at these memorials.

So the blame squarely goes on them and not the hats or the kids.

Well. I don't think she is the 1st ever to wall off (good pun btw) the House chamber, but even so, it is her right to do that. She is part of a co-equal branch of Government.
