I am going out on a limb here and calling you out that if this was a Dem president you wouldnt have posted that.  Just like all the other lefties, you dont want the Pub president standing up and telling everyone in this county how good its actually going.

God you’re dumb

Nope. I rarely watched Obama's either.

I used to watch back when I was growing up, Clinton, Bush, and I think Obama's 1st one. But, over the past maybe 7-8 years, I just read them now.

I'll read the speech. I don't mind the speech or content. The whole clapping that doubles the time is what is annoying as shit to me.

Are you going to watch the over hour speech?

Sure......I love the partisan BS on both sides.  Its so stupid.

I am 100% with you. The last 5 years I have waited until the next day and watched the edited version on youtube that takes all the clapping/ovations out.

Today, all the talk of the state of the union.

The thing is an over bloated pomp and circumstance that needs to die.

I usually just read the text after the hour plus long speech and save myself over 45 minutes.

I wish Presidents would go old school and deliver the address in writing and save us all time.

Would you have said the same for Obama state of the union

Well, that explains 99% of your political posts more effectively than anything else.

I agree with you.  I don't watch these either.  The last one I watched it's entirety was Bush jr after 9/11.  The clapping on one side while the other sits morose is the stupidest thing ever.  It's our Congress' opportunity to pretend their chamber is lively like the UK parlimant.  But it is not and non of them are those types of players.  Instead they look like jackasses.   The whole thing has really turned into the "look who is clapping" show.  I don 't want to hear Trump's BS, I have no interested the democratic "response", I don't want to see the right wing or left wing extremists make faces, I don't want to see the Supreme Court judges forced to sit there and try not to look like they'd like to be anywhere else.  In modern times, we are now also treated to the close ups of the "special guests" sitting up in the balconey that are used to further reinforce the care and concern of the sitting president.

An obnoxious crap show that does absolutely nothing to help anything.  Was it good back the days before modern communication when there were not ways for the average citizen to get a current assessment on the country from the president easily?  Sure.  Those days are long, long gone.

Same here.  I don't think I've sat through one since maybe the first one after Lil Bush's re-election.  I either read them or catch an abridged video version on replay.  Just seems like a waste of time to sit through all the pomp.

I wasn't even aware she had the honor of delivering the response until you mentioned her name.  And no, I'm not a racist.   While there is no way to measure it, I am fairly certain that no one has ever been influenced or convinced by a "response" after of SOTU ever.  I see that streak staying alive in 2019.

If I can get myself to a point where I don't get eye strain from constantly rolling my eyes, I might have to do this, too.

Fucking taxes. We owe our shit-ass federal government $3,000 this year. So much for that tax cut.

I wish that's all I probably will owe. I have been quite naughty, having the audacity of owning acres. Not to mention the horrendous assessment hikes.

Looks like we're going to reduce our tax burden by depositing $3500 from savings into our HSA accounts. That will drop us from $3000 to $2000 owed.

Today's weather in Pine Tree California was rain, sun, snow, sun, 50, rain, snow, sun, snow, sun, sleet and then when we were finally done and ready to get inside.....the sun came out for good and the rest of the day was great.

I thought Ohia weather was nuts, this has been bi polar!

Paid off a credit card last week.  In full.   Down to $0.  This week they hit me with interest on purchases.  Yeah, I know... terms and conditions.  But I have a $0 balance.  GTFO with your added interest.

True story here...

About 20 years ago my aunt and uncle got themselves in bad financial situation with a ton of credit card debt. They went on the Dave Ramsey snowball/envelope program to get out of debt. A few years later when they paid off their last credit card in one payment (somewhere around $10,000) they got a bill the next month for $150. It was an "early pay off fee" that was, as you said, in the Ts and Cs (probably).

My uncle called up the company, explaining that he paid off his balance in full, already cut up the credit card, and will not be paying the $150. They went back and forth about how it would hurt his credit (his response was he didn't care, already owned his home and got rid of credit cards). They said they would take him to collections and eventually court to garnish his wages.

Now, my uncle at the time worked for a lawyer (my uncle restored antiques which was a side business for this lawyer). He told the card company "ok, you take me to court, and by the time you get there you have paid your lawyers close to $1000 to recover $150. On the day of the hearing I will hand you a $150 check and the judge will send us all home. So, is $150 worth $1000 to you?"

They said "sir, you can't do that?" He said "I already talked to my lawyer and I definitely can do that."

They said "sir, we will wave that fee."

It’s interest for the days in the month that you had a balance (not including current purchases). Pretty standard procedure.
