The Freedom Convoy US version has not gone well. Started in LA, was supposed to grow to thousands of rigs.  By the time it arrived in Las Vegas, only five trucks remain.

So I learned something today...Remember when Trump was going to make everyone "pay their fair share" in NATO?  Actually, those commitments were made in 2014.  And it took the Russia invasion to get Germany to finally kick in.

Sigh. Yeah. National Security experts have been saying that for years.

Gates and Panetta were really trying to get NATO to up their numbers and only took the invasion of Crimean to do it.

I guess Jim Crow 2.0 was not working.  Now its Zelensky trying to stand up to the evil Putin.  Just ask Stacy Abrams.  Can those rascally republicans get any worse.

https://consumerenergyalliance.org/2022/03/ohio-families-businesses-will-pay-over-2-7-billion-more-each-year-gasoline-diesel-line-5-shuts-down-consumer-group-warns/

COLUMBUS, OH – Shutting down the Line 5 pipeline, the reckless proposal pursued by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, would force families, businesses and industries in Ohio to pay more than $2.7 billion more for transportation fuel every year, according to an independent third-party analysis commissioned by Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA).

Weinstein, Clower and Associates examined the impacts that a Line 5 closure would have on the region and found that shutting down this critical infrastructure would have a devastating impact on the supply of transportation fuels in regional markets, and hurt petrochemical refiners that rely on the pipeline to safely and efficiently deliver feedstock. Such a supply shock would create significantly higher gasoline and diesel prices for Ohio families and businesses, who will spend at least $2.7 billion more every year on transportation fuels, or $13.6 billion more over five years.

The study also found that families and businesses across the Midwest will spend at least $29.2 billion more for gasoline and diesel over the following five years due to the resulting loss of production at area refineries.

The report dovetails with previous findings that closing Line 5 would cause at least $20.8 billion in economic losses to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania.

Nice to see Jussie Smollet get jail time.  He'll probably only serve 75 days, but suffice to say he seemed pretty devastated by it.

I'm sure he and his team were 100% convinced even if he lost, it would just be probation.  So they rolled the dice on the professional actor lying his ass off trying to salvage his image and job prospects.

Just fantastic all the way around that the prosecutor, jury and judge got it right.

Sentence got a stay after appeal. Hopefully, the courts keep the sentence. But, it's Illinois, so who knows.

He wont go back.  I think crimes like this should have a "buy out".  He is already paying the $150,000 but maybe throw $3 million on it as a way to "buy" your jail time.  Then he has house arrest and community service.

Haha.  Not sure what is typical, but seems pretty reasonable for a non-violent offender with a short sentence.  Just look at the bright side - more money in legal fees for what SHOULD be a failed appeal.

Laughed at his giving up FOOD for Lent.  I imagine after 3-4 weeks he'd have been in rough shape, and probably trying to work some angle.  Guy doesn't appear to be mentally stable.

Ohio legislature will be proceeding with impeachment proceedings of chief justice, and turncoat, Maureen O'Connor over her blatant disregard of the constitution in her radical pursuit of the Eric Holder Act Blue agenda.  She has shown her true colors in siding with the other 3 leftists on the bench to force THEIR version of redistricting which is outside their authority.  The Ohio House and Senate have had enough of her and the attempted Holder/Act Blue takeover of the state of Ohio.

Shocking I say that you would say that. It is not outside their authority. What you think Republicans can just pass whatever map they want even if it contradicts what the Comission and the state voters decided when they voted to set up the Comission?

Ohio is a great test case on why elected officials should not be allowed to draw their own districts.

Court has been pretty clear what they want and the Republicans are ignoring it.

The whole process has been a mess.

Why so fucking hard other than politics? Start at one corner of the state and head toward the opposite one and draw a line when you reach the correct number of people. Rinse and repeat.

Agreed. Break it down by counties and common neighbors.  But, nope, the Republicans are pretty damn determined to keep their super majority.

The Republican map with Hamilton County is really bad.

I think it is pretty simple. No politician should be involved in the map making process. Only the final approval.

I'll also state Maryland is just as bad on the Democratic side and totally eliminated their one Republican district.
