Bloomberg News (5/8, Chandra) reports that the Labor Department announced on Tuesday that “US job openings surged to a record in March, putting vacancies roughly on par with the number of unemployed workers.” The report is part of a series of data releases from the department showing that “demand for workers remains solid.” Bloomberg adds that “in the 12 months through March, the economy created a net 2.3 million jobs.” The Washington Post (5/8, Bump) reports that the new data “suggest that, for the first time, there’s about a 1-to-1 match between jobs and job-seekers.”

Not sure how a healthy job market and tax cuts translate into a "blue wave" ............  LOL

I'm saying either the law lacks real teeth, or it's intended for something far more egregious.  2 indictments and 0 convinctions in over TWO HUNDRED years speaks for itself, no?

It's my premise that the Logan Act, federal marijuana laws and illegal immigration laws don't lack "teeth" as much as we lack people wiling to enforce these laws.

2 indictments, 0 convictions in over 200 years....not even in the same universe as the other two you mentioned.

No one ever heard of the Logan Act before the "resistance movement" needed to drumph-up some charges on Flynn.

"U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have apprehended an additional 1,600 people attempting to illegally enter the country from Mexico as a result of the deployment of National Guard troops to the southwest border, CBP and defense officials said Wednesday.

National Guard officials overseeing the border state deployments said troops helping monitor the international boundary have freed up more border agents to physically guard the border. The result has led to a surge in the amount of criminal activity agents have stopped."

Build the wall and we can do an even better job, and redeploy our resources elsewhere, or simply cut the budget.

Thank you for answering my question regarding that.  I hope someone can answer the others I asked too.

Iran is a bad actor

You have to laugh at this new politically acceptable term.  Romney was mocked in 2012 for calling Russia our greatest geopolitical foe and Iran our greatest national security threat.

As long as the Israelis feel safe...that’s all that matters.......

I think the saudis would like to feel safe as well.  Both nations have failed states on their borders that the Iranians have placed their missile batteries on.  But those darn jews.

You know, it's interesting. I see/hear so many people on the "left" that have a deeply ingrained bias against Israel. If you ask them what are their reasons for being anti-Israel it's usually something like "look at they kill Palestinian children!". I've even been told directly that it was because Israel is too eagerly defensive. Think about that. "eagerly defensive"

I think there is plenty of blame of both sides to be passed around. But maybe I'm looking at this all wrong? Maybe Israel should not defend itself?

I just talked to an ex coworker who lives in Israel on Tuesday on Skype. I've X'd out her name but otherwise is a direct c/p:

2:51pm xxxx: And authorities requested municipalities in the north to open their bomb shelters, guess it is going to once again that kind of summer

Imagine for a moment living like that and it being routine. If you are somebody who feels sympathy for Palestine, then you must also feel sympathy for Israel. Unfortunately, it's not mainstream to people on the left to look at both sides with the same critical or sympathetic eye. At this point, I'm of the opinion that it's a reactive compulsion.

The bigger question is, why do so many Jewish people continue to vote Democrat despite the clear & growing anti-Israel sentiment on the left?  Very puzzling the Dems would carve out such a seemingly unnecessary and unproductive stance, but more puzzling that it's working.

... and in return China will do away with the tariffs imposed on US agricultural products. Sound like a pretty good deal.

And apparently the tariffs were enough to throw any cyber security concerns about ZTE right out the window, too.

From David Gomez, a former FBI counterterrorism agent and cybersecurity strategist: "Wow. I rarely comment on POTUS tweets but this one deserves a response. Telecommunications companies like ZTE use their devices and networks to compile intelligence on behalf of the Chinese govt. That is just a fact."

Nada Bakos, former CIA analyst and fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, said Trump seemed to want to "trade on" national security: "You cannot trade on national security. Promoting jobs in China for a telecom company that is known to be beholden to the Chinese govt, puts US citizens and sensitive info at risk. There is no reward for the USG, national security can't be used as leverage."

And Josh Campbell, former FBI special agent, didn't mince words: "We don't need to just pump the brakes, we need to throw the car in reverse and immediately retreat from this ludicrous idea that we are going to enable a counterintelligence threat like ZTE. We should not be making life easier for hostile intelligence services."

It's possible you have but unfortunately you're unable to grasp the broader view.  Suppose that's why you're a good bar maid.

Curious why you think I work at a bar? Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

My bad, thought ya said you did.  Just my belief, anyone who's willing to work at bars and deal with drunk people can't be too opinionated.

IMO- a cell phone company partially owned by it's government could be a security threat.

Of course, I think the government can manipulate the weather, so what the eff' do I know.....?

When GM was partially owned by the US government, did you fill your pants, freak out and think that it programmed some cars to spy on US citizens?

How do you feel about a government with a massive data center that records all phone conversations and internet traffic. You know, just in case...

I choose to live here and have no problem with it.  China spying, on the other hand...

Imagine that.....I'm sure it was only about the tariffs, right Con?

No, because that's stupid.
