Agreed... 30 to 35 kids use to be extremely small number wise in the wcal. Now it seems like that's the average roster size of most schools.Havin Fun;1490235 wrote:Who is successful shouldn't matter? The only thing I can think of is that could football being losing its appeal? I mean most schools are seeing the lowest numbers for football ever. -

Orrville is also seeing some of its lowest participation numbers ever in football. We have 44 kids out total in all 4 grades. No freshman team and we have barely enough for an 8th grade team. Football is too tough for kids these days I guess.Buckeyefan34;1490268 wrote:Agreed... 30 to 35 kids use to be extremely small number wise in the wcal. Old RiderRead Jaco's post on the Red Rider Football thread (pg. 36). It pretty much sums things...and I couldn't agree more.

Havin FunAnyone going to watch the Bears play at Indian Valley tonight? This will be a great indicator how the team may be this year. IV is expected to make their 3rd trip to the playoffs with this class of seniors. Hope the bears can hang with them and give us some hope for the season! Updated please if you go. Thx
-
Dr. KnOiTaLLStill trying to decide what I'm going to do tonight. Weather kind of looks questionable right now. No one likes standing in the rain!
-
bobcat14Norwayne should get a pretty good test tonight against Loudonville.
-
1486wdDalton has triway tonight. Was planning on going, but can't now. Haven't heard a health update on the bulldogs, hopefully someone can let us know that makes it tonight. Gerbers chicken tonight at the stadium too. Bummed I have to miss it

bobcat14so just heard a rumor that another one of Norwayne's starting OLinemen went down, is that true? Wont be able to make it to the scrimage tonight to see if they have the depth on the line to overcome 2 linemen out. Not a good start for my Bobcats! Has anybody else got word about this if so who was it and what is the word on the other lineman down(Scruggs?). Seems like alot of injuries to start the season for some WCAL teams. Lack of offseason conditioning?
-
Dr. KnOiTaLL
I doubt that it's a result of a lack in off-season conditioning. Sometimes injuries just happen. All you can do is do the best with you can to fill the void left until they return. It's the nature of the game at any level.bobcat14;1490508 wrote:so just heard a rumor that another one of Norwayne's starting OLinemen went down, is that true? TeeGreenNorwayne's starters beat Loudonville tonight 21-7. It is obvious after this scrimmage tonight that Norwayne has three pass offense playmakers, namely Dreher, Beery and Harris. The run game is not there for Norwayne, since there is not much run blocking going on and the backs are not showing much quickness or power, as compared to last year. The defense seems to bend a lot. They do no appear to have any playmakers on defense. If they are going to win consistently this year, they are going to have to our score their opponents since they will probably give up a lot of points. Norwayne scored tonight on three long pass plays, one to Beery where he made a heck of a run after the catch for about 40 yards, and two to Harris the first one for 90 yards.

I thought Norwayne looked good against a very good Loudenville team. The running game will be there. I think we had 4 runs in the first quarter. I though Trent Davis looked good catching the ball. As far as the defends they made some good adjustments to shut the birds down. -

I agree that overall, Norwayne looked pretty good. But, to play with the likes of Coldwater, or Liberty Benton, or Ottawa-Glandorf, etc. in the playoffs, the running game and defense are going to have to step it up, not to mention CVCA and Northwestern in the regular season. -
pdracerRittman looked good against Conotton Valley tonight. Looks like Dennis is going to spread the love a little tonight. Scored each time they touched the ball and had 4 different kids take it in. 34-7 when they took all the starters out and started playing JV and freshman.
Blake Dennis still appeared to be getting the ball more that the others, but he was making positive yards after the catch and wasn't looking to run out every time he touched the ball. Line is looking better Vaughn and McGuire had some great runs including a 79 yard sprint by Vaughn for a TD on the 5th drive of the game. Kid has speed!
Miller also took one in and seems to be picking up where he left off last year.
Guess we'll see how things go next week when they play a real game. -
K-DOG86C'mon man.....Conotton Valley....REALLY??? Dennis should have scheduled them for the regular season! This could have been dubbed as "The Toilet Bowl" Heck, maybe could have put them on schedule for all 3 non-league games, and maybe got 2 out of 3 games!
-
Havin FunCurious if Rittman is going to play the home schoolers again this year? CV is truly the worst football program in the state of Ohio many years running. I doubt this game means anything. I do think Rittman will win a few games. Especially if Dennis got some non league games like CV.
-
oh yeah!!loudonville will make the playoffs this year and will do some serious damage. the qb and rb are good and they are beefy upfront. overall was a good game and it seemed as though loudonville was staking the box a bit to much (maybe thats why all the big pass plays idk?) the cats started out slow as well. anxious to hear about the rest of the league and how they fared.

RobBamseyJust came out of my coma!!!! Talked to Urban F(in) Meyer Nick Saban and Les Miles at the Rittman/CV scrimmage last night!!! Star struck!!! Who were they scouting???

ChippsfanOk so yes Chippewa has not been good for some time but there is a glimpse of hope in the program. The new coach is from Waterloo and has a bunch of talent to work with. This year they have a much easier non league schedule and don't be surprised to see them win at least their first two games. They do not have much size but they make up for it with their athleticism. Many of you probably did not get to see the quarter back last year but he was only a freshman and many of there key players were only sophomores last year the line is also very experienced now and they are only starting 5 seniors between offense and defense. I am not saying they are going to win 8 or 9 games but if teams come in with the it's just Chippewa attitude they are going to regret it. I think they are looking at 6 wins this year to be realistic.
-
1486wdThe chipps did show a glimmer late last season, but they are still going to have to prove it. When is the last time they were above .500?
-
ChippsfanI believe it was 2008. The new offense they a running gets there athletes the ball and is much better than the pro style offense that they have been running for the past 8 years. Even though there scrimmage was against a not so good sandy valley team they dominated not allowing them to get over the 50 and scoring on them 5 times. They only ran about 7 different plays out of two different formations so I can only imagine wat they would have done if they opened up the play book.
-
Havin FunThe Chipp QB is an exciting player. The entire league is pulling for them to return to being competitive.

Chippewa could be the most improved team in the league this year. I hope it happens.Chippsfan;1491330 wrote:Ok so yes Chippewa has not been good for some time but there is a glimpse of hope in the program.
