WCALfootballfanWell it sounds like Old Rider has ties to Mr. Dorksen. Maybe you can give us some insight into how he's going to handle this. Will it be in his normal Sunday recap? How's he going to sugar coat it?

Guess you'll have to read it & find out like the rest of us.WCALfootballfan;1579605 wrote:Well it sounds like Old Rider has ties to Mr. Dorksen. Maybe you can give us some insight into how he's going to handle this. Will it be in his normal Sunday recap? How's he going to sugar coat it?
Grapevine > OhioChatter -
rrfanMr. Dorksen really should have done this by now IMO. When you are wrong and did not do your homework you have to own up to it. Now it is just to late.

The only ties I have to Mr. Dorksen is the .50 cents his company gets from me daily and the $1.50 I pay them on Sunday.WCALfootballfan;1579605 wrote:Well it sounds like Old Rider has ties to Mr. Dorksen. As far as the article...RR1 said it best. Pick up a paper and find out. -

Since you know that Mr. Dorksen is going to address this in Sundays paper and it doesn't appear that he has announced it in any other way, we're gonna have to call Bull&*&% on this one. It appears that you are acting as his Liaison to the "Ohio Chatter" crew. So what else do you know?Old Rider;1579682 wrote:The only ties I have to Mr. Dorksen is the .50 cents his company gets from me daily and the $1.50 I pay them on Sunday. -

Maybe he did do his homework? Maybe he is not wrong? Maybe the matter is more complicated than a simple answer like he did or did not sign. Wait until Sunday before you act tough over the internet.rrfan;1579676 wrote:Mr. Dorksen really should have done this by now IMO. Once again I am reminded why I don't visit or comment much on this site. I'll stick with the Grapevine... It is much more reliable and has fewer morons than OC. -

casualobserverI’m new to the site and probably won’t post on here often. I’ve been watching this debate about the young man from Orrville (formerly Rittman) and I thought I tried to give some insight into college recruiting. I’ve been very close to it for several years. Most people, unless they’ve gone through it in some way, don’t really know much about it. This Dennis thing has peaked my interest. Let me first dispel a couple beliefs
#1 - D3 schools do not give football scholarships. I don’t care what you hear, they
Don’t. When you hear “Johnny got a scholarship to play at Mount Union”…no he didn’t. He may have gotten an academic scholarship but he didn’t get one for football
#2 - Most D2 scholarships are partial scholarships and most aren’t very big. It is very rare that a D2 school would give a kid a “Full Ride”. They just don’t have the financial resources. When you see The Daily Record put an article in the paper about Johnny signing with Ashland he has but the odds are he’s still paying quite a bit to go there. The D2 schools try to offset cost by giving as much academic money as they can. That’s why grades are so important in D2. Unless you are a hardship case or very intelligent (grades) you are paying to play.
That brings us to D1 football. What a game D1 football is. I’m not talking about the actual game; I’m talking about the recruiting end. D1 football teams have 85 scholarships to give. They will have another 20 roster spots available. Many of them are for preferred walk-ons. Preferred walk-ons are players that they recruited but did not give a scholarship for one reason or another. Teams will leave a few walk-on spot for guys that will actually try-out but those spots are rare.
**Preferred walk-ons and walk-ons are not required to sign anything that ties them to the team they are playing for. They can leave any time and can accept a scholarship from another team any time.
**Scholarship players (including grey shirts) are required to sign a Letter Of Intent when they agree to accept a scholarship and play for their school. Outside of their scholarship there is nothing else they have to sign.
This brings us to young Dennis. Unless he has signed a LOI he is not going on scholarship at Akron. Unless he has signed a LOI they have no binding commitment to him and he has none to them. I’m not sure what we’ll read in The Daily Record on Sunday but without a LOI it’s all just smoke. If he claims to have made a commitment or claims to have signed any paperwork about committing my guess his dad made the document up on Microsoft Word. NO SUCH PAPERWORK EXISTS! -

This is a very interesting first post. Are you certain that there is no other paperwork that can (or needs to be) be signed if you're going to grey shirt?casualobserver;1580795 wrote:**Scholarship players (including grey shirts) are required to sign a Letter Of Intent when they agree to accept a scholarship and play for their school. So basically you are saying anything he claims to have signed besides an LOI can not be true or basically means nothing?
