Orrville Red Rider Football 2012

Old Rider
I'm sure there is more to it as for the reason why he doesn't go to Orrville. I don't know the family at all, but my guess is that he attends Smithville because the parents either like the Smithville school district better or maybe they don't care for the demographics of Orrville schools??Red Rider Nation;1298611 wrote:Hey Orrville fans there is a kid living in your own town that you are letting play for Smithville. This kid has as much talent as I have ever seen out of a youngster. He went to Orrville tonight as a Smithie and put up some great numbers as the Smithville Quarterback and help beat Orrville 44-20 for his freshman team. His name is Noah Schonover. He is the real deal and is just waiting for Coach Davault to show some interest to come to Orrville. Its not like he lives in Smithville he lives in Orrville and is wanting to get a chance to be the Orrville QB! Tonight he had 175 yards rushing and 115 yards passing. He had two rushing TD's and one of those was 70 yards, two passing TD's, three 2 point conversion throws and an 80 yard kickoff return totaling almost 400 yds of total offense. This kid is ready to play at the next level NOW! He is #10 for Smithville and would look great in the Orrville uniform. Someone get coach on the phone and come and get this kid to play in the town he lives in!!!
I also know that the Smithville freshman are a talented group from what I have been told and if he is as good as you state, then he will be on a short leash with Coach Besancon. -
RedRider1Beat the Colts!! Go Riders!

Coach_08^^ Agreed Old Rider, I know this is an Orrville thread but since the Smithville kid was brought up, here is my 2 cents. From reading a lot of comments on here and talking to some Orrville people, my understanding is that the Orrville program as far as talent, from 7th grade up to at least the 10th grade is down. As far as Smithville, from a very reliable source, is that their 7th grade up thru their freshmen teams have a good deal of talent. I understand as well a totally different league, the WCL is not even close to the OCC. So I guess if the kid wants to play for Smithville because maybe he feels when he gets up to his varsity years he wants to win and make the playoffs? (Please understand I am just guessing their). Also I understand Orrville would like to get out of the OCC, but if they do not it could be some tough years ahead. Not saying that as the Orrville kids continue to go up thru the program they will not get better, I am sure they will and I hope they do. But also maybe the Smithville kid thinks if he would decide to go to Orrville he would get noticed by a bigger college? So in closing it is up to the kid and the parents where he will end up in the end. Back to Orrville I hope they get 2 big wins to close out the season, good luck to the players and coaches tonight, bring home a W!

That's what it sounds like to me. It shocks me, though, that a kid living in Orrville would choose to go to Smithville to play football.redright21;1298614 wrote:Are you saying coach D should recruit him? -
Red Rider NationIMO this kid will not play 4 years for Smithville. He is far too talented. If he is as good as I have heard he is he will end up somewhere like St. V, Hoban, or maybe even Massillon. Its all been done before. Is it recruting? Not even close. This day in age with open enrollment its hard to say recruit. All I am saying is that I have heard this kid is good and lives in Orrville! I do agree if he wants to come here then he should. Case closed!

rrfanGood luck to the kid! Who cares? He is not here so that is that.
Lets win tonight Riders! -
CCRollyGood luck tonight Riders. Until the game ends, then I hope you have the worst week of practice you've had all year!

Interesting you say letting him play at smithville, last I knew with open enrollment it would be the student and their parents choice.Red Rider Nation;1298611 wrote:Hey Orrville fans there is a kid living in your own town that you are letting play for Smithville. If I had a dollar for every kid called the "real deal" I would have retired by now.
If he is ready, why isn't he playing varsity for Smithville.
(I am not saying the kid is not good, I really don't know, just laugh at comments like that when they are made about young players)
My two cents, records for teams in their 7th, 8th, and freshman year usually do not correlate with varsity. Single class teams are just that, varsity is where you blend those classes and many times have a totally different outcome. Clearfork junior class were very tough their 7th and 8th grade year winning the OCC both years I believe, but it doesn't seem to have correlated with their varsity outcomes this year.Coach_08;1298940 wrote:^^ Agreed Old Rider, I know this is an Orrville thread but since the Smithville kid was brought up, here is my 2 cents. I also wanted to say I am disappointed by all the grim reapers around here. Orville has one bad year and most are calling for the coach, talking how down the whole program is, talking about leaving the conference. I think you guys are better than that. One season does not define a program or a tradition. As far as th OCC, I hope Orville stays, but if not, find a league West Holmes can go with you to. -

Hey guy can you at least spell Orrville with 2 R's? What are you Fox 8 News? -
RedRider1Well said greatwhite..
We know that 1 season doesn't define a program or a tradition...it's just that some want to paint it that way..for reasons that have or haven't been shared.
1 losing season since 2002. Can any other team around here say they've had 1 losing season in the last 11 years? That alone settles things. -
Greatwhite
My apologies to the rider faithful, I really do know how to spell it, my fingers just got ahead of my brain.Red Rider Nation;1299061 wrote:Hey guy can you at least spell Orrville with 2 R's? What are you Fox 8 News?
I thought maybe you were Fox 8 news with the scouting reporting. -
OQBIt's refreshing getting an outsiders take on things.....

GreatwhiteI don't often post on another team's thread (of course I have to because there is never a west holmes thread), but I think sometimes the doubters tend to drag down the morale a little. I think if you had input from outside the Orrville community, you would hear a lot different. While most of us might be enjoying this down year for Orrville we also realize what it is, just a blip on the radar. Good luck in your last two games.

I've seen Massillon's teams (7th thru freshman) play this year, and I'm pretty sure there are no WCAL kids who would crack that line up. Apples and oranges. I think it's a quantum leap from the WCAL to OCC, yet alone playing for the big boys to the east! -
rrfangreatwhite thank you for your posts. Please note that there are only a few on here that are calling go a coaching change...but all hate loosing.

RRN tried outing him after the Copley game & I informed him he was mistaken...not because I know who 555 is, but who he isn't.
Again...ask RRN about that assumption. If he's honest with you, he'll tell you be was wrong.
Truth. With cards face up on the table...it's the only way to live life friend.

OK but have you seen this kid? Just sayin....... Dont compare until you do! Also its not as quantum leap as you are referring too. If Norwayne would play in the OCC they would win that conference too. Let me guess they are the exception to your rule right?jaco;1299089 wrote:I've seen Massillon's teams (7th thru freshman) play this year, and I'm pretty sure there are no WCAL kids who would crack that line up. We hope its a small blip and not a KATRINA! AHHHH...I dont doubt Norwayne could hang around with others in the OCC, but not Senior and West Holmes...no way. Lets remember that Norwayne is just in one of those periods where some really good classes have come through at the same time. I think their program is getting better and their coach is getting it done, but we will see how long that lasts. They are riding a wave right now and it will hit shore soon!Red Rider Nation;1299152 wrote:OK but have you seen this kid? Just sayin....... Dont compare until you do! Why do you continue to beat to the "3 guys want coach out drum?" THis is getting old! It may be 3 guys on here but many more sitting in your stands. Well at least it was when I was going to the games earlier in the year. Funny how 20 people from Orrville post on this website and in most of your minds that accounts for the 10,000 that live in Orrville and dont know this site exists. I could care less who coaches this team all I expect as I said a few weeks back is for players to be better in Week 10 then in Week 1. Some from my understading are and others well lets just change the subject! I will beat this drum to you....Great coaches get the best out of what they have period! PERIOD! -

I agree with most things you say but I couldnt disagree more. Norwayne is a machine right now that has started a long winning tradition. They have kids over there at the youth level that just cant wait to get to high school and play the game. Numbers are up there and you will continue to see that trend. That program is here to stay and with a young eager coach that wants to get better and better! They are arguably better this year then last. Does that mean they win another title? no but they give themselves a great shot! -
Old Rider
I agree...but kids have to be willing to do their part as well. Meaning...they must work hard in the off-season and during the season. Some are and some aren't. The ones that are not, are the ones the WE NEED to get into the weightroom and summer position camp workouts so that they know what their doing in week one rather than still learning in week 5!Red Rider Nation;1299156 wrote:Why do you continue to beat to the "3 guys want coach out drum?" I know I am beating a dead horse in saying this, but kids are different. Not many are willing to put in that extra work it takes to go from average to good and from good to great! Coach D gives these kids all the opportunities in the world, but it is ultimately up to the kids to decide whether they want to be real good or just settle for mediocre.
Look at the facilities we have here in Orrville...how does that not motivate a kid??? Blows my mind! Talk to any former player and ask them if they would have loved to have had the facilities and resources these kids have at their fingertips now... -
Old Rider
I agree. They are a machine..."right now". Like I said they are riding a wave...and I also think (my opinion) that if they have another good run..some bigger high school will come with a baited hook and Coach Harbour will bite!Red Rider Nation;1299158 wrote:I agree with most things you say but I couldnt disagree more.
