wcalfanits parenting,,,ask ummm..
You are darn right beast...ask ME and I will tell you EVERY time...it starts in the HOME...coaches can't babysit these kids 24 hours a day. Where in the world are the parents?!?!?!? -

Parenting my ass, once they put that uniform on and step on the field it's the coaches job to instill discipline . They represent the school as well as the community on that field. These type of penalties have been a problem since Devault took over.1_beast;1299336 wrote:hateful old man

I know every time I got punished as a kid it was football related !!!Get real people, behavior at home and personal fouls on a football field are two different areas. On that field the coach is the parent !wcalfan;1299413 wrote:its parenting,,,ask ummm..

We can only dream that we could someday have a staff like that here. I bet Norwayne doesn't comment have the penalties we do. It starts with COACHING !!!!Red Rider Nation;1299272 wrote:Troll I have to tell you i went to the Norwayne game tonight and although we agree most of the time I have to disagree that this team is not as good as last year. Well coached, no helmets off the entire game, execute on a good gameplan and hardly any penalties. Nice for a change!!! -

Are you serious with that post? Come on. Again, some of you make this too easy. Are you telling me that the kids getting personal fouls on the football field are "model" citizens off the field? You will NEVER win that argument with me.Troll King;1299419 wrote:I know every time I got punished as a kid it was football related !!!Get real people, behavior at home and personal fouls on a football field are two different areas. Now, the only issue I would have is that if those kids getting personal fouls are still able to be on the field after they get penalized, then that is not good!
You are right about one thing, the coach is the parent BUT unfortunately it isn't just on the field...any more it has to be ALL THE TIME!!! -
Troll KingOk defenders of Doug, let's here it. I'm sure you all seen a different game than I did.

And they existed before too. Kids are clearly playing frustrated and if we're taking cheap shots, that's unacceptable. The late hit on Summers out of bounds could have went either..don't know about the others.
Troll, 1 losing season in 7 years & you're ready to make a change? That's an awful short leash. Not too many coaches would survive in that environment. -

Troll, I will tell you this...they may not have as many penalties now but they sure as heck did early in Harbour's coaching at Norwayne.Troll King;1299421 wrote:We can only dream that we could someday have a staff like that here. Yes the players do go right back out on the field , there not even taken out ! Also some of those kids that get those penalties do come from great homes with discipline. The problem is that know they can get away with it on that field under that coach.wcalfan;1299423 wrote:Are you serious with that post? Come on. Again, some of you make this too easy. No doubt! I am sure nothing was said to any of the kids that got called for the penalties and you are right it has been a BIG problem since he took over. I cant bring myself to any more games as supporting the team is one thing but behavior like this is inexcusable! I am done with this program until he is gone so it may be a while but after a couple more losing seasons the rest of these people will come around. They are running out of ways to defend him. You said it if we have no talent coming up and he has clearly proven he cannot improve upon what he has then what would we be waiting for??? The lack of discipline has been apparent for a long time under this guy. RTR? Its a matter of time before one of these senseless acts on the field seriously injure a kid permanently and there is absolutely NO excuse for it!!!Troll King;1299409 wrote:This has been an ongoing issue since Devault took over. There is no excuse for them and unfortunately as long as he is coach they will continue. Just an absolute embarrassment last night. They hit a new low last night , I'm sorry but this coach has to go . Now that there is no more D1 talent and none on the way this is what we have to look forward too. -

And how long has he been there. I bet not as long as Devault has been here. It sure didn't take harbour long to fix it. What's Devault's excuse ? oh wait I know all those horrible brats he gets stuck with every season.wcalfan;1299426 wrote:Troll, I will tell you this...they may not have as many penalties now but they sure as heck did early in Harbour's coaching at Norwayne. -

If you are speaking the truth...then maybe there is a problem. I would hope though that those good kids are getting their butts yelled at by their parents when they get home after acting like that on the field.Troll King;1299427 wrote:Yes the players do go right back out on the field , there not even taken out ! Well said... If someone does get seriously injured I wonder if that would get the player yanked from game ? It's crazy that something like that even crosses my mind but this coach provokes those thoughts in me.Red Rider Nation;1299429 wrote:No doubt! Exactly! As the coach you set the precedent. Play on my team, play disciplined, play the game clean and with class or get the HELL off my team and I dont give a rat's whatever who your parents are! He clearly doesnt do this!!! -

I dont think Troll is referring as much to the wins and losses and neither am I. Where is the discipline??? Week after week after week we see this nonsense out on the field and nobody is accountable for it. Someone needs to hold him accountable then and I am sure it isnt the booster club! -

You're the biggest doug defender of all. Can't you see this guy cannot coach unless he's loaded with D1 talent. When Mac was coach you never seen the amount of personal fouls occur that goes on under Devault, not even close ! With no more D1 talent looming on the horizon sing the same praise of Devault three years from now, After three more losing seasons And a lot more personal foul unsportsmanlike penalties.RedRider1;1299425 wrote:And they existed before too. Troll KingRed Rider Nation is correct I'm not talking about wins and losses. I'm tired of seeing a team play in week 9
And look just as bad as they did in week 1. The same nonsense penalties and poor execution that they should've gotten over with a long time ago. There is never improvement in commonsense fundamental football. We have gotten by on great athletes in the past, now we have to rely on coaching and we see the results of that every week. You're correct Red Rider Nation no one holds this coach accountable. -

Not so sure about that, if my kid was behaving that way on the field and the coach wasn't taking care of it, I would.Troll King;1299427 wrote:Yes the players do go right back out on the field , there not even taken out ! He couldnt coach even with D1 talent. If Genoa didnt beat Clear Fork 2 years ago we would have gotten rolled by them again. Hell they beat us 33-0 on our own field what would they have done on a neutral field. Also there are plenty of kids in the past that have come from broken homes and were very successful on and off the field so that argument to me is absolutely laughable! This program right now is the furthest thing from RTR so using those 3 letters in the same sentence as Orrville football is just disrespectful to all that played this game before the current ones. -

Read again, I said they know they can get away with it on the FIELD wasn't implying at home.Greatwhite;1299445 wrote:Not so sure about that, if my kid was behaving that way on the field and the coach wasn't taking care of it, I would. -
RedRider1Penalties weren't that big of an issue until week 6. The last few weeks its been different.
I'm not seeing blatant cheap shots, but when a ref throws a flag for a PF during a play, that's concerning. Typically those penalties happen after a play. So either someone threw a punch or something similar. I would like to see a kid who gets a PF to sit out a play & have a conversation with the coach before going back in. That would at least serve notice that the behavior is unacceptable.
100 yards of penalties...that's a fields worth. The game decided by a TD. We moved the ball a little better, but this team doesn't have a play for 2nd and 25...we dig our own holes when we can least afford it.
And FYI..it's not the Booster Clubs job to hold coaches accountable. That's an admin thing....but you guys knew that I'm sure. -
Red Rider NationWhat happens if Orrville loses to Wooster next week? Will this guy not be the only coach in Orrville history to lose to a WCAL team, Triway and Wooster in an 11 month span???

Read again, I said if it didn't stop on the field, I would stop it from home, thus they can't get away with it on the field.Troll King;1299447 wrote:Read again, I said they know they can get away with it on the FIELD wasn't implying at home. -

Since last year was the first time we've played a WCAL team in 30 years..so .probably.
I'll let you print up the shirts....
On another note..it was encouraging to see playmakers last night (Zook, Inmann & Short) on offense all being underclassmen. It will be about using that talent correct but we've got some kids coming back.
Wooster game will be a tossup, their 0 against West Holmes matched ours.
So lets say we win...for an 8th straight time & 7 straight under Davault?? Will that change anything among the detractors?
