I have a feeling Norwaynes defense would not have looked quite so good last year if they would have played our schedule. Not trying to take Anything away from them, But we were beat up from the schedule we played. Big difference between Dalton, Rittman, Doylestown, waynedale. Versus Northwest , Copley, Mansfield Senior, Ashland , Wooster and WestHolmes. We were physically beat up from playing bigger schools all year. Again I'm not trying to take away from Norwayne's accomplishment, But if we were Not so banged up we could have played with any of those final four teams.Go Falcons;1300146 wrote:Kenton was not one dimensional, yes they threw first, and second, but third Mauk ran and ran effectively. Kenton stopped Hartley by putting ten men in the box, because all Hartley did was run. Beating Smithville, well nine times out of ten Norwayne would have beat them, the Bobcats stacked the deck against themselves that game. -

No excuses here , we were outplayed and outcoached by Norwayne period.scarface1;1300164 wrote:Dont agree with much you say troll but i do think you are right about this. The injuries hurt Orrville more than anyone new and i give them credit for not using this as an excuse for losing in the playoffs. -

Support. Much different from living vicariously.Troll King;1300132 wrote:We are living through 17 year olds? Okay let me go write something on my Red Rider sports blog , then go put a video together Of the team to show On the scoreboard at the game, give updates on all the injuries, oh wait I can't do this stuff because you already do all that. Besides my life revolves around more than just sitting around on the computer researching stats and writing about17-year-olds. Now I ask you who's living vicariously through who ?
And my time lately is being spent with my 3 kids...trying to bring them up right.
Series, as long as my "one side" is the positive side, then I'll do that all day long. Call it the counter to your agenda-driven hate. -
RedRider1And like we've heard on this site plenty of times...if you don't like what i write..don't read it. Some of you claim you don't read it, but seem to know plenty about it...so I appreciate the visits and the comments in the past about how you appreciate the historical information I've gathered. That's probably what the site will become...too tough to keep up with numerous sports 9 months out of the year.
Hence, therefore & alas. -

Be careful what you write, you will be contradicting yourself very soon! Your "vicarious support" of the team with your 3 kids will help them to live vicariously therein!RedRider1;1300191 wrote:Support. Much different from living vicariously.

Your "positive" one-sidedness is to tell half the story, and twist that if it doesn't make you feel all fuzzy inside. Telling the whole story does not make it negative, it's called the truth, the whole truth! In your narrow-minded comprehension, it will only be considered "hate" because it doesn't agree with your unrealistic fantasy! -

I don't need to read it anymore because you aren't talking about anything but history and stats, the same as you do here.RedRider1;1300199 wrote:And like we've heard on this site plenty of times...if you don't like what i write..don't read it. Hence, your life may become nothing without living vicariously through high schoolers, especially football and basketball...
Therefore, we know you will continue on living vicariously through the high schoolers...
Alas...tell the whole story, the truth, it's not negative to say the Riders record is 1-8 and that it'll really mess with you if they lose to Wooster! -

He gave up too he just wont admit it. Not even a mere glimpse of a preview on the blog since the Ashland game! -
riders1Is the defensive coordinator in charge of the defensive players? Or is he only responsible for the good plays and does he choose who to put on the field? Can he not pull his defensive players off the field after personal fouls, or is that only a head coaches responsibility. It would seem that the defensive discipline is his responsibility and a reflection of how he coaches/teaches them. Seems to me that most penalties this season were on the defense so it's not only the head coach who should be thrown under the bus but the offensive and defensive coordinators may not be coaching geniuses either despite what some may say and think. No head coaches in waiting here.

The Offensive coordinator is definitely no genius , you can tell that by Looking at the scoreboard Each week. However the defense always seems to play much better in the second half after the Defensive coach makes adjustments. Something the Offensive coaches do not know how to do. I don't know who's in charge of yanking players off the field after personal fouls but somebody ought to be doing it . As far as your genius remark, there is no contest As to who is the best football coach on this team . Coach Haley by a landslide !riders1;1300383 wrote:Is the defensive coordinator in charge of the defensive players? Nice post as usual you add nothing to the conversation. Shouldnt you be at Mrs J's sipping on your decaffeinated coffee? The game has obviously passed you up and you clearly know NOTHING about it. Way to throw Coach Haley under the bus and once again defend your boy! It all starts and stops with the head coach and there is nothing you can argue there. Whats the breakfast special at Mrs J's this morning coffee and bull----??? -
RedRider1I was out of town all week leading up to the Clear Fork game...no time to write a preview....the week before that my wife had parent-teacher conferences....again, no time for writing.
Call it BS all you want, but again, just the truth. The last thing I need to do is justify myself to a group of haters...and I know you won't take it at face value, but there you go.
Don't have the time like I used to and I've always said that my family will win out when it comes to prioritizing time.
RRN....I'll gladly pass the torch to you if you want to continue writing your book. Maybe TK can write the forward about his playing days and Series can throw in his 2 cents about his experiences as well....should be a best seller. -

Hmmmm I have heard the time card from you more then once however you seem to spend a lot of time on here! I will take your jab on the book no big deal but it is called a "foreword" not a forward but I would not expect you to know that. -

Why do you always drag me into your conversations. I haven't dissed you lately have I ? I only ask why you resort to name calling when someone doesn't agree with your side of things. I wish when you were arguing with someone you leave me out of it.RedRider1;1300484 wrote:I was out of town all week leading up to the Clear Fork game...no time to write a preview....the week before that my wife had parent-teacher conferences....again, no time for writing.

Please tell me how I am a hater when I only want the best for this team . I think this team would be better Off with a new head coach . It's just my opinion I've been a Rider fan for 36 years .I've never had a kid play for them so I go Because I love the riders , Unlike a lot of people who stop going after their sons graduate . I just don't get how I'm a hater for simply wanting better for this team. I know they can perform better I know they can be coached better . I have all the respect in the world for Devault as a man . I think he is a wonderful human being he's just not a good football coach . Does that make me a horrible person for simply having that opinion . I have based this opinion on things I have seen over the last five years . My opinion is I honestly believe we could have a better coach running this team . I don't think you'll find a bigger fan of Orrville than me . I am entitled to my opinion just as you are . It doesn't make me a hater or anything else it just means I'm stating my heartfelt opinion . If I am a hater I would not have spent the last 36 years going every Friday night to watch and cheer for this team .RedRider1;1300484 wrote:I was out of town all week leading up to the Clear Fork game...no time to write a preview....the week before that my wife had parent-teacher conferences....again, no time for writing.

RedRider1There's the key..for me anyways..as long as you are in it for what you perceive as best for the kids, then that's all I care about.
Feel free to have any opinion you wish...just allow room for others to disagree with the opinion. That's why this site exists.
Seems lately you want to talk about how you're right and the rest of us were wrong for even daring to support this team. Good for you that you saw it in the stars that this team was going to be 1-8. I think we all knew a dip was possible after last year...but we all hoped for the best. We looked good in our 7-on-7's but that should show how much stock to put in those. Week 1 went pretty good but it's been tough sledding.
I think by default we should support the kids, it should be the automatic response. Doesn't mean we have blinders on, just means we want the school we graduated from to do well.
I think it's just piling on a little..the kids & coaches are struggling through a 1-8 season....and all of a sudden there's this groundswell for a new coach, a coach that's had exactly 1 losing season in 7 years and has won 51 games in those 7 years (7+ per season). Just think its more than a little premature for the replacement talk.
It pops up now because its convenient. Nobody was saying that last season or the 5 years before that. Some were lying around waiting for this program to have a bad season so they could start this conversation...if you call yourself a Red Rider and are one of those people, I think that's incredibly sad...and wreaks of a personal agenda versus the man...not the coach.
That's my thoughts on nobody in particular. Support is easy to give, and this of all weeks it should come easy. -

As usual you add nothing but your venom to the thread , and for your info I have never spoken with the head coach, he's not my boy, but have been observing the Orrville sports scene game after game for years and am not impressed with most of this staff and place the poor play onto ALL their shoulders. You point your know it all fingers where you want and I will continue be amused by your idiotic rantings. Now move on and go to the Wooster game and cheer on the Red Riders if you can, if not your opinion is known and been repeated ad nauseam so get over yourself and add something useful to the thread.Red Rider Nation;1300481 wrote:Nice post as usual you add nothing to the conversation. If he posted a realistic preview, he will have to say something that's too difficult for him, that there would be a possibility of losing to Clear Fork (they did), and then to Wooster!Red Rider Nation;1300376 wrote:He gave up too he just wont admit it. If he writes that, he'll then have to write something even more difficult! He'll have to call himself a hater, basher, and negative which could lead to the deconstruction of his Riders blog site! -

So if I dont go to the Wooster game I do not have the right to post my opinion? Is that like if I dont vote I cant have an opinion? I dont need to attend the game to know there will be late hits, lack of discipline, lack of desire, and the current Coach standing 30yds away from his team. I have that image burned in my mind as it is that way every game I have attended since he took over. No thanks I am sure I can find something better to do with my time! -

I understand everything you just said. I haven't been on this site for that long, However I have been telling people for years that Devault was the wrong coach Picked . I've said all along there were more qualified and better head coaches out there who wanted this job. I believe they were passed over because they were not Orrville guys. I have no agenda against the man as I said He is a great guy, Just not a great coach. I have felt this way for years this isn't something new. It was easy to win with the boatload of talent he's been blessed with but now that The talent is thin we're seeing How good he is. I do hope they beat Wooster Friday , But my head says they won't.RedRider1;1300885 wrote:There's the key..for me anyways..as long as you are in it for what you perceive as best for the kids, then that's all I care about.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. Sounds like we are on the exact same page about the coach its just that my delivering of my opinion is like a poisonous snake and yours is like a bunny rabbit. I am really glad we worked this out. You are not impressed and neither am I. I will not be there Saturday but good luck! -
rrfanWow a lot of reading to catch up on here. As for the personal fouls...Really? Does anyone remember Deke Hostetler, Mark Hershey and otheres. They got then constantly. It happens when frustration starts to overcome a team. It does not make it right and I would sit there butts, however that is a coaches decision.
As I have said before and will say again. This team has very very very little talent and from the sounds of it for the next few years as well. It has been a long year and I would love nothing more than to see these kids get a win against Wooster!
