Orrville Red Rider Football 2012

FlashThe school board will have public meetings (although not usually well attended) as the election nears. Red Rider is right that even if we pass this levy we'll need more money in 5 years unless the State changes the way schools are funded. 86% of the budget is personnel. The teachers have taken no increase in their base salary the last couple of years, but the step increases for years of service and increased education are still in place. The State took away the tangible personal property tax that was used to help fund schools and that's a big part of why we need the increase.

RedRider1That's another example of a change that results in increased costs....the state changing funding and making new unfounded mandates....meaning money set aside for something now has to go to a new state required program.
Teachers are under more scrutiny, more regulations and more pressure than ever before....we ought to thank our teachers at every opportunity for choosing to be involved in our children's lives........oh and now they have to worry daily about school safety on top of all that. -

It's not a touchy subject and no feathers were ruffled.Old Rider;1348746 wrote:Touchy subject for ya??? I'm not here to talk politics..because I hate politics. I just knew that would ruffle the feathers a bit.
Have a Merry Christmas!
I guess you thought I would get upset and say something useless like you did!
If you hate politics...leave the subject alone...and go wipe that egg off your face! -

rr1, old rider hates and does not like to talk politics...you might be "ruffling his feathers", so you better stop or he might leave AGAIN!RedRider1;1348906 wrote:That's another example of a change that results in increased costs....the state changing funding and making new unfounded mandates....meaning money set aside for something now has to go to a new state required program.

Increased costs are effecting us all...the teachers aren't the only people that have to face layoffs, cut-backs, increased burdens and responsibilities to perform our jobs as well as being mindful of security at our workplace. For some of us the cost of employee-paid healthcare, especially if you have children, is seriously expensive. I can and do appreciate the job and responsibilities they have on their hands.RedRider1;1348906 wrote:That's another example of a change that results in increased costs....the state changing funding and making new unfounded mandates....meaning money set aside for something now has to go to a new state required program.

Amen! Many of us have had to face tough times for the last few years. This is nothing new! Just closer to home for some.Series62;1349020 wrote:Increased costs are effecting us all...the teachers aren't the only people that have to face layoffs, cut-backs, increased burdens and responsibilities to perform our jobs as well as being mindful of security at our workplace. I hope it all works out. Go Riders! -
RedRider1Just read an interesting stat and it lends well to the coaching vs. talent debate....Bill Belichick is 122-44 when Tom Brady is his starting QB...and 53-53 when he's not.
Belichick is considered a hall of fame coach with multiple Super Bowls... But statistics show him as a very average coach without his elite QB.
Just thought that was very interesting. -

Wait now YOU are comparing high school to the NfL? There you go contradicting yourself again. You continue to do so! -

Excited about what??? The awesome talent that all the sudden we just pulled out of the sky??? Some of you guys on here never cease to amaze me! You have done nothing but complain about our lack of talent this year and for years to come but now you are excited about next year? What changed???AllOhio;1348713 wrote:Awesome stuff RIDER DAD! Makes me excited for next season...need the two-headed RB (Dyson,Inman) & QB (Short) in that weightroom ALL summer ( and any other "down" time) to make this turnaround happen! Great to hear the work is beginning for some. -

Rider dad, please tell your son and his football friends to stop lifting and doing plyometrics for the foreseeable future, according to Red Rider Negative Nations we have to settle for status quo, please have them start eating chips and play Xbox immediately. What are those kids thinking trying to get better? Every one settle down crises averted, we will hope to stay a one win team, so Red Rider Negative Nations can continue to wine about something. Whooo that was close.Red Rider Nation;1349093 wrote:Excited about what??? The awesome talent that all the sudden we just pulled out of the sky??? Some of you guys on here never cease to amaze me! Tell your other buddies that on here not me-read back thru the 112 pages talking about a lack of talent-I am the one all along calling that hogwash! I believe there was and still will be talent here - do your homework before you post please!!!REDRIDER555;1349142 wrote:Rider dad, please tell your son and his football friends to stop lifting and doing plyometrics for the foreseeable future, according to Red Rider Negative Nations we have to settle for status quo, please have them start eating chips and play Xbox immediately. RedRider1Playing XBox is what allows some on here to play the role of armchair coach so well.
And yeah.....sorry for being optimistic and hopeful for 2013. Plenty can change between now & then if the kids work now at being bigger, faster & stronger. A growth spurt for a few would be nice to see as well. -
RedRider1And RRN, what does it matter about returning talent....I thought it was ALL coaching and if we just changed that, we'd be 15-0?
Talk about contradicting statements. LOL. -

To answer your question: I am ALWAYS excited for Red Rider football, no matter what happened the previous season. That's called " being a fan" and supporter of our athletic teams. And btw, not once have I complained about our talent nor our coaches...that also is just me being a fan and supporter. It's called OPTIMISM...try it sometime!Red Rider Nation;1349093 wrote:Excited about what??? The awesome talent that all the sudden we just pulled out of the sky??? Just because I don't think Davault is the right choice for this job does NOT mean I am not a supporter of the program! I travel further than most to watch the games and can speak my opinion. As far as my previous post regarding talent I am being sarcastic due to the fact that many on here want to just say we have none. I totally disagree with that!AllOhio;1349632 wrote:To answer your question: I am ALWAYS excited for Red Rider football, no matter what happened the previous season. RIDER DADSorry 555 my son loves to lift won’t give it up, although as we speak his butt is in a furniture truck lifting all the wonderful products people bought for Christmas! (Sorry had to get my plug in).
Everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy and Victorious New year.
PS. My New Years wish will be to get Zook and Summers to post next year. -

Statistics show that he is also a very good defensive coach. Yes, it takes talent to make a good defense, and offense, perform, but it also takes good coaching to motivate players average and excellent to perform.RedRider1;1349064 wrote:Just read an interesting stat and it lends well to the coaching vs. talent debate....Bill Belichick is 122-44 when Tom Brady is his starting QB...and 53-53 when he's not.

Phil Jackson is considered the greatest basketball coach because he was able, (with Tex Winter's "triangle" offense), to take very good Chicago Bulls basketball team and turn it into a six-time championship team, similarly, five-time with the L.A. Lakers. Yes...he had excellent talent, but you know what happened with his coaching.
Again, I know talent is needed, and again, the coach has to have the ability to motivate players to "want" work hard! -
RedRider1Merry Christmas!!

RIDER DADNeed to get some football talk started, does anyone know when the coaches sit down to plan, for upcoming season, I am kind of interested if the offense is going to change, with different personal at the key spots. On a different note, looks like our two running backs are starting to mature on the basketball court from the few games I have seen, hope that continues into the weight room and onto the football field, lots of potential in those two.

riders1Time to start the 2013 football thread and close out 2012 !
