I have no idea what's going on. I really don't. No doubt though, Sikora is considering other options. Who knows if he'll stay or not?omemorialhigh;954018 wrote:lets just talk about this...is sikora leaving or what. lots of struthers folk are saying hes coming back but zetts doesnt want it. an extension is on the table for sikora and he hasnt signed it yet...thats proof enough to me that hes unsure about staying.
If Zetts doesn't want to come back, is there any chance that Sikora will come to Struthers and leave Zetts in Campbell? Or are those two connected at the hip?
If Coach Asher stays for another year, is there any chance of Sikora coming to be the DC, and then taking over as HC when Asher moves on? Like, say Sikora coaches the LBs and calls the defense. Then Sikora could take over as HC when Asher leaves. I know that'd be tough to work out. Asher likes his staff that he has in place... I don't even know that he'd allow something like that, or that Sikora would accept a position other than HC. I'd think that they'd be able to find a place on the staff for Sikora and/or Zetts, if they really wanted to. There aren't many homegrown coaches on the staff anymore, if any. IMO, it'd be nice to have someone on the staff that is familiar with Struthers/Campbell, Struthers/Hubbard, Struthers/Poland, etc.
Asher is really looking forward to coaching at Struthers next year though. Until it becomes official that he's been relieved of his duties, he's the coach. Why talk about him like he's already gotten fired?
Week 1 of 2012... Struthers/Campbell on a Thursday. There's no reason why it shouldn't replace Poland/Hubbard as the first MyYTV GOTW of the season. -

oldschoolreddevCould you blame Sikora if he left? I mean this season has been a roller coaster ride. From his blunder at Brookfield to the pathetic display by the players against Struthers. There is enough blame to go around from the administration down to the water boy.
My question is who is gonna be man enough to take a leadership role and take responsibility for what happened this year?
That being said, let's talk about the good for a change. We had another winning season with a share of the league title. We were in contention for a playoff spot and we developed some good talent for 2012. The cupboard is not bare, just need to learn from our mistakes and move forward.
I hope that Sikora and his Staff stays. I believe that we can turn the corner and be successful on a consistent basis. -

I also hope that Sikora and staff stay at Campbell. There were on and off the field discipline problems with certain players on this team from the very beginning of the summer to the end of the season. Some of these kids have been rocking the boat in the classroom and on the playing field since middle school. Maybe if Coach Sikora handled things a little bit differently than he did during the summer the season would not have ended so suddenly. But that's hindsight. And we'll never know for sure.oldschoolreddev;954495 wrote:Could you blame Sikora if he left? I mean this season has been a roller coaster ride. What troubles me is this: Did anyone else get the impression that the coaches and the fans wanted to see this team move on to the OHSAA playoffs more than some of the players did? Not all of the players. We've got good kids on this team who really wanted to play in week 11 and beyond. But I got the impression that a select few looked as if they did not play up to their potential last week vs. Struthers, not only in the way they played, but in the way they conducted themselves on the field during the game. I am not going to mention any names. But we got beat all over the field by a Struthers team that was not as experienced or as talented. We got our as**s kicked by Struthers kids who wanted to win. Struthers head coach Asher mentioned that the Campbell game was looked upon as a playoff game by the Struthers players and coaches. And they played like it was. It looked as if Campbell was just going through the motions.
If Coach Sikora stays he should cut any player he may have coming into next season as soon as something even slightly similar to what happened this season starts to surface. He needs to set an example right from the get go. No second chances for anyone. Coach Bayuk started the comeback of Campbell football. And Coach Sikora has done a good job continuing it. Having a coaching change now might jeopardize the progress that the program has made over the past three years. If the poor display we saw last Friday is related to what happened in the Brookfield game, shame on those who purposely chose to play less than what they are capable of. Despite a 7-3 record and a shared AAC championship, your last game is what you will be most remembered for.
SENIORS TO BE IN 2012 ........STEP UP AND BECOME LEADERS. START LEADING THIS WINTER IN THE WEIGHTROOM. A TEAM IS ONLY AS GOOD AS ITS SENIORS. -
omemorialhighSpread, Zetts refuses to come back to Struthers even if Sikora does...he still has alot of hard feelings and wants no part of the upper tier. Not speculating just telling you what the man has said. He is open to a different place though.
-
omemorialhighsikora really just doesnt strike me as the type of guy that after a bad loss he joins that team instead of trying to beat them. but i dont know...maybe thats just the type of guy id want him to be. he doesnt seem like a tuck and run type of guy

reddevil90I truly dont see zetts in struthers next year. Sikora possibly. But sikora knows the worst is over with this group. And the talent retuning next year and the talent that we have coming up might be enough to keep him here. I wont deny that this group destroyed a promising year. But i have heard nothing but good things about this team coming up. Other then one or two that might be problematic. Has anyone have any idea what the group of kids are like next year? i heard that Hughes might be a big problem and one other... but what about the rest? Also if sikora leaves would the board offer the head job to Zetts? But i would like to think that Sikora would not abandon the kids. He had a hard time not giving these knuckleheads a second chance. Hell even a third chance. Im sorry he might have a soft heart. But they would not have been on my team before the season started. He might have felt that he didn't have enough talent to overcome kicking 3 or 4 starters off the team. But i thought we had a tone of it sitting all year. But i was very sad to see the season end like it did for a lot of the players that actually wanted it to go on.. Some played there hearts out all year when some just came and showed up. I feel bad for them.

Wishful thinking on our part... yes. The nonsense wasn't started by us though.soupcitysoldier;956772 wrote:rumors are not true...just wishful thinking on some peoples part. already preparing for next year....sikora will be back. just to put an end to that nonsense.
With Sikora staying in Campbell, and Zetts refusing to come back... I can only presume that Asher's job in Struthers is safe, for at least another year.
One important thing to note is that Campbell has a lot of talent coming up... as in little or no varsity experience. Struthers has a lot of talent coming back... with a ton of varsity experience. The Cats have about 12 starters coming back, many of whom play both ways. About half of them are currently Sophomores.
No one has mentioned it yet, and I know the focus is and should be on the bigger picture, but Ja'les Hughes was held under 75 yards rushing last week and came up like 4 yards short of breaking Campbell's All Time Rushing Record. -
oldschoolreddevI am glad he didn't break the all time rushing mark. He couldn't hold Shawn Pattons' jock!
-
soupcitysoldierhahahahahahahha maybe some work in the weightroom at all during the offseason instead of pretending to run track then quit then drive around campbell would have got him those 4 yards. tough lesson to learn. take notes young guys...
-
Spread All DaySo love the kid all season.... Then hate him. Makes sense guys lmao

Hughes was a good back. But if he had worked at least some in the weightroom he could have been much better. The kids returning need to take notice of the shortcomings of this season and work harder in the offseason.Spread All Day;961019 wrote:So love the kid all season.... Then hate him. oldschoolreddevI never once said I loved him. He is a decent back. I have seen better RB's play for Memorial. Shawn Pattons, Deland M, Karlin Adams, John Gore, Walt Wright, Brandon Hamilton. These guys are head and shoulders above Mr Hughes.
Decent back, not a team player at all. Not leader at all. Good luck in the future! -
soupcitysoldierlet me tell you something else that is disappointing...if campbell would have been lucky enough to play in week 12 half the team wouldve been ineligible including your star running back and wide receiver. if someone could tell me what these kids are thinking please let me know.

Was told HC wanted out, using the same line he used here. They promised me this and that, now they're not willing to fulfill their promises. He was in Zville at regional Vball finals, talking about WGH job.BTrev;954331 wrote:I have no idea what's going on. I really don't. No doubt though, Sikora is considering other options. oldschoolreddevR we talking about Sikora, Zetts or Asher
-
RIP.Soroka.89Ok first,
Nobody 'HATES' any of the kids on the team. Bottom line is, the way some members of this team portrayed themselves on and off the field, they don't deserve to be immortalized.
Second,
Pooter is an EL guy so he's talking about Asher. For the record, Harding would be dumb as hell to even consider him. He's done nothing significant at all to warrant him getting what would still he considered an elite job.
Third,
Bayuk was originally hired at WGH and resigned a day later when he couldn't get Sikora and staff to join him. That may not be the case this time around if they give him another chance. -

Sikora is not going anywhere. Although this season did not end the way most of us wanted it to, the cupboard at Campbell is far from bare. Coach Sikora knows he has a good group of kids coming back and some seniors to be that are ready and willing to be leaders.RIP.Soroka.89;963493 wrote:Ok first,

RIP.Soroka.89Very true.
I'm simply stating the option I see most likely reason if, in fact, he did decide to leave.
