WWEK 10: STRUTHERS (4-5) AT CAMPBELL MEMORIAL (7-2)

  • reddevil90
Rivalry is when you have no respect for the other team. Sorry but that's what made the struthers Campbell week so special and why it was covered by every single tv station in the area. big write ups in the papers. this was the biggest rivalry in the area at one time. The kids dont know. the fans dont know unless they been there during it. The kids need to be shown first by the fans that its a very important game. But unfortunately like dean said there are about 100 die hard Campbell fans left. and its evident with the weather and if they win or lose. those same people are there every week and travel with the team. This was the first year in my entire life that i missed most of the season. family problems will always be priority. and i have been blessed to have made all those games in that time period. its time to start another streak. If the board would have done more to show the accomplishments of the teams before them and would have made a better effort in coaching choices over the years. Campbell i have no doubt would still been ranked one of the areas best teams during that time. Campbell always has great athletes and good kids. this years team should no reflect the good Campbell has. a few dead heads ruined the season for many players. This team was special. the talent was just sick. coaches drool over the talent this team had. but as everyone seen it dont mean crap when you have kids that only think of themselves. If this team was anything like the team before. Wow we would have been unstoppable.

I'm not saying that they need to hold hands and go on a picnic together... or even like each other. But for those 48 minutes that they're out on the field, they'd better respect the other team's athletic ability. No cheap shots... no personal fouls... no trash talk... no spitting in anyone's face.

    It's called discipline.

And a huge part of a rivalry is respect. It's what separates that game from the others.

Most of the loyal Campbell fans were well aware of potential problems developing because of a few of the seniors on the 2011 team. None of us were surprised when they surfaced. With those few graduating, expect to see Campbell represented much better in 2012. Campbell Memorial is not the only school with problem kids. Each and every school has its share of them.

Yeah. Campbell has a nice bunch of talented players next year. There dedicated to represent there city. And like the team before this one. They have decided that they wanted to play as a devil and go out as a devil. I'm proud of Letlow most of all. He gave 1000% on defense this year. he was almost always in or near the defense stop. He was to me the best defensive player on the field. He was exciting to watch. And I'm sad to see him go. But i do indeed agree with you dean. the 2012 team what ever record they have will be a better team more dedicated. Leaders will be on the field. I'm excited to see what we will accomplish with this years talent and speed. Defense should be again good with the size and speed. Got a great QB returning and i know we have some size for the offensive line and someone will emerge at tailback. future is bright. Just know that it only takes one knucklehead and that the coaches need to nip it right away before they even put pads on for doubles.

Coach Zetts will not be returning to Struthers. My guess is, he'll be back at Campbell.

Now comes the tantrums and crying about how ridiculous it is, and that Coach Zetts shouldn't be allowed back at Campbell.

And as for the week 1 meeting this year, because I know everyone is still upset about it, Campbell should be happy they're playing week 1 and not week 10. If you guys thought that Struthers's schedule was tougher and prepared them more for the finale last year, this year's schedule is way way tougher. I say, if Campbell is gonna knock off Struthers in 2012, they have a much better chance of doing it in week 1 than in week 10.

... and yes, Coach Zetts will be coaching for Campbell next year.
  • sonnyblack
Simple question, simple answer. Personally i could care less if he stayed or went somewhere else. There has been a lot of "MISINFORMATION" going around, thanks for the clarification, see you week 1.

    You're welcome.

Like I previously suggested, I think Coach Zetts was just teaching the Strength and Conditioning class... he may have helped out the Football team with their lifting, before they filled the Head Coaching vacancy... but this is Coach Kuntz's team now. He's in charge of the weight lifting program, which officially started on Tuesday.

I know Coach Kuntz wanted to bring a strength coach from Poland with him, but I'm not sure if he was able to get him on staff or not.

I'll try to find out more this weekend... about who is on Coach K's staff, and who isn't.

I don't see why people would get upset over Coach Zetts teaching a class though. It's just like being angry at a coach for teaching PE at another school. Doesn't make much sense...

Campbell's schedule is a bit tougher also for 2012. The Red Devils have Lakeview and Jefferson Area replacing Mineral Ridge and Ashtabula Edgewood.

I agree. Their schedule is also improved this year... but they still don't play the likes of Niles, Hubbard, Poland, Canfield, and Howland.

Week 1 will be very interesting...

Campbell should have a better season. Plenty of speed talent. Size on both sides and experience. Ja'les will be missed and so will Letlow and some others. but there are some that wont be. There is plenty to be excited about this year. and i do not anticipate the problems that plagued the the team this last season. It was a shame that with all the talent they had there was no leader and no discipline. But as i said the team coming up this year and Reyes at qb should provide some good excitement and good wins. I cant wait for it to start already and to see who emerges as the premier back. Cause there is a few very fast and talented backs. I do see another Hughes getting the call at tailback.

Word is a certain class of 2011 senior is joining the coaching staff to help coach the line. These kids will definately be taught the pride and tradition of being a true Red Devil. Also, as others stated before the problems are gone, and any that try to arise will be shown the door. We won't see that pathetic example of senior leadership we saw last season.

Also, I think we'll see a backfield of DeShawn Johnson at Tailback and Adrian Brown at Fullback. Maybe Charles or Shamar lining up at FB as well. I hope to see that double FB set like we saw with Sikora and Benedis

The Jackson brothers (brandon and aaron) are back at Campbell, and both are "very" athletic. Look for brandon to be the starting tailback next year, he'll only be a junior, faster than ja'les from what i was told.
  • reddevil90
I don't think it matters who gets the call for Tail back cause all of them are very fast and talented. its good to a devils fan with the tradition slowly making a return. i hope to see more then a few hundred fans at home games this year. its a shame i tell you. 3 years two of them playoffs and a 7-3 season last year and we cant even get the stadium filled to half capacity.

Sweet. If we can keep that offensive line intact and the kids coming up can pitch in, Campbell has another nice team coming back.

There was some banter about the turf being installed in time for next season. I am trying to get some concrete information on whether this is in fact true. So far I have not gotten that. If they do install turf, I expect it to be done during the spring. This costs quite a bit of money. My question is where did the money come from if this is indeed going to happen? I do know that someone was talking to the representatives at Dick's Sporting Goods headquarters late in the fall.
