Right on B-Trev. If that 90 something yard run from brooks wasn't called back which would of made it 20-7 it would of been a different game. Lets not dwell on last year, and try to not look past the Cats. You were favored vs Labrae and Brookfield too guys.... Struthers has played better teams, Struthers has a better general attitude, and Yes Struthers wants this game like its the state championship game. You better believe they will play like it.BTrev;943070 wrote:Only one team showed up, huh?
Wasn't it fairly close after 3 and 1/2 quarters? The D couldn't get Ja'les on the ground, I admit. You act like Campbell dominated from start to finish and won 70-0. It was 51-35... that's only 2 possessions. Struthers squandered a great opportunity to get some points and take the lead just before halftime too.
Campbell made more plays, and they deserved to win.
It was hardly one sided though... -
Spread All Dayand Yes, Coach Asher is very close to coach Clark at Brookfield..

Nice idea. I will forward this to a couple of people who can look into it.sooner1;943029 wrote:BigDean, they need to have alumni football players night for the Campbell/Struthers game. They should charge $20 for shirt have the guys in the locker room and on the sidelines. Have a couple guys speak to team. Just a suggestion. -

BTrevI'm not sure I follow either. They can talk strategy and everything, but Struthers doesn't have the same talents as Brookfield. Not that they aren't talented... they just have different talents.
1 year that comes to mind. 2003. Campbell won 41-40 in Triple OT. If Struthers had won, they would've made the playoffs... and probably would've went to Stambaugh to play Mooney in week 11.
It's time to repay the favor! -
oldschoolreddevBig game for both schools. It will come down to the wire. Good luck red devils!

cmhs_prideIt was indeed a battle I agree. I don't know the weather will allow 80 plus points Friday. The field is a nightmare already.
Sooner1, I have known you for about 25 plus yrs. I agree with you when you say that former Alum should be recognized and have the opportunity to speak to the kids about the game. Maybe a different group all week long can come to the practices, be on the sidelines..... Cheer on the Devils..... But we have a serious problem with all that. Last week 300 people were at the game. For the title and 300 people showed up on a home side that holds over 3,000 probably. I mean there is no support for these kids from former players. I see you, Jimmy and Lefty Haz, Chris Kelly, Stav, and Rich Randall at games. That's it. And I will tell you it's upsetting to alot of guys from that era. Now I get the fact you guys feel shunned.... Trust me. And that's why some of us are trying to get more involved who are from that era, whether we played or not. But we need you guys to help us. Forget the older people set in their ways and start bringing guys from our era to Grid Iron Meetings, games, alumni tailgating, etc. The only way we can do honor the guys from the past the right way is to all come together and respectively begin to take charge now of this situation. Jo Rohan, and Tony Sarge can't do it alone. We need help from all classes of players. It's the only way we get this done. -

Very good post. I have seen Sean McKinney at some games too. So add him to the short list above. Pride, that home side seats 4,500, excluding the standing room area behind the wall. On Sunday I did put up a post on Facebook asking ALL Campbell Memorial alumni to attend the Struthers game this Friday. Man, I remember what Struthers week was like back when I was in school. The entire week was amazing.cmhs_pride;943369 wrote:It was indeed a battle I agree. I don't know the weather will allow 80 plus points Friday. The field is a nightmare already.

omemorialhighJust really cant see Struthers beating Campbell...on any night.

sooner1If Coach Sikora wanted, I or whoever else would speak to the team to tell them about the Campbell/Struthers rivalry. Each person probably has a story to tell. I don't know the answer as to why no one shows up for the games. But if they utilize the Campbell TV station, put information in the Vindicator and maillout literature, maybe that might help.

omemorialhighthe problem in campbell right now is this...the people sending their kids to campbell didnt graduate from campbell...and the people that graduated from campbell dont send their kids to campbell. so the people who didnt grow up here have no interest in showing and the people who did have no interest in driving from their poland home to campbell to see a game.

oldschoolreddevIt is a problem with alumni support. However, there is a ton of history behind most of the reasons why most alumni don't show any support. I hope that there could be a mending of fences but until recently the administration said FU to a lot of us so it just doesn't sit well.
-
Spread All DayPoint: coach Clark from Brookfield shut campbell down, perhaps asher can get some tips from Clark?
Also it was said you couldn't see Campbell losing to Struthers... Just like you couldn't see them losing to labrae or brookfield. The warriors should of beat Campbell by 14 +. I do believe Struthers and Brookfield have about the same talent on the field. I watch both play regularly.
Not saying the cats are ginna win, but it will be a very good game. I look for the good guys to win. Go cats!!! -

It amazes me that the administration would thumb their noses at the very alumni who made Campbell Memorial one of the better and most feared football programs in the state of Ohio from the mid 1980's to the early 1990's.oldschoolreddev;943753 wrote:It is a problem with alumni support. OhioTalent wise its a toss up between brookfield and struthers but heart and integrity is at a whole nother level for the brookfield kids this year they dont quit... That being said i look for Struthers to either
1. Try and run Stewart "If Healthy" until it doesnt work anymore.
or
2. Let Muntean open the game up and throw the outs and underneath patterns that have worked since hes been in the game.... I would Run Kimbrough on a go every single play to keep the Campbell safeties on him over top to open up the middle of the field where struthers has excelled throwing the ball in recent weeks... Also look for Zetts to be zetts and throw one of those magical lplays in if the game isnt going how he wants it.
Should be very cold Friday night but no rain as of now at gametime but it will be a very muddy one out there. -
reddevil90Another year and another screw The Campbell and Struthers game for game of the week. This game will be a slobberknocker . There loss. Whoop them kittens. Defend Knapick!!

Campbell beat themselves vs. Brookfield. Anyone who was there knows what happened in the last minute of that game. Campbell also turned the ball over in the second quarter when one of the Campbell receivers was stripped of the ball as he was nearing the 10 yard line deep in Brookfield territory. It was an alert play by the Brookfield defender and a bonehead play by a receiver who did not tuck the ball away. Campbell also had a penalty hurt them on another drive deep in Brookfield territory.Spread All Day;943763 wrote:Point: coach Clark from Brookfield shut campbell down, perhaps asher can get some tips from Clark?

I don't know who you are referring to but from my perspective I circled South Range, Brookfield, LaBrae, Girard and Struthers as tough games for Campbell BEFORE the season began. I looked at the schedule and figured that Campbell would be an 8-2 or 7-3 team this season. And that's right where they are heading into week 10. As far as comparisons go, I throw them out the window whenever Campbell and Struthers play. It is often a good game regardless of the won-loss record each team has.
Coach Asher has a choice of game tapes he can review of Campbell. And vice versa for Coach Sikora. Unless you have access to game films I find it interesting as to how you are able to watch both Brookfield and Struthers play regularly since they both play at the same time, mostly on Friday nights. Nine games have been played this season. How many times have you seen each team? This is a huge game for Campbell because of where they stand in the computer ratings. Struthers would like to be the spoiler of Campbell's postseason hopes. We'll see what happens on Friday. I don't make predictions on games. The players read these threads and I don't want any of them thinking about how good they are or how inferior. -
cmhs_prideThings are starting to be put into place little by little. Now that's on an organized level. But let's talk smaller scale. I am going to ask this on FB as well. I want each and every fan going to the Campbell game to try and bring 2 people with them. It will be beyond hard I know but try.
Omemorialhigh is dead on like it or not. Half our era lives between rte 170 and the tip of 224 way up in Canfield...... And besides wishing the devils luck.... These so called always a devil people can care less. Sad but true. -
omemorialhighwhos tougher...campbell kids or struthers kids? the prejudice has been lately struthers is tougher and campbell is more athletic. lets be honest...its because struthers has more white kids and campbell has more black kids. its sad but true. but im challenging every campbell player to make it their sole goal to destroy every struthers kid in front of them every single second of every single play. make it a point to completely dominate that player all night long, make him your ..... i challenge you. this is how i played the game. dont buy the hype that they are tougher than you. they are not. destroy them in every single aspect of the game. hit like you never hit before... give 200%, 200% of the time.
