CAMPBELL MEMORIAL 2011

omemorialhighya im hearing hes a stud. weve got some studs of our own. i truly think this is going to be the start of something special at campbell. i think the kids are buying into the program and want to stay together. i think the kids are throwbacks in a sense, theyre proud to be from SOUP CITY. one thing i think is lacking in this program, is the lack of knowledge these young kids have about the past...teams, players, college success, nfl success. these kids need to see pictures of these teams, need to be taught about the success of the players, what they did where theyve gone. they need to erect something in that stadium commemorating the 89 n 90 teams AT LEAST.

1. Thank the administration for the lack of knowledge. There should be constant reminders everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised to see a closet full of history somewhere hidden away in that school. Damn shame.
2. There shouldn't be ANYTHING erected BEFORE a statue of Knapik. Not that there shouldn't be things to commemorate the great teams, just gotta start at Chapter 1.
3. Nothing will ever be done unless funds are privately raised. The gridiron only has so much they can do...the lack of support for the club is a shame. Ive seen a few chatterers at the meetings but we all should try our best to get involved in some way. These guys barely have anyone to pass a torch to.
No excuses being given and surely no blame being passed to any of you, but one thing were all passionate about is this team and I'm sure we are can find some way to translate that and give back, myself included.
Sidenote: Martins Ferry was so impressed with our kids and program that the coach called Coach Mick and offered to make the trip up to Knapick Field to scrimmage this season because he feels our boys will have them ready for week one. That speaks volumes.
OMG I CAN'T FREAKING WAIT TIL AUGUST!!! -
soupcitysoldierlets go devils...any rumors on a certain junior-to-be lineman? im hearing some unsettling things
-
BigT761I dont want to mention any names but i heard a rumor of a very big campbell player and star going to Mooney. I hope he doesnt but anyone know who all is leaving i heard of 2 players that have made up there minds and our not saying anything till after basketball season or this school year. I sure hope he doesnt.
-
soupcitysoldierim going to wait for lets go devils to chime in on this...
-
omemorialhighlets clear this all up now. hes not leaving...straight from the horses mouth. its all a rumor according to him that isnt true. i have to say this, jales has taken a real leadership role with this team in the locker room and in school. he approached the lineman directly and asked him, and he told him it is not true. jales is starting to remind of Mel in some ways. just seems to me like something mel would do even though nobody even considered such a thing back in the day. hes getting guys to weight lifting and letting guys know hes the leader. but the rumor that this lineman was leaving is not true...according to his pwn mouth. now if hes lying to his teammates i dont know. but he has never seemed like that type of kid.

I could not get hold of you brother. Lets get in contact. Ill make a special trip down to pick them up. also I'm getting the 85 through 88 and 99 teams. i can get the 94 season for a friend of mine. I know i know how we all feel about that team. but there was kids on that team that gave all they could to save it that year. and one of those kids is one of my best friends back then. -

You're* can you also put all the years they were 0-10 and 1-9 too? Please?
There's no need to trash talk come on...
I heard some things about Hughes leaving? -
omemorialhighabsolutely no truth to that whatsoever...hes been lifting and being a leader to the whole team. he was the first to approach the lineman who was supposively leaving. and he assured everyone even if he does leave our line will be just fine without him. i am not even giving this ridiculous rumor anymore credance because i know personally its not true. i know the kid personally. so lets move on.

lol where is the trash talk? When someone comes on here and spreads a rumor that our lineman and back is leaving is trash talk. One its not even one bit true, i have a personal friend that is very very close to the kids on the team. Had a brother that played on the team last year. And if it was even mention it would have been known by him first before someone at Mooney or Ursuline would know. so all the bull is bull. And this is a Campbell tread not a rumor thread. So i i have a lot of videos of teams there was great, and i will have some games that was not so great. and that team that went 1 and 9 beat a Mooney team son, so do some research,. -
omemorialhighzero and i mean zero truth to these rumors. i think its just wishful thinking on some peoples parts or even an assumption that the best players would leave. different era of campbell football. spread all day can you p.m. your cell phone number i think we should meet up...

reddevil90I was watching some videos of the 86. Wow was McCullough part 1 a real beast!!! Sean Smith was a very good Qb. The D was a thing of beauty. The backs back in that era were phenoms.
Patton was the smallest of that era. -

That '86 team was blessed with excellent speed too. -

Oh yeah. They were fast for how big they was. Outstanding backs. Everyone talks about Patton And Deland. But man the backs on that 86 team was just pure talent and size. and with speed was a dangerous combination. D. McCullough on the 86 team ran just like McCullough on the 90 team. simply amazing. Was the Johnson's brothers Twins? Knuckles was just awesome. I was so happy to see this team. heard so much about these players and the team. I had to get videos of them. glad i did. I remember very little about being at the games in 85 and 86. i was 12 when the 85 team played and 13 in 86. this was a pure treat. I also love watching the 64 games. although only a handful of them survived. like 5 in total. i watch the Boardman game. man they hit like freight trains back then. cause every other play was fumbles and it was both teams. -
sonnyblackReddevil90, with you being so young back then, these guys may have seemed bigger: Damon McCullough was maybe 5'6" at best, Knucks around 5'9", Dre Morgan 5'7", the Johnson twins were also in the 5'8"-5'9" range but were close to 200lbs each back then. On the 85 team, Al Craig was a legit 6'0"-6'1" 180-190lbs. All these guys were strong, fast, hard hitting, a different era back then.

BigT761I am not trash talking i am Campbell all the way i go to every game. And i do not want Campbell to lose any players to any other schools specially private schools it was just a very reliable source i heard that one of the younger hughes brothers got kicked out of school or something and the dad was mad and told the boys if they wanted to go to another school it was there choice and that they made the choice to go to Mooney after the this school year. I am not trying to start anything or any rumors. I just wanted to come on and here if anyone else heard of this because i don't want to see Campbell lose any players to the private schools. We have something big going here. And i am glad to here what i was told was wrong. Go Devils!!!!!!!!!!!

That kid your talking about did not get kicked out of school. if he did he would be ineligible to play any sports next year. He got booted from the team he played on. and his brother will not leave cause he knows he will not start his senior year on any team if he transfers. He will be leading his younger brother this season. -
BigT761Sweet I cant wait i hope we get it done this year and we dont see alot of that quiting before the play is over like we some by some players last year I know not all players did this but there where a few now is the time to be building and lifting for next year. I remember a sign that was in the wait room when i was in school that said champions are made when no one is watching
