DIVISION 6 STATE CHAMPIONS Norwalk St. Paul def. Delphos St. John's 24-21
-
Red RumCongrats to St. Paul, I didn't think they had the horses, but I was wrong. The QB & No. 86 came up HUGE for the flyers.
As far as the 3rd quarter missed fumble, it was big, but after seeing the St. Paul QB convert time & time again on 3rd down, I think they would have charged back and won regardless. The DSJ secondary seemed to have trouble with the big play all night. -
o.a.b.To any Norwalk fan in the know---Is Eric Schwieterman's father or grandfather origionally from the Mercer county area ?
-
MessyDinosaurO.A.B. I dont know exactly where he is from but I know his dad went to Werhle high school (columbus area I believe), And if you know anything at all Eric was being recruited in the 1st grade : P .... just kidding. I am hoping his performance last night gets him a little more attention!

darbypitcher22Up until the Davidson finish last night, this was the best of the tournament. I thought it was the best game played overall the whole tourney; lots of passion, energy, and tough, smart, clean play from both sides. That drive for Norwalk; 98 yards with 3:00 to go? What a way to win and wrap up a State Championship.
I thought it was great too that the whole town for both teams was there; this is what you love about Division 6-- those towns support their teams with so much pride and passion and live and die on every snap.
Congrats to the Flyers for picking up their 1st State Championship -
Sportscaster17Lord almighty nealry 24 hours later, have watched the game replay four times from three different angles and it's still tough to fathom.
I've said it all along, if St. Paul was to win a state title, THIS was the team you wanted on the opposite sidelines. STJ has set the bar and you can't be a champion unless you beat one and they did. No one threw the ball on the Flyers all year. The defense held a phenomenal quarterback to 37 yards on the ground. The difference in statistics for the game were simply staggering. From total yardage (nearly a 300-yd advantage for the Flyers), to third and fourth down conversions and time of possession, this was a game in which the numbers clearly favored STP.
I couldn't be happier for Coach Livengood and his staff and was happy to pay off my 10-year vow to them at Whitney Field after the game. =)
Wes Ulm, as I told you after the game, it was honestly a privilege to be able to compete against you, your school and of course that tradition. What a player.
This was a program victory. A community victory. Anyone who's ever worn the red helmet should be walking on cloud nine this weekend!
FINALLY! -
MessyDinosaurSC, thats what Im doing right now!

94hoopsST PAUL FLYERS - 2009 DIVISION 6 STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS.
How sweet those words just roll right off of the tongue. Congrats to all of the players but a special congrats to the Senior Class. For 4 years U guys have worked together as a group with one common goal. You attained that goal today and I'm sure U will continue to reach your goals after high school. Their have been several great classes to come thru the SP system, but IMHO none that have made the impact that you men have. Hard work, determination, perseverence would only be a few of the words to describe your group. You proved that it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog that make a difference.
All year long, you played and led your team like champions. Today...you have a gold championship trophy to prove it.
To the coaches. Coach Livengood has always led by example and the team won this one as much for their coaches as they did for team. Congrats to JL for being such a motivator and leader. All of the coaches do an outstanding job and they should feel a great sense of pride for what they have helped develop here at St. Paul.
Finally, what a great show of support from the St. Paul community, the citizens of Norwalk and Huron County and all of the other FC schools that were their cheering for the Flyers. This is a great victory for the school, city, county and FC conference. -
SweetFlyerFanEric's great grandfather was Herman Schwieterman, his closest relatives were in the Fort Recovery area of the state.
-
norwalkGreat game and congrats to both teams on a game well played. Lets not get overly concern on the stats, Delphos basically lost 2 drives because of they're long returns. With that said, NSP had a huge edge going into halftime.
Special congrats to #68 on NSP, you've worked hard and earn every bit of it. The "Trucker fans" you have are proud of ya !!!
Now NSP players, go win a FC title in basketball. -

Pathetic. I wonder what group is next, the "Kick St. Paul out of the FC" group or "St. Paul is too good so we would rather complain than work hard to get better" group. Perhaps they'll start a "St. Paul recruits" group. That is if those groups don't already exist, although they probably do.MessyDinosaur wrote: http://www.facebook.com/search/?q=who+gives+two+shits&init=quick#/pages/Who-gives-two-shits-that-St-Paul-won-state/198949662413?ref=search&sid=1434330029.935474521..1

MessyDinosaurRight now I wouldn't mind going to the SBC, pick up Monroeville as first game of the season in place of SMCC because they are in the conference! At least I think some good friendly rivalries would get made in the SBC I've got a lot of respect for all of those teams! But the FC is losing my respect very quickly. its sad
-
Sportscaster17Simply ground clutter my friends, pay no attention whatsoever!!
-
MessyDinosaurSportscaster are you making a highlight video? when can we expect to see it
-
sportsvideomessy the SBC would welcome the flyers with open arms.. you can bet Huron is respecting you folks and understanding the hard work and appreciation of a state championship.. 2 big trophies for the flyers this fall..a gold and a silver..but wow..that is amazing for the kids at st paul...
congrats St P. and enjoy every second of it and never take it for granted, because there are no guarentees to when this could happen again... so cherish the moment.. -
MessyDinosaurIt would take a while to get up to pace with you guys in some other sports, but we have heard it enough from other conference schools, plus I have heard rumors Clyde may be transferring to the NOL. That leaves an open spot in the SBC. Maybe this is something that should be brought up? Maybe even a thread on it.

playall18St. Paul is not leaving the FC. Leaving the FC ruins any chance at a perfect season and makes any first round playoff game a road test. When St. Mary closes, watch as all the conferences (minus the FC) start shuffling teams all over the place. The new NOL will look like this:
Norwalk, Edison, Willard, Shelby, Bellevue, Clyde, Perkins, Huron.
Four natural rivalries and the largest team is one of the weakest in football, so everyone will be satisfied. -

wonder who started it? prolly some punk from western. i wonder what would happen if western reserve played delphos st. john's ???MessyDinosaur wrote: http://www.facebook.com/search/?q=who+gives+two+shits&init=quick#/pages/Who-gives-two-shits-that-St-Paul-won-state/198949662413?ref=search&sid=1434330029.935474521..1

oozwajWonder why DSJ doesn't play more of their best players both ways? I think there were only 3!?!?
Seems to me watching Ulm and #25 play on O, that surely they would be beasts too on D?!?
Almost as good and as good are not the same thing, esp in a title game -

Who was comparing scores? I was making the point that I watched Wynford play and they were really good so if Norwalk beat them then they had to be very good also and would be able to play with what was a very unimpressive DSJ team that I saw beat ADA.the_system wrote:
Comparing scores are worthless. Leipsic handled Fremont St. Joe in the playoffs by 16. St. Johns hammered Leipsic by 27. Ada lost to St. Johns by 3, so Ada should be....40 points better than Fremont St. Joe? And since St. Joe beat H-L and Carey....40+ points better than both of those teams? See what I'm saying? Doesn't work.0311sdp wrote: I saw Delphos play Ada and I saw Wynford play Hopewell Louden. If NSP is better than Wynford (28-21) (a team that would have handled ADA) then look out DSJ they can play with you too. Because of the playoff experience and tough games in the MAC each weak, I'll pick DSJ but if DSJ plays like they have the last two weeks, NSP could easily win this game. DSJ 21 NSP 14.
Wynford rolls through one of the easiest conferences in the state every year. They usually get beat in the first round...possibly second. This year they met up with a down H-L team and continued on.
My opinion remains unchanged. If coldwater can only score 20 points on the Jays defense, St. Henry only 6 points, Marion Local only 7, Tinora 0 points, then I find it hard to believe that NSP will be able to generate enough offense to win. Possible but not likely. On the other hand DSJ will have a great size advantage, and have the ability to go 2-platoon if they want.
I'm going with DSJ 21-7. Possibly 28-7 -

Gee maybe Western should change their name to Western St. Reserve and then they will be able to compete with all of the private schools. And the St. Paul fans have the nerve to call WR fans and players disrespectful???? Sounds to me after what you have written, you should practice what you preach!!!rookie_j70 wrote:

Best thing to do is not stir the pot. Unhappy people will always be unhappy. Ignore it. If I read the facebook group properly, there is some confusion as to what that is about. There are quite a few St Paul alumni in that facebook group.strap up wrote:

Thats not necessarily true, NSP might be able to go 7-3 in the sbc and still clinch a home playoff game. Its not always about having that perfect season, and Im sure playing teams Perkins, Edison, Clyde, and Huron will only make you better. Even if NSP doesn't have a home game first round the last time they didn't they made the semi's. All I am saying is there is going to be some changes coming up and I want Nsp to be considered in it. The conference wants it, and I want the to stop complaining. I didnt want to mention SMCC closing, but while were on it you would think a semi large influx of students would come south for school. I know if NSP had closed SMCC is likely where I would have been heading. I dont know if it will be enough to push us into D-5 but you can only assume that SOME of the kids would transfer there.playall18 wrote: St. Paul is not leaving the FC.
